After one terrible experience at a medical supply store in West Hartford and one not so great one in Torrington, Medicare sent me here. Now, usually I would have been extremely upset... Medicare sent me here, and they cannot even take my insurance for a wheelchair, due to new insurance regulations. This gentleman was the kindest and most helpful person I have met in a long time! He knew all the information that no other medical supplier knew (or at least shared with me!). He printed up all the information that I needed for the medical suppliers that I needed to contact. He also made a suggestion for the exact one that I should go to! I wish there was more people like him in this world! Helpful, kind and super friendly!! I would recommend Better Health LLC to anyone who is looking for a medical supply store!! One suggestion for consumers, call first if you have Medicare. Under the new Obamacare, some laws have changed and they only can cover certain items. That's the downside, but i called Medicare and THEY sent me there! Honestly, a blessing in disguise. I was told they needed 15 minutes to get everything ready. I told her I'll be back soon for it. I came back two hours later, was acknowledged and told it would be a few minutes later. Five minutes later, someone else calls me, asks for the insurance information again which I had already given and said it would be an additional 10 minutes. I was told they only fill prescriptions while patient is waiting... which I was never told. It's a waste of time for busy individuals such as myself. Mind you, I was picking up a small device, not medication. To top off my annoyance, a staff member was rudely speaking in Spanish about another customer. Very unprofessional. First time here and I'll be avoiding coming back!

She went into Hometown Medical…read moreSupply of Northampton on June 2, 2011, and purchased a pair of Guardian Aluminum Crutches for $45.99. It turned out that it was impractical for her to use the crutches. The crutches are a regularly stocked item that came off the shelf, not a special order. She tried to return the crutches on two occasions, but the store was closed. When she finally was able to go in on July 12, 2011, the store refused to accept the merchandise for return, even though the crutches were clearly unused and still had the original packaging attached. The store cited a sign, as well as the fine print on the bottom of her sales receipt, indicating that there would be no returns allowed after 7 days from the date of sale. (It also indicates that even returns made within 7 days are subject to a 10% "restocking" fee. This would be the charge to put the item back on the shelf.) A merchant has a right to dictate restrictive return and refund policies; however, there are times when flexibility is in order and simply makes common sense. Fortunately, consumers have the power to choose which businesses to patronize and where to spend their dollars. Based upon our singular experience with Hometown Medical Supply of Northampton, I would warn fellow consumers away from doing business with this company ... a company with unfriendly policies that strongly suggest that it should not be in business.
