The on-site supervisor was rude & made it very difficult for me. On May 23rd, 2024 at 1 pm, all of my belongings in a Public Storage unit in the Bronx were auctioned off online by StorageTreasures. I've been a Public Storage customer since 10/2022. I thought my belongings would be safe in Public Storage, while I searched for employment & I could rent an apartment. My son's ashes, my pet's ashes. I worked hard to obtain the diplomas as a 1st gen, childhood pictures/books. I grew up in the group home foster care system in NYC, after aging out I've been on my own since I was 16 yrs old. The storage unit wasn't just a collection of things, it was a sanctuary of a life I built on my own, a testament to my resilience. I suffer from psychosomatic nerve pain, PTSD, anxiety & depression from long-term trauma. This last year has been routine visits to the doctor's office, MRIs, & physical therapy. On that Sat May 25th, I was rushed to the emergency room from stress (17 hrs of regurgitating bile). In April 2024, I was diagnosed with cancer. While I understand the need for businesses to enforce payment policies, in this instance, a more humane approach could have prevented significant emotional & physical distress. This was about the heartless cruelty of taking from someone who already had very little. I was told the buyer of my unit was given my information to make arrangements to return the irreplaceable items, even allowing me to repurchase my belongings. You can't be this amount of heartless or evil!

She was very friendly, kind and professional. I'm sorry I can't say anything good about the company I feel like I have been robbed. They definitely need to make some changes in their policy or at least notify the customer when they plan on stealing money from them, this is how my money was stolen. I rented a unit for two months paid a half price for it. Everything was removed from the storage unit by the 30th of the month since this was Easter weekend the movers neglected to return the key on time but it was verified that the storage unit was empty on that last weekend in April so to make a long story short was sent a bill for $190 because the Policy for public storages if the key isn't returned on time and you're one day late, you have to pay for the entire month, which is totally ridiculous to be totally fair even to prorate it because of a key that got left behind would be acceptable. and to top it all off I was told when I initially rented the unit that I wasn't required to have renters insurance but that they offered it for $15 a month and I could accept it or not well I didn't want the renters insurance then I got a message that if I didn't buy theirs, I would have to show proof that I had my own policy covering my items in storage, then I googled the insurance company to no surprise Public Storage owned the insurance company So they win no matter what. So I paid the extra $30 for their insurance which only covered me for earthquake, hurricane , fire, and flood, nothing covered for theft of course, this is free money for them to jack up their rental rates, because none of those things would happen. and by the way they charge you $20 for the key when you move in even though it must be returned , Just another way to jack up the price I consider these guys to be total crooks they have threatened me with collections & will screw up my credit if I don't pay the months rent for being one day late like I said, these guys are crooks don't use them, it's too late for me

I explained to them that I clearly stated that I was moving to Orlando and I needed it to be a one way trip. I was told that it was and after returning it in Orlando I was told different. they were v rude with me and ended up chathing me an extra $180 for a return fee... they clearly made a mistake on their behalf and would not admit it to me and I am in disbelief on how bad I was mistreated never again will I use this service
