Delivered as promised. Recent heavy rains had resulted in ruined carpet in the basement. Jose helped us pick out a reasonable quality replacement and pad. It came in a few hundred over his initial estimate due the large number or cuts needed to fit lay the carpet. Compared to the box box stores I visited the carpet was of equal or better quality and cheaper with more professional quality installation. His team arrived about 15minutes late but stayed longer than planned to ensure a top quality installation. Very easy to work with and while we are at the store a repeat customer from 2 years ago came in wanting more carpet. She had nothing but high praise for Solo Flooring for price, product quality and installation. That sold us and in the end we were well pleased. read more

If I could give this place a negative star, I would. This company does not standby their product not their installation. We had water damage from a leaky garbage disposal and Solo Flooring was subcontracted to replace the linoleum floor in the kitchen, and oak floors in the dining room and living room. No complaints with the kitchen, but their wooden floors are a different matter. First we noticed that the stain on the new wood did not match our stairs to upstairs and downstairs, as well as the wood floors upstairs. Further, there was no attempt to match the gloss finish on what was the original floor, and with what matched upstairs. Result - upper floor is glossy, and the main floor is something less than a satin finish. Next, we started to notice the polyurethane wearing off in several spots on the floor, accompanied with stain getting even lighter where the polyurethane was wearing off. I invited Solo Flooring to my home to inspect, which they did. The rep took a few pictures. Result: we were told that we were abiding our floors! My family consists of me in my late 50's, my wife in her early 60's, my daughter at 23, and a medium sized dog (Belgian Tervuren) as well as a couple of cats. We don't have kids running around all over the place, and we have promptly cleaned up any spills on the floor. Regardless, the wear marks after less than 3 years are considered abuse. I think not. Before we move next year, we will probably have to pay to have someone completely restrain and refinish a 3-4 year old floor. If you want to hire Solo Flooring to take care of your flooring, just remember they are "fire and forget". They'll work quickly to get the product installed and place light coats of stain and Polyurethane finish, then forget about you and make false excuses why they shouldn't have to standby their work. read more

Solo Flooring recently came out to replace our basement carpeting. The final install looks okay; however, the carpet tack strips are so far away from the wall that I am fearful my 2.5 year old will cut his foot while playing. Just walking up the steps, one of my toes was pierced on a strip and bled. I asked Solo Flooring to come back out to look at the install, which they did, but they did not offer any resolution. The project manager said he would talk to the owner, but then never called back. After a week went by without a response, my husband went around and bent all the nails down. Although my husband was able to come up with a simple solution, I found it quite bothersome that a flooring specialist with 10 years of experience didn't do a better job with the installation, or even offer any tips to solve the problem. The customer service was very poor and I would not recommend using them in the future. Their website claims that they "want to focus our exclusive attention to our client's individual needs." I couldn't disagree more. read more

Solo Flooring did a fantastic job putting a new floor in our 90 year old home we use as the Guadalupe Free Clinic, now in our 16th year. Due to the age of the building and the numerous additions we've made to convert the house into a clinic, the floors weren't very level. However, the guys were able to use a flexible cement mixture before laying the floor which made our floors as level as possible. They then installed vinyl plank perfectly. You can't even find a seam between planks. The floors are beautiful, comfortable on our feet and heavy duty, able to withstand heavy traffic. The guys did the job quickly and efficiently in two days. They did a great job moving and returning all the furniture and records. They cleaned up both inside and out so you can't even tell they were there. I especially appreciated that they coordinated with me through the entire process. I highly recommend them for your flooring needs! read more

Our kitchen floor was a bit outdated and worn. I contacted Jose of Solo Flooring and he appeared on my doorstep the same day (with samples in hand). He presented options and I signed a contract that same day. I chose a vinyl floor that would be durable and brighten up the kitchen. A week later- a new floor was installed- at a reasonable price! We started with Home Depot, and so glad we ended with Jose! HD made things incredibly complicated. Jose was flexible, but provided guidance when needed. We were in a bit of a hurry, and had some limitations, but Jose absolutely worked with us as far as meeting, scheduling, and ordering. He was friendly, quick, efficient and even helped us with our furniture. He made it seem effortless and stress-free. And most importantly, everything looked beautiful. Very Professional Up Front; Then, It's Nothing But Excuses The sales and estimation process was very professional - punctual and thorough. I contracted for $10,000 in flooring and stair renovation. The team showed up on time, but with an unclear, inaccurate understanding of the scope of the work contracted - they did not know they were supposed to replace floors in the closets in the room. Had to call the owner to get this cleared up; the crew's command of English was very poor. To their credit, this matter was cleared up relatively quickly. They started and performed one third of the work contracted within the time we agreed upon. Then took off for two weeks, and past the agreed upon completion time because the flooring materials weren't available, yet. I asked the owner why they agreed to do the work before the end of the month if they weren't going to be able to start the second part of the work until the middle of the next month, his response was that they had started on time and he had no control over the material delivery date. They left without reinstalling the stair handrails after carpeting the stairs. I asked the owner why they didn't reinstall the handrails. He said he hadn't understood I wanted the handrails reinstalled after the stairs were carpeted. He hadn't included it in the price, but would do it for an additional charge. Hadn't understood I wanted handrails re-installed on the stairs? One month later the caulk seal is coming away from the toilet - the one they reinstalled during the flooring. He sent someone over to reapply caulk. Another month, and the caulk is coming away, again. This time, I see it's because the toilet was reinstalled too loose and is rocking on the floor. I contact the owner to reinstall the toilet, this time more securely, so it won't rock. It wasn't rocking before they reinstalled it. "That's not our problem," is the response, "You need to call a plumber." I selected this company because of the reviews and up front, they appear very professional and competent. Since the work was begun it's been nothing but excuses and problems and all sorts of reasons why they can't do the work correctly, do the work on time, or fix something they fouled up. Don't contract this company unless you have the time to keep a very close eye on them while they're doing the work, time is NOT of the essence, and you have time to demand re-work or a good lawyer. read more

I had a complicated wood flooring project including matching a poorly stained floor to our existing red oak floors and installing new floors in a powder room, closet and kitchen to also match the existing floors. I was pretty nervous about getting a good match because other floor refinishers that I spoke to weren't very confident. Jose of Solo Flooring was very willing to do a test match before we proceeded with the project and his team were able to sand a test area and create a test match within the first hour. They then proceeded to enclose the space they were working with plastic to keep any dust to a minimum through the rest of the house and they also use a very low dust sanding system. The two man crew, Mario and Alberto, are artists. Very meticulous and efficient at their work. They did demolition on the existing ceramic tile in the kitchen and started laying new wood in the powder room and closet right away once they had removed baseboards. They were also able to do a number of board repairs in the dining room - I can't even tell where they were repaired. There was sanding and handscraping multiple times to get a smooth and even finish on existing and new wood. I would absolutely recommend Jose, his team and Solo Flooring for your flooring needs and plan to hire them again to refinish my existing floors. Everyone was very easy to work with, listened to my concerns prior to the job, cleaned each day and finished the job on time. read more

I had to replace my subfloor in the bathroom due to a leaky toilet. I hired solo flooring to replace the vinyl flooring. They did a great job making the fix seamless. I gave this place a try cause it's near my new home and so many good reviews. Thinking it should be cheaper since its independent contractor. I was disappointed with the service and price. The person came on a different date then what was agreed to, good thing my parents was home. But then made a nasty remark saying he doesn't like people who forget appointment. In my head I'll ignore that if their price n service is good. They measured over 100 sq/ft for a small room. I decided to get home depot out measure. Their price and service was a lot better. Instead paying $1150 for one small bedroom down stair with Solo Flooring. I only pay $530 at Home Depot for same material and much better service. read more

Stay away! This company takes no accountability and its owner, Jose, is exceptionally difficult to work with. Solo flooring was used by our contractor after the flooding of our basement. Jose turned out to be VERY difficult to work with. The carpet was not installed as we desired and Jose charged us additional money to come out and correct his companies oversight. After a few months, the carpet began to unravel and Jose blamed the our kids, our vacuum, and even a dog we do not own. We were not trying to blame anyone, we just wanted a remedy. Eventually, due to Jose's continual inaction, I was forced to contact our contractor who spoke with Mohawk carpets and began our claim. Mohawk decided their carpet was faulty and provided us with new carpet. Solo flooring again installed the carpet and once completed we found a broken lamp and the closet doors of a bedroom were improperly installed. When contacted, Jose, again refused to accept accountability, began to argue with me and instantly became very defensive. When his lack of accountability throughout the entire process was brought to his attention, Jose continues to argue, attacked us, the customer, and even took credit for us getting new carpet saying it would not have happened without him!!! The contractor could not believe Jose's response nor his behavior and had to come to our house to fix Solo Flooring's damage. Do not use this company. read more
