We were hankering for a post-lobster roll treat in Falmouth and was recommended Somerset Creamery. Definitely did not disappoint. I went with my standby (raspberry dark chocolate froyo) and the flavor of raspberry was nice and subtle, with chunks of dark chocolate. Of the three flavors my husband got - coffee oreo, butter pecan, pistachio, I liked the coffee oreo the most even though I'm not a big coffee dessert person. They are very generous with their chunks of oreo. The pistachio was the weakest, with an artificial aftertaste, like pistachio made in the lab by someone who had never eaten pistachio before. They take credit or cash; if you pay with the latter, you get a small discount. There's some outdoor seating and a big parking lot. Be prepared for long lines. After we had finished, the line was out the door so definitely a popular summer spot. The seasonal flavor was key lime pie with swirls of graham crackers. I'll have to try the cranberry bog next! They also offer half-gallons of certain flavors for $20.50. read more

YUM! We came here as it was on our way back home, and it has good Yelp reviews. We're so glad we did! It's pre-season, so we had no wait at all. The service was super quick, but they were all very nice. The portions are big (I got a kiddie, that I think was actually a small) and reasonably priced. My sister, friend, and I went here a little after 8 PM and the place was packed which is figured. The only problem I have was the setup of how they do things was unorganized. They are limited order areas and you have to share each with two payment set ups. The ice cream is decent. I got chocolate chip cookie dough. The vanilla was buttery and thick and the cookie dough was the best part since it was huge chunks. They have a decent amount of flavors but could be expanded. The service is average as well. Ive had both the black raspberry oreo and the mocha chip. Both are delicious and have great texture , but I favor the black raspberry Oreo, and flavor I was initially wary of. You walk in to the place and are immediately hit by the warm smell of fresh baked waffle cones (at least I think that's what it is) and the staff are great And clearly enjoy working there. Their servings are more than generous and if you order a pint or more to go they're filled beyond the brim. The servers are accommodating- they'll make small portions. Their Bailey's Irish cream is OK, but their seasonal Indian Pudding flavor is excellent, sweet, rich, and spicy. Decent ice cream and huge portions but not the best ice cream I have ever had. Maybe I'm spoiled after recently having spent 2 weeks in Italy and eating the best gelato, but I thought the ice cream here was pretty good but not amazing. The homemade waffle cones were good, but other than that, the ice cream itself was pretty standard in texture and flavors. They did have some more unique flavors like key lime pie, maple walnut, cashew caramel, blueberry pie, mocha peanut butter cup, etc. We got the small size in a homemade waffle cone which was $5.65, but it was the hugest small sized ice cream I have seen. I thought the small size was a large or XL, so I can't imagine how big the large actually is. The small in the waffle cone has 2 generous scoops which is more than enough for 2 people. We got the cookie dough flavor and the mocha peanut butter cup. I liked the pieces of mini peanut butter cups in the ice cream - but I found both flavors to be a bit on the sweet side. Perhaps I'm accustomed to non-American desserts and sweets not being overly sweet, having lived in Europe for the last year and a half. If you like sweet ice cream and really big scoops and portions, you will like this place. I'd come back here if I had someone to share a small with but I think the small is way too big for one person. I wouldn't make a special trip to come here but it was fine for ice cream and the texture was creamy. Overall, I'd probably give this 3.5 stars. Cash only so plan accordingly. They do have an ATM inside the place, but obviously it's better if you don't have to pay a fee to use the ATM if you plan ahead. read more
