Stopped in tonight for their thin crust pizza after a referral from some locals, we ordered the white pizza and added mushrooms. It was divine! This was our first time trying solos after several Trips to AMI and I'm surprised we haven't tried it sooner. When you walk into solos, it looks more like a bar than a pizza spot. Big wooden bar that wraps around most of the restaurant. High top tables, booths, lots of bar like decor. I called in my order and while i was intending to get a pie and some wings, i was informed it was a 2 pie minimum (thought that was weird) and they had no wings. (Again kind of weird) So we roll with the punches and got a cheese and a pepperoni pie. The pies were cooked perfectly. They were hot, thin and crispy! The only complaint i have for these pies is the lack of sauce. It had some sauce, but i think the ratio between sauce/cheese/crust was a little off. We will definitely be back to AMI and I'm sure we will get solos again. I'm hoping next time they have wings and maybe I'll stay for a beer or two! read more

Rain and a fouled reservation took us via google search to Solos. OUTSTANDING! The staff headed by Theresa accommodated 25 guests without a single kerfuffle. Honestly, I was amazed at Theresa's ease of getting beverages flowing and food going. She made extra efforts to accommodate our newly wedded couple and helped the best man look good with some Key Lime Pie. Theresa daddled over the bride's father and made both mothers happy! All this with a smile and an exuberance of happiness. The food most excellent. We did pizzas and all were top-notch. The Solo patrons were all very nice as well. They joined the celebration and gifted us some of the greatest acts of kindness I've ever witnessed. We ordered 1 large meat lovers, 1 large cheese pizza, and 1 large vegetarian pizza, and they were just ok. The meat lovers didnt seem to have enough meat to be able to claim it as "meat lovers". The vegetarian was full of olives and bananas peppers- no onions, no bell peppers, none of the"good stuff". What really turned us off from the place, was the wait. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us and the bartender was taking a togo order on the phone for about 5 minutes. When she finally hung up, she went into the kitchen and by the time she came back out, the phone rang again and she was on for another 5 minutes. After that, another party had to flash down our waiter because she still hadn't seen us. There were 2 other parties in the restaurant, so it wasn't necessarily busy enough to excuse the slow service. read more

Thanksgiving Eve and we set out on a journey to find a new pizza place and we ended up at the beach here at Solo Pizza. Pro: - They offer thin crust pizza (our favorite) - Servers were very friendly and attentive - Pizza was delicious (we had the veggie) Con: - Food cook time was really slow. There were only 3 tables seated when we were arrived and it took about 45 minutes for our pizza to be served. Granted, you're at the beach so it's "island time", just a general observation. - Seating situation was a little weak. Two small booths, 6 high top tables and a bar. If you aren't lucky enough to snag a booth, you better enjoy bar stool dining. - They only offer thin crust pizza. Was a plus for us, but if you aren't a thin crust fan you'll be bumming. read more

I didn't know what to expect when I walked in. There was only one other table occupied. One server working, stocking things behind the bar. Ordered wings and a large pepperoni pizza. The wings arrived and they were pretty good. No breading and perfect amount of buffalo sauce. The pizza was thin crust and had a good amount of cheese and pepperoni. The crust was crispy and it was cooked to perfection. Not sure if this place gets busy at night but we arrived around 5pm. Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but l was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the regular pizza and wow.. there are no words. A classic pizza done right. Crisp crust, juicy cheese, stuffed with all the essentials (pepperoni, mushrooms, cheese, and sausages). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall full of specials, so it can get a little overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself! You won't be disappointed. read more

There were maybe 12 people in the place and the girl behind the counter said they could not take an order because they were slammed. I have never heard of such a thing. So rude and indignant. I had a hankering for some pizza and Solo's was nearby and sounded good. I ordered their white pizza to-go and they said it would be ready in 15 minutes... and it was. I went inside to pick up the pizza. There was a pool table there and a few people enjoying their food inside. To me, it looked like a classic pizza joint. I'll look forward to our post-COVID days to enjoy a meal and a beer there inside. I did not notice if they had any interesting, local, craft beers on tap... Stopped here looking for a late dinner near our condo. Offers variety of bar food but is known for its pizza, which is delicious. Tasty crust, cheesy and served hot with a big pair of tongs to life the slices onto your plate. Very casual, reasonable prices. They were short staffed so the owner waited on us and he was super friendly and welcoming. When the servers arrived, they checked on us several times to fill our water and be sure we had what we needed. Would recommend for dine-in pizza or takeout pizza. read more

Barb here. While the pizza tasted okay, the "large" was really, really ridiculously small. My buddy was so excited to treat us to a few pies -- he's been coming here every summer since he was a kid -- but when he opened the boxes, he legitimately thought they made a mistake and accidentally made him a couple of smalls. Nope. He talked to the manager who tried to convince him that this was how they've making pizza for years, he literally said "our boxes are just big" -- what a sad disappointment! We've eaten here three times. The first tine was fine. Food was ok. Service fine. The second time, we sat at the first table and waited to be acknowledged. There was no a/c and no one cared. Waitress was ok. We just gave it our third and final try. Walked in and sat down by the pool table. The one person working never acknowledged us. In fact, he was too busy telling everyone about his neck, how old he is, etc. they always seem to be under staffed. And just don't seem to care. The waiter, or whoever he was, actually acknowledged every other table except for us. It's pizza. There are a million of them out there. Don't waste your time. read more

I'm in Anna Maria on vacation with my family and we got hungry pretty late. Because of COVID, lots of places closed at 9 but we found this spot to be open til 10. We put in an order for takeout, 3 pizzas. We get there and it was the owner making our pizzas, just him. Took a little longer than he told us but we didn't mind waiting... especially when we finally got home and tried the pizzas. The white pizza is by far the best white pizza I've ever had; we even added onions. Def recommend it to any cheese lovers! Went to eat here while visiting. A staff member was extremely rude to me and my family about business hours. I read a review on how the owner was rude to guests as well and I should've went elsewhere but figured it might have been an isolated incident. I rarely post but this needed to be posted as nobody should be treated this way. We ended up going to Pizza Social and had excellent service. Ordered two cheese pizzas for carry out. They were on time, easy to pick up. Crust was thin but not cracker crust, nicely chewy. Amount and quality of cheese was excellent. Wanted to give the mom and pop a chance. I tried to call and place a take out and the message stated that they are so busy they wont accept take out orders and wanted to reserve the time for their in house patrons. Ok, I'm thinking.... I'll walk in because it was just blocks from our condo and try and do a walk in order. I entered into the restaurant walked into the bar to place the order and the bartender stats they aren't taking any take outs at the time so they can cater to the in house patrons! I look around and in house is (1) 4 top, (1) 2 top and 3 people sitting at the bar! Working is 1 bartender (who really wasn't doing a thing) and a lady in the kitchen. If they can stay in business this way good for them!
