I'm in the personal care industry so I know what to look for and what to look out for ;-) While there were no fluffy bathrobes or cucumber water to distract you from a mediocre massage that a lot of over priced spas perform, it was a relaxing, thorough massage. My experience with Melissa has been the best of all of them. It is very easy to communicate with her what you need and want and want and she does a great job. Haleiwa is a little far for some people (myself included) but I try to make a North Shore trip out of the day and it is always worth it. The cost of the massage is very reasonable, plus as a teacher I get a discount. You don't get the frills of a fancy spa here (but I'm not sure that's worth the extra $100 anyway) but you do get an awesome massage!

The vibe went downhill when the bridesmaid whose hair Dana did required an overhaul. Dana became openly hostile and the Bride was really upset with the behavior because it made everyone feel tense and took away from the fun of the day because having to fix the hair caused us to be really late for pictures. Several of the bridesmaids commented on Dana's attitude and her lack of customer service. Shawna and Annette did a fantastic job and the results are amazing! Annette came over to the wedding venue to do touch ups for the Bridal party. The spa facility is nice, plush and comfortable but not overdone.

I would give the spa 5 stars because overall our experience there was great, they let me set up an appointment on sunday, where they are normally closed. We had Kenny and his wife do our massges and from what me and my boyfriend concluded, they were great massages and they were very professional. i dont like talking during my massages and from what my boyfriend said and what Kenny did for me they were very focused into the massage and not chatty. they both did some work with hot stones and it was a first and they were a nice surprise and felt great. the only thing i had a little issue was when i first tried scheduling the appointment, the week before coming to San Juans, the first lady i talked to wasnt the spa director but she was very nice and gave me as much information as she could until the spa director herself would be able to get in touch with me. I didnt get a call back that day so i had to call again the next day, where i couldnt get a hold of the salon after multiple calls until i left a message. the director was helpful in the information she gave me but she did seem to be rushing me trying to get my appointment down and my information, so that was little odd for me.

The separate office/lobby was a large but cozy welcoming space with a fireplace, couches and coffee and a comfy spot to relax in. Also, not gonna lie -- accommodations are upscale Best Western level, which again, I have no problem with, but just so ya know, that's 300 greenbacks in high season. Hey, it's an island, I get it, there's not many options; Just throwing it out there. Our Queen Standard room was on the small side, but the bath/shower was perfectly adequate (if a bit dated), as was the A/C, and the bed and bedding was pretty comfortable. The staff too was awesome, cheery and happy to meet any need. We loved the pool and jacuzzi setup, and there's even a little exercise room in the same building. One thing I could have done without were the 5 or so emails I received before check-in, begging me to complete the online check-in form ahead of time, so I could just go right to the room without needing to stop at the office. Didn't work and I still had to physically check in. So yea, that was a pain. And yet? They still get 4 stars. Our one-night stay may have been expensive but it was very comfortable.

If you're used to "traditional" Swedish or other massages, some of what Roxanne does will be unfamiliar and seem a bit strange. If you can trust that she knows what she's doing (which she does) and experience it, at the very least you will have tried something new but likely, you will feel the benefit. If you don't want those things however - just tell her! She listens well and constantly seeks education on new techniques and healing massage therapy approaches. She also checks in throughput the session to make sure the pressure and other aspects are comfortable and acceptable. Besides that she is kind and generous with her time and knowledge. Her studio is comforting and cozy too. I can't wait to go back.
