I've been dealing with some pain in my legs for some time and finally bit the bullet to see someone about it. I found Rob on Yelp, he's not far from my house and his location is very easy to find. I opted for a 60 minute deep tissue/sports massage. My appointment with him was everything I was hoping it would be. He's very easy going and has been helping people for about 17 years. It shows. He was able to find knots I didn't know I had, was able to make me wince, but in the good way and feel optimistic that the pain I've been having will be going away with consistent care. Rob is conscientious of your pain threshold and is sure to check in regularly. What made me decide to book another appointment with him was that he 1. showed me some stretches I can do on my own to help and 2. didn't make the assumption I would continue coming back, therefore mitigating any pressure. New to Seattle and suffering from tech neck, Rob was my first massage in the area after reading other reviews here. They are not exaggerated. The first time we worked together I hadn't had a massage in months and was starting to get tensions headaches from my neck/shoulders after spending long hours in front of a computer. I explained exactly where I was having pain and he got to work opening up my tight shoulders and getting into deep mid back knots that usually evade others. I really appreciated that he didn't waste time in other areas and instead spent the entire hour session focusing on my back and areas of complaint. The techniques and pressure he used were also fantastic. First warming up large areas and then pin pointing tender spots that needed more attention. As someone who usually prefers spots massage from a PT, I feel like this was truly my first massage. There is ample parking and if your visit occurs after 4PM, then parking is free. The office has a decent waiting area and decorations were of personal items and pictures. Hands down the best massage I've ever had. I am a nurse and spend long hours on my feet moving and lifting immobile patients, and I was really looking for someone who could get in there and work out all the knots in my back. Rob is incredibly well educated in terms of anatomy and the muscular/ nervous system, and he helped me release all the tightness I had been holding in my shoulders and back. My muscles were sore after not having had a massage in "forever," and as a result of running, walking, cycling, strength training, etc. Many times with a massage the next day I feel sore in a "bad way," and did not experience this with Rob. The short review: The best massage I've had in Seattle. The slightly longer review: I think I've been able to lower my shoulders for the first time in years, Rob is a miracle worker. The nitty gritty review: For background, I used to go to a massage therapist in Michigan before I moved to Seattle around four years ago. For two years I tried to find the right massage in Seattle but often found that the touch was too light. That more massages were based around solely reaction and not working the knots out of my muscles. A friend recommended Rob to me and when I saw his picture I thought "those biceps look like they give a good massage." I cannot put into words just how good the massage was. It was everything I hoped for and more. Not only did Rob work wonders on my neck and back (whole back! Not just shoulders but entire back!) but also my hands and feet, and it felt like he didn't just realign my muscles but also a lot of my bones. It's no exaggeration to say that I felt like a completely different person having left Rob's place. My posture was different, my aches were gone, and like I said I could lower my shoulders which I haven't been able to do since I started this deck job! The only draw back is if you're used to massage or spa locations with waiting rooms, his place is a little different than expected. (Though he provided wonderful directions, I was just a little silly and confused but he was very kind about my confusion as well). And this is a very very very minor drawback as his place is cozy, warm, comfortable and relaxing.
