They shut this Privately Owned Bridge Down. I think you can still ride your bike over it.

US Life Saving Station - Historic Ocean City Life Saving Station

The historic life saving station in the north end of Ocean City is a pleasant journey into a bit of maritime history. You can still see some of the old life boats which were used in rescue attempts of people imperiled in and on the sea. The original kitchen and bedrooms are still here which were used by the men and women who worked at this facility and saved many a life over the years. Interesting enough - at one time this life saving station was directly on the beach and ocean but the years have shifted the sands and now it is a very long block inland from the water. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

This Ocean City station was called Beazeley's Station until 1883. Rebuilt in 1885-1886, it is the…read moreonly U.S. Life Saving Service station left in New Jersey that was rebuilt according to the Service's distinctive 1882-type design. This design is both stunning architecturally, with its gabled roof and lookout tower, and highly effective in the use of space to house both boats and surfmen. In 1905-06, the station was expanded to add a boat bay, a wrap-around porch, and other improvements. The footprint of the building was doubled, and the structure is the only surviving 1882-type station to be expanded according to the historic New Jersey Pattern. In 1915, the U.S. Coast Guard absorbed the U.S. Life Saving Service and assumed control of the Ocean City Station. It is the last of the three stations that were located on the island. The others were the Peck's Beach and Corson's Inlet Stations. The Station passed into private hands in 1945 until the city purchased it in 2010. The house changed hands several times during those sixty plus years with a very scary period in the 90's where the home left the hands of private homeowners and was bought by a developer, Pansini Custom Design, who wanted to subdivide (aka knock the original structure down) the property in order to build three duplexes. A group who called themselves Save Our Station Coalition was formed to keep the life saving station from being demolished and finally after several years of rangling over price the home was purchased in 2010 for 958K after the developer initially in 2005 wanted over $2 million. Although the group's website is very spartan and their Facebook page has not been updated in a year, everything continues to move forward with the home currently being jacked up so that work can be done on the foundation. Once that is completed, contracts are in place for everything in the interior to be furnished and completed along with the roof, porches, siding and paint to accurately reflect what the building looked like in 1905. While it may not look like much now, when completed this will be the only Life Saving Station in the country that will be 100% period accurate. Three stars for now but I'm sure five will be on the way when everything is completed next year.

This place is squeaky clean, super safe, and delightfully dry (as in, no alcohol allowed on the beach) The boardwalk has everything a family could want: pizza slices bigger than your head, fudge that defies logic, mini golf courses every 15 feet, and rides that are reasonably priced. There's no bar crawl vibe here--more like stroller parades, ice cream drips, and kids riding bikes 10/10, would sunscreen my kids here again.

I found this studio a few months ago when I decided to reinvent my July 24th for 2025. Last year on this day in 2024 I had surgery to remove the extra skin after losing 165lbs from 311.5lbs and the surgery I came home and unfortunately started bleeding internally and had to go back to the ER for additional surgery in total I lost 4 pints of blood and needed a transfusion. That day I spent most of the day stressed, panicked, unconscious/ in surgery for 10 plus hours unsure of what came next. I knew this year on July 24th I was gonna seize the day and do stuff relaxing and rejuvenating. This yoga session targeted stretching and zen through the class . There was a point where she mentioned to let go of the stuff that's behind us and release it and leave it at the beach. That moment felt great to really zone in the waves and everything at the shore to move past last year. The instructor was very attentive and made sure everyone understood each pose and directed us when to breathe. This was everything I needed for today, the beach setting and the yoga/zen. Beginners or advance levels can take this class. Thank you!

Having never been on a web cam before, I am able to use Zoom very effectively my phone or laptop for yoga where Erica and I see each other and speak to each other ... so it is just like having my own yoga instructor right next to me to give me instructions, encouragement, tweaks to my poses. And I can tell her if something hurts or ask her questions ... or just talk. It is so much fun!

While rides were pleasant enough, there were two instances where drivers were exceptionally rude either to me, other passengers onboard or even people passing by. My first experience was taking the free Jitney from the AC train station. After letting some people off at Resorts, a passerby, possibly homeless started becoming aggressive towards the driver as he thought the Jitney was moving too closely to him as it backed up. The driver responded by driving quickly back towards this guy, like he was using the vehicle as a weapon. Then both the driver and the guy both exchanged several curse words, both yelling at the top of their lungs. What made matters worse is that the driver did not take me to my hotel, since it wasn't a casino. Instead, I had to walk with my luggage from near the Absecon Lighthouse to my hotel - the Wyndham Skyline Tower - a distance of almost a mile! My second experience was after The Who show at the Boardwalk Hall. After getting onboard, I tried to use the Jitney app and the extremely rude driver kept yelling at me to show me that I paid for the ride. I ended up paying for two rides as I was unfamiliar how to scan the ticket. While I would like to believe that most AC Jitney drivers are good workers, these two really were among the worst I've ever experienced. That's says something, since I use public transit alot and worked in the public transportation industry for nearly 25 years.

They don't allow people to stand so if the small bus is full you have to wait for the next bus. We saw a lot of different buses throughout our stay in Atlantic city. I thought it would be mostly tourists utilizing the buses but there were a lot of locals which is great for the community. The jitney was cheaper than uber and Lyft and we took advantage of this mode of transportation and would use it again when we're in the area.
