On April 25th & again on May 15th, I went to the LIC NYC Department of Social Services office to get help paying my storage bill. The on-site supervisor was rude & made it very difficult for me. On May 23rd, 2024 at 1 pm, all of my belongings in a Public Storage unit in the Bronx were auctioned off online by StorageTreasures. I've been a Public Storage customer since 10/2022. I thought my belongings would be safe in Public Storage, while I searched for employment & I could rent an apartment. My son's ashes, my pet's ashes. I worked hard to obtain the diplomas as a 1st gen, childhood pictures/books. I grew up in the group home foster care system in NYC, after aging out I've been on my own since I was 16 yrs old. The storage unit wasn't just a collection of things, it was a sanctuary of a life I built on my own, a testament to my resilience. I suffer from psychosomatic nerve pain, PTSD, anxiety & depression from long-term trauma. This last year has been routine visits to the doctor's office, MRIs, & physical therapy. On that Sat May 25th, I was rushed to the emergency room from stress (17 hrs of regurgitating bile). In April 2024, I was diagnosed with cancer. While I understand the need for businesses to enforce payment policies, in this instance, a more humane approach could have prevented significant emotional & physical distress. This was about the heartless cruelty of taking from someone who already had very little. I was told the buyer of my unit was given my information to make arrangements to return the irreplaceable items, even allowing me to repurchase my belongings. public storage has blocked me on facebook and the regional manager, michael won't return my calls. the one time i spoke with him he assured me that public storage would take care of me. lies, lies, lies beware...this location is infested with big rats! management is well aware of this and they don't care. i had about 40 boxes and evey single box was chewed open and destroyed. i lost about $2000-3000 worth of items. public storage took care of me with a whopping $175.99. public storage, you should be ashamed of yourself. corporate giants stepping all ov er the little people that made them. shame on you! read more

This is the worst storage place! I highly recommend you go somewhere else. The roof leaked and ruined a ton of my stuff. When trying to move my stuff out (I'm moving to a different state) they are making it nearly impossible. The B P self storage next door is much better or Life Storage on Wickham. I still can't believe they won't allow a pod to come in so I can move. I called several storage places in the area (like the ones listed above) and they were fine with allowing pods on the property. As a newly single woman I feel trapped in this awful place. Choose a different storage place. read more

I have never been treated so poorly by a company before. All the representatives and District Manager, have been unprofessional. I have been hung up on more than 5 times, today. Just today. All I want is an account payable receipt from my son's account, since his unit had a RAT in it. The location is at 4630 Babcock St NE Palm Bay, FL 32905. I received a call from Ms. Gilbert on October 11, saying my son will be sent to the creditor, if we do not pay $176.00. Public Storage paid him $683 for rent and loss items due to the DEAD RAT in his unit. I have contacted the bank and all disputed payments were under investigation and could not be credited to my son's account due to Public Storage "non response", meaning the organization/company ignored the bank for months. Not to mention, the ordeal has been horrific to my son and his Dad who was asked to remove the RAT. All I want is for Public Storage to clear my son's account and send a zero balance statement to the address on file. I hope this reach someone with customer service skills and care about doing the right thing! read more

DO NOT use this facility for any work. First they were suppose to order a hitch for our car that would take 10 days to get in. After almost a month and talking to the manager they finally called that it was in. When we went to have it installed they tried to charge us 2 times on the bill for the labor to do the job. Also wanted to add on a wiring harness and labor that we didn't ask for. Also were multiple items that were not asked for. Watch what you sre charged for and make sure you don't get charged for things that were never ordered. read more

Went here to inquire about a trailer hitch installation as they advertise this service online. The worst customer service experience ever. They left us at the counter, no employees around while the clerk went to get information on our inquiry. We were waiting for over 20 minutes, customers were piling up at least 6 -7 in line. The young man finally came back and he looked at us like if he had never seen us. We reminded him of our need and he said the manager is the only one who could help and he wasn't on the clock yet while another employee said he went to the bank and would be back shortly. We left after telling the young man who first helped us that it would've been nice if he would of informed us of the situation rather than go on break and forget we existed. Never again stepping foot in a uhaul. read more

Can't get my things out of storage . no one will answer the phone to remove the lock they placed on my unit. complete garbage

DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE COMPANY! They steal your money and they do nothing. Customer service doesn't exist. When I emptied my units it was infested with bugs and one time I found the wall busted down that separated my unit from the next door unit. They said they weren't aware of it. Someone could have stolen my things and they could have cared less. When I called the regional manager to report my concerns, he never returned my call AND never returned my email either. There is a storage company on every corner so there are many other choices. Don't use any Public Storage locations. I found a wonderful company, Extra Space Storage, they are charging 1/2 of what I was paying and it is climate controlled! read more

This place used a bait and switch on me Saturday! The woman that was working the counter her name is Jenn. I was given a price of $79.95 a month or I could've taken a special half off the first months rent but I chose the reduced rent special that she told me was on that unit only. after she ran my credit card and I looked at my receipt it was for $179 I am mediately asked her what that was for and she told me that the rental was $149 and that's how it came up in her system after she charged me. I immediately told her to cancel my reservation and she stated she would speak to her supervisor and get my $29 service fee back. It's been three days the monies already been taken out of my account but since it wasn't put back in my account I called and was told I was not getting my $29 back it's nonrefundable! It is not my fault that this person was not trustworthy and when I called they said they were going to have to send it up to the higher ups to see if they can get it returned. Very disappointed went to life storage on Pineda and Wickham they were honest and upfront anybody wants to use them look them up they're wonderful and I got the price I was told. read more

Terrible storage facility!!! Do NOT repeat Do NOT rent here. A surrounding wall in the storage unit that blocks mine from another unit broke through on my side and damaged my vehicle. It's a very flimsy cheap wall made up of just one sheet of drywall and the user on the other side broke through throwing all of his crap in the unit and the drywall smashed into my vehicle and damaged it. I talked to the Distric Manager and he was absolutely useless and took over three weeks to even talk to me and then said my insurance company has to pay for it. I will be contacting a lawyer to deal with their negligence read more

I had called the main number on the website and made a reservation for me to come look at the storage unit so when I went there Mary showed me the storage, I swipe my card to pay for it, signed the contract, she said my card had declined I said to her no it did not because I got a message saying that you took 100 hundred plus dollars out of my account but she insisted then she says well the information on the computer has been erased and wanted me to swipe again I said no you're not going to take my money twice, at the same moment I called my bank and the bank confirmed that the money was taken out she then called some manager Benjamin Berg he told me that I was disturbing his dinner with his family and that there was nothing they could do at the time cause the money did not go through (how did he come to this conclusion if he wasn't there) it's been a whole week and I still haven't gotten my money back nor I have a storage unit and most of all my money has not been refunded they don't know where is at. Scary Update: After calling several numbers no one seem to know where my money is...even my bank has not heard back from Public Storage nor I've heard back from the so called manager Benjamin Berg. read more

I just moved my stuff in, so I don't have experience over time, obviously. The only problem I have with the location is that there is another Public Storage within 100 yards of this one on the same side of the road. I drove into the wrong one at first with a truck and car carrier. The attendant inside said, "Oh... you don't have a reservation with this one. It's the other Public Storage next door." I and five friends had to drive out of this parking area and down the street 100 yards to the next one. Public Storage should tell you when you are booking the reservation which one to go to. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I could. I would rather burn all my belongs in the middle of the road before I store them here. Their hub will tell you everything you want to hear when you reserve a unit. When you get there everything will change. I helped my sister set up a unit there, I called the store 5 times no answer, the Hub called no answer. So when she got there we got the old bait and switch, whatever they tell you plan on it being $20-30 more. I called the regional manager 3 times and left 2 voicemails. I also left an online survey. This was all 3 days ago and I still have yet to receive a call back from any single waste of life that works under the public storage name. I would rather try to shove the contents of my 3 bed/ 2 bath home up my ass before I store it here. Save yourself the hassle and store your stuff anywhere but here! read more

Absolutely DO NOT rent from them!!! I have always used Public Storage for my storage. The most recent was when I rented in Sep 2017 after needing to move in and help care for my elderly parents. I rented at that time at $118/month. In less than one year, (4 months to be exact) my rent went up to $129.55 on 1/1/2018. Then again, one year later (2019), it went up again to $140.11, again another year later (2020), it raised to $147.32. In 2021, it went up again to $164.36. So, from September 2017 to Jan 2021, my rent increased by $46.36. That's over 4 years. This year, there has been yet another increase. This time, it jumped from $164.36 from Dec 2021 to $208.03 Jan 2022!!!! That is $43.67 in ONE YEAR!!!! I have been a faithful customer to them for every move, and this is the appreciation I receive??? I have already begun looking for another unit somewhere else, and will never rent from them again. I also am very good at word of mouth, so will defer anyone from ever renting from them. Not to mention, my unit is an outside corner unit that I see water damage on something every single time I go in there!!! Nope...I'm done!!! read more

Used this place when we moved here June 1st. to store some of our stuff until we could make room for everything. The place is nice and clean and the staff friendly. I gave it only 2 stars because they do not pro-rate the rent when you check out early. It is a little pricey too, $142 per month for approx 10 x 10 space. I wish I had thought more quickly and just kept it the additional 18 days to prevent them from getting paid twice on the same unit. Will not use again. read more

I rented a large drive up unit. The doors are a little had to roll up, but the unit was clean and easy accessibility from Babcock. Like another person put in their review, I was not comfortable buying a lock there. They just handed me a lock and two keys (most have 3 keys), with no packaging. I will just use a different lock to resolve any concerns. Otherwise, everything else was great. Diane was very helpful and knowledgeable, and processed everything very efficiently. Diane showed us a couple of available units to choose from. So far, everything looks great! read more

If I could give them no stars I would. Stay away unless you want your belongings stolen. Very bad place to store your belongings. First of all, when you first get the unit they try to tell you that insurance on the unit is mandatory. They push and push you to purchase the insurance from them. In fact the insurance is not mandatory. Then they sell you a lock. The lock is just handed to you with the keys. It's not individually wrapped or packaged in any way. My son stored all his college belongings here while home for the summer. Today I get an email stating that the locker was cleaned out. Someone just went there with a U-Haul truck and just cleaned out the entire locker without our permission. When you first rent the locker they ask a bunch of identifying information asking for your drivers license and a credit card. Upon check out they have no procedures in place to identify the person taking the belongings out of the locker. They have no security whatsoever there. There are no cameras and nothing that would deter anyone from stealing people's belongings. I guess they don't really care about showing identification when you check out. The thieves even took the lock so there was no evidence of a theft. It basically just looked like we moved our stuff out. I spoke to the manager, Jim, who basically said that nobody working that day saw anything suspicious and denied that the front desk person told my son that someone with a Uhaul came and cleared out the locker.
