The project was incredibly well organized, from getting our initial pricing through every step of installation; nothing fell through the cracks. They also handled all the back-and-forth with PG&E, which meant we didn't have to worry about a thing on that end. Dan Moran managed the project and kept everything streamlined throughout. After installation, he came back out for a consultation with my husband and me to walk us through the app and show us how to get the most out of our system. Cassius Camus, our energy consultant, helped us get set up with the right plan from the start, and Colton led a clean, professional installation. Every part of the process felt carefully handled. If you're considering solar, I'd highly recommend this team. They are professional, organized, and locally owned! They made a complicated process feel simple, and the job got done in record time as well.

When we raised concerns, I believe the salesperson my partner dealt with wanted to make things right, but sales leadership stepped in, dismissed our concerns as unfounded, and offered nothing. Those concerns were (and still are): 1) Sketchy contract execution. NPP offers a 5-year prepaid lease in partnership with Balto Energy. It lets homeowners offset installation costs because the leasing company collects a 30% federal tax credit (no longer available to homeowners) and, in NPP's words, "monetizes that tax credit over 5 years." The contract was executed by sending the DocuSign to just one partner, with all owners lumped onto a single signature line -- one person signing on behalf of the other. For a married couple in California, that's legally questionable under community property law, given a) the encumbrances placed on jointly owned property, and b) no power of attorney authorizing one spouse to sign for the other. I never saw the agreement until installation was underway. 2) Misleading claims. My partner was told, verbally and in writing, that we'd "own the system outright" at the end of the 5-year term. In truth, the contract contains only vague language about a fair-market-value buyout, with no detail on how to initiate it or who to contact at end of lease. We've had zero contact with Balto through this entire process -- only NPP -- yet NPP's sales director told us they have no role in the lease agreement once it's signed. In other words, they don't stand behind the product they sell. Don't be like us -- do your diligence (especially if you're over 65 and new to solar leases), verify every claim against the actual contract language, and make sure all owners review and sign every agreement.

The original solar systems were installed years ago by SolarCraft and Ambrose. When it came time to add a backup battery in Napa, we chose SonoMarin first. That project went so smoothly that we later asked them to install a battery on our older, more complex Marin system as well. Despite the added complexity, they handled both installations efficiently and got everything up and running without drama. Ayelet in the office deserves special mention. She provides near-instant responses to texts and emails, keeps everything moving, and somehow manages to coordinate all the moving parts with ease. If you've ever dealt with solar projects, you know how valuable that is. She had seemingly infinite patience for my never-ending questions, handling them with professionalism and speed. She also helped me apply for relevant rebates and helped interface with the nightmare that is PG&E, making it all look easy. The whole team jumped through hoops to get the system in before the tax break expired. SonoMarin is a small company, localled owned and run by the same people I originally worked with at SolarCraft on our first install years ago, which really shows in the level of care and accountability. Avner and Nick have built a great company. Pricing was competitive--frankly, all three bids we received were in the same range--but the execution and communication set them apart. I would recommend SonoMarin without hesitation.

when the people that are working for them are given the reigns to lie giving this information…read morepromising things that they can never keep saying they're doing things that they are not doing and calling you into hanging on costing thousands of dollars and you can't even reach the contractor they're supposed to be responsible for it and they don't seem to mind if you complain to the contractor state license board that would be my next stop. My name is David and I had a terrible experience with this company. I was kept strung along for a year and a half I do not have one solar panel on my roof. It cost me probably $40,000. I was out now lied to about so many things that have come to light as a strong along month after month embarrassingly, the number is probably low. It's hard for me to look at the real facts of it all beyond the fact that I know I've been out and now played here. I even stuck up for these people when I heard some similar type of news in the very beginning of my experience with them because what they said was so believable, but it was all a lie. I would not trust this place. I would not recommend this place. I tell you right now the contractor hold no accountability without going all the way to the contractor state license board. I suggest if you've had a bad experience with these people that's exactly where you go and you write against their license. It's the only way it's gonna shut this person down from continuing to play people. I am a homeowner and Petaluma for the most part I'm disabled and so is my wife. And tell these people I've never written a review about anything I've never shared, especially as embarrassing as this is with anyone said something so embarrassing and taking advantage of, but they claim so much on the fact that they're local bashing all the big companies that by now I would've at least had solar, but it's all a bunch of smoke mirrors all they're trying to do is get your money. I imagine it's a fair amount of people they do legit business with, but I promise you that is not what has happened with me because I was too trusting because when the warning signs came up, I just ignored them and wanted to believe them and let us go on for about a year and a half. I'm so upset. It's hard to write very much right now. I'm trying to put it out there though and get it all together so I can really connect with people and understanding they do have a way of getting to you when you open the door to the idea of doing business with them.
