So I did the 2 week Groupon here at the Gaithersburg Soldierfit. Let me tell you I went EVERYDAY except for Saturdays because I work from 9am to 5pm and their class schedule did not work with mine. Here is what I thought. Location: Not so great, parking is HORRIBLE! lol The way they time their classes? parking is always filled up with gym members who are finishing up with workout and then everyone that is trying to make it to class on time are scrambling outside to find a good spot to park. Since they tow you want to make sure you are in an authorized spot. If you don't make it to the warm up? You cannot do the class! remember that. lol If class ends at 6:30pm and starts at 6:30pm? How can people leave and enter? They need to fix that. Make it 6:40pm. It will make a BIG difference. I have been working for Golds gym and thats how classes ran so much more smoothly. Size of gym: Kinda small honestly. At 6:20pm They have a kid class that is right next to the group workout area. They have little kids running with the adults during the warm up. My kids tried out the class and they thought it was "ok". They did not like running in the middle of room with the adults. (They were kind of scared to get hit) Teachers? They were GREAT!! Really pushed me and everyone in the class. If you have bad knees? Honestly? this s not good for you. Even if you go to a knee class? these work outs are going to mess up your knees over time. I went 6 days a week and I could tell the difference. If anything? Just stretch well afterwards. Pricing? Is pretty high! Its about $70/80/month for unlimited classes. I think if you had a personal trainer? its worth getting rid of the trainer and coming here. But its still high if your just looking for a gym alternative. Overall Soliderfit is a good place if you are looking for a push. Parking is terrible and the timing of class is not convenient for members at all to my opinion. The staff is great! Rigo is super friendly and has a warm approach! Never met Antione but he did help me over the phone. The two guys that work the front desk (signing in) were super friendly too!! SoldierFit Gaithersburg is still using photos from their former location in advertising because their new location is an embarrassment--a tiny, one-room building that is not only too small for most of the equipment they used to have but is too small for their Boot Camp classes. Participants can hardly avoid making accidental contact with each other while trying to exercise. A constant source of frustration is that the trainers are more attentive to their music selection and their phones than the exercise routine that they are supposed to supervise. And to add insult to injury, SoldierFit raised their membership fees to $125 a month. Definitely not worth it! read more

CONSUMER BEWARE!!! These are scam artists at its best, and the front office staff leaves a lot to be desired. I've been back and forth to Soldierfit over the years and to be honest, outside of the Dawn, Antoine, and Nick, the rest you should be cautious of. There has been major overhauls of structure over the years, and never does SF apprise their members of what's happening or what to expect with new changes. You are forced to sign your life away into a 12 month agreement, and their pricing tiers are grossly overpriced. They just hired a new recruitment manager, Fatima, and let's just say I should've trusted my gut instinct from the beginning. This was a HUGE step in the WRONG direction when this position was taken from Antoine. She is manipulative, she is a liar, and she is a horrible person to put at the face of recruitment. She doesn't understand her job, will throw you under the bus to protect her own image with the company, and attempts to regurgitate information without truly understanding what she's saying. Before signing up again, there was an issue with a past balance from years ago whom Russell in their billing department graciously forgave. Before that, Fatima and I had a discussion about this not once, not twice, but a few times and she promised it could be forgiven (before consulting with HQ) in addition to waiving the enrollment fee. I came in to sit down and enroll, she pulled up my old account and seemed to process everything through (including my first month payment) without issue. That is until I received an e-mail the following day from the Soldierfit system saying ' they couldn't process the balance on my account' which I was confused about since I had JUST paid. Well, Fatima also got a copy of this email and never reached out to me and swept it under the rug until I brought it to their attention. She then curved me and told me to talk to Dawn at the front desk who has never handled any of my billing. She also made up some story about there only being a balance from 2 waters on my account, that there wasn't anything else she saw which was untrue being as though I never even had outstanding water charges on my account. Come to find out, the system was attempting to charge me my outstanding balance from 2014/2015 and attempted to use my new card on file for payment. Listen, if SF had decided that I needed to pay this, fine, but to be intentionally misled by Fatima who is only about meeting membership quota at any cost and sacrifice necessary was infuriating! I could've been out money that I was promised would've been forgiven. She put blame on everyone else instead of taking responsibility for her wrongdoing...strike 1... I subsequently signed up for their $59/month plan (only because a friend I referred wanted to sign up) that allows you to workout up to 2x a week, no more than 8x a month. I originally chose this plan because I am a business owner, mother, and in school, so I could not commit to more. Upon seeing how hectic my schedule had become, I figured that since I had paid for 8 classes, I should be able to use all 8 classes within that particular billed month. When I called to confirm this, NOBODY knew the answer to this...not surprising considering they just threw this membership tier level out there pretty randomly, moving from their $99 a month base pricing. Anyway, I got in contact with Fatima who said 'she'd heard' I had some questions about this and that I HAD to take my 2x a week or I lost them. I NEVER was told this when signing up NOR did they have this as fine print on the contract I signed. She said they 'legally' can enforce this even though I was not given this info before committing to a contract. While she was eating in my ear, she condescendingly attempted to 'mock' my concern and, without thought, offer a cancellation instead of working to retain my business and make it right. She never once apologized for making this mistake by not divulging this information, because again, her image with the company....strike 2 I called today to talk to HQ about my concern and Fatima made sure to be the one who answered the phone, only to deflect me to Russell (accounting manager???) to talk about an issue with an employee, her....even though I know that they now have a HQ employee on site whom I'm sure Fatima has brainwashed by now. She had spread rumors amongst people that she FORCED me into a cancellation when that clearly wasn't the case. She's a horrible, horrible image for Soldierfit and definitely not what Danny built this company on. I'm not surprised considering she was on Facebook begging for someone to hire her just a few weeks before coming to Soldierfit. I'll miss the trainers and especially Dawn and Antoine, but the shady business that Fatima is creating I cannot subject myself to and I'm sure more troops will back out eventually.... read more

They can't seem to retain good trainers and boot camp classes have become boring with same routine as of 5-8 years ago, no upgrades on equipments, no clean bathrooms and showers, no feedback about movemens to make sure that one is working out safe and getting best workout possible. Some instructors are not good and sadly they have decided to raise everyone rate to $99 to $124 with new members joining at the rate of $156 a month with a reason behind being national pandemic. Paying that kind of amount in a warehouse building with no amenities no HVAC, no free WIFI, no lockers, dirty mats, carpet isn't my priority. read more

I have been to a lot of gyms. I have been to Sports & Health - multiple times, Equinox, Gold's Gym, etc. The only gyms I have not tried were the recent gimmicky one's like Orange Theory. I decided to try this place out because I have always been curious about "functional" fitness and since this place was relatively close to my home, I wanted to try this place. It is a rather small gym, but that is the beauty of it. There is enough parking in my opinion, but I can see how busy days such as Saturday could get a bit cramped. I am one of those people that really hate being in a large gym with a lot of people there. I like having the gym to myself - even though it isn't really to myself. I know, I have to share. The only other place that I have came close to that feeling was Equinox, but I was never motivated to continue going there. I really like how everyone there was motivated. I remembered taking one of their "Boot Camp" classes and came out of it completely wiped. I remember waking up the next morning beyond sore - but still had to go to work. Each "Boot Camp" has a different set of drills or exercises and they do not ridicule you in any way for falling behind. During my first try, I was behind by a lot and I couldn't really keep up during the second half, but I tried my best and felt good that I stayed towards the end. There are rules for attending these classes - wear their free t-shirt and bring a water bottle - but these weren't a big deal. I stuck to it because the gym wasn't packed and it felt more comfortable being there than any of the other gyms out there. I never felt discouraged in coming back. By the second week of coming here, I have already seen improvement in my appearance and endurance. The second/third time of "Boot Camp", I didn't feel so wiped out or felt sore when I woke up the next morning. I never felt so "fit" and good about myself in such a long time. As for the price, it is on the pricier side, but I see it along the same lines as Lifetime and Sports & Health. Again, the big thing for me was the fact that it was on the smaller side and it felt more comfortable, so I decided with SoldierFit. They do not have locker rooms, they do not have mirrors, or all the things that other gyms have, but the one thing I really do see is that the trainers and staff there are more focused on each person. It really is more on a personal level compared to people who just see people come and go all day everyday. I even a physical check up there, testing my strength and flexibility and had a talk with the trainer to determine what I had to work on. This comes with the membership and is supposed to lead you to getting a trainer, but I do like how they take that step to show you some exercises to show you where you need improvement rather than just unleashing yourself randomly at the gym. It is pricier than Gold's Gym, but I do prefer coming here rather than going to a more crowded generic-ish gym. However, if you are the type of person who loves the gimmicks and the luxurious feel of a gym, then splurge on Equinox. For me, I am aiming for results - wedding coming up soon - so the glitz and glamour isn't for me at the moment. About a month in, this place has given me the motivation to keep coming to the gym. No bitchass-ness allowed!!! Had my free trial bootcamp this afternoon...And I just been worked over! Im sore...Im exhausted, but strangely I want some more. What does this mean?!?! It means I just had a great workout!! Non-stop Sprints, squats, blurpee (i hate them with a passion), pushups, some abs, some more variations of squats/lunges, and definitely more sprints. Its what you would expect from a bootcamp class, but better. Towards the end, some of the soldier fit members were congratulating me on completing my first class..and the instructor (some huge military guy with the red hair and sweet quirky personality) was very engaging and encouraging. There was a point during the class where my body was burning in exhaustion..and i could hear an inner voice say "you gonna' learn today" haha! But the instructor just told me to keep moving..to keep going..and that I'm doing great (..you sure?), but surprisingly, I was able to keep pushing. Also, His random dance steps were awe inspiring cause it distracted me from pain. So take home point, its a seriously intense workout without any extra craziness from a wanna be drill sergeant (like what you see in the movies) And nobody is yelling at you to "get down and give 20", but see..I kinda like that sorta thing. Maybe not in the first few classes, but I do enjoy alil roughness...a little military style..no pain/no gain type workout..so I wouldn't necessarily mind the yelling or commanding of a squat or sprint. Ok..one star deduction cause it is a little pricey and the place is hot, but I think its worth it if you're serious about committing to it. But f*^% it, one star given back cause it was the best workout I've had in a long time. My friend was dying for me to take a free trial class at Soldierfit (SF). After visiting the website I decide to take the challenge. I have taken boot camp style classes before and wanted to maintain my exercise with this work out style. The Gaithersburg location was large, clean, and organized. The GM was fabulous giving me a tour and answering every question I had. He really spent time with me and I even got to preview a class for 15 minutes. The GM really didn't give me a sales pitch which I liked. He really gave me his passion of why he was there and how much SF meant to him. I think that's what really sold me! I ended up taking my free trial class on a separate day and it was amazing! It was DIFFICULT BUT I felt like I was on top of the world. I was finally getting back in gear, getting in shape, and most of all I had a new attitude. It was at my own pace and if I felt tired of if I couldn't do a certain exercise, the instructor would show me a modification or I would just take a break. Exercises include: Sprints, running, sledge hammers, tires, weighted ropes, TRX, weighted balls, kettle bells, and etc. Every class is a different workout and never the same. It is "military style" with highly trained/educated instructors, being on time for the class, and mandatory uniforms (SF shirts only). However, you have nobody screaming in your face to drop and give you 20 or calling you names etc. Instead, SF really promotes family. Hence the uniform; you want all your troops to be on the same team and not go against each other. This was such a big highlight when I joined SF. Everyone was being competitive within themselves and not others. As for the negative comments regarding the contract: people should really read before they sign. Everything is laid out in the contract regarding cancellations and payments. Awesome place to workout and be! Be prepared to sweat non-stop! I have been doing Soldierfit since March '12. At that time, I had just signed up for Tough Mudder, and working out at the gym just wasn't cutting it so a friend told me about Soldierfit. I tried a free class and it made me sooooo sore, but I loved it!! Soldierfit is a boot-camp style fitness program, incorporating endurance, core, and strength training. You will find yourself doing kettle-bell swings, burpees, lunges, pull-ups, some type of animal walk, tire flips, butterfly kicks, etc. When I first started, I could barely do the five minute warm-up run without feeling like I was going to die. Fast forward a year later and I have never felt better or stronger in my life. I am able to run for miles without stopping, and also do back to back classes. Plus, I completed the Tough Mudder without any injuries! :) Not only are the workouts fantastic, you will meet some great people there too. The "black hat" trainers and employees there are the nicest people ever. They will always be there to help you out. Antoine is amazing! I definitely recommend going to his classes. Your fellow "troops" are equally awesome and motivating to work out with! It is about $60-70 per month and you may think that is expensive, but this is for UNLIMITED classes that are held throughout the day, at ANY Soldierfit location! Compare that to your local gym or cross-fit or any other boot-camp. You will definitely find a better deal here! Plus, they offer free nutrition seminars to help set you on the right track for healthier eating. My main issue with SF is that they moved into their own stand-alone location in Gaithersburg. I purchased a $17 Groupon for two weeks of unlimited bootcamp classes for this SoldierFit location. A great deal - a little more than a dollar per class if you go at least once a day! SoldierFit boasts a workout that combines bootcamp techniques with functional fitness training. So think lots of pushups, burpees, kettlebell work, bear crawls. -- CLASSES: The classes covered a wide range of movements and activities that definitely work you out. They operate in "stations", where you rotate either after a specific time or a specific number of reps hit. What was missing for me was the use of free weights and targeted workouts for a specific body part. I never really felt sore, just winded after class. I doubled up on classes back-to-back a couple times. Working with a partner (like picking up where one person left off on the way to 100 reps) took a bit of getting used to. I often noticed instructors carried on without fixing form. Not only is it a missed opportunity to educate your members, but could potentially lead to injury. FACILITY: If you're looking for something modern and sleek, this is not the place for you. It is located in a very industrial area, with limited parking. The bathrooms appeared unkempt and I was surprised to learn there are NO showers. I never took advantage of the early morning workouts for this reason. You share the turf with the Kids Kadet classes that goes on at the same time. As someone without kids, I did not enjoy this. I could easily spend my membership money at a facility where I do not have to share a space. It is hard to hear the instructors over the music and all the movement. --- I ultimately did not join SoldierFit as a member because, for that price, I wanted weights. When I brought that up, their suggestion was to add in the personal training package, which is a total ripoff at two thirty-minute sessions every month. Sure, personal training is expensive everywhere, but at least they're an hour long. Just as your members are dedicated to fitness, dedicate your time to them. I tried it out and I have to say, it was fun and a hell of a workout! I'm in the fitness industry myself and I would totally take this class again. I love the family vibe everyone gives out and how supportive people are there! The instructors go above and beyond and if you ask they will help you with the workouts. In fact, I don't consider it a 'workout' if it's not. By the time I was done, I was soaked in sweat! The staff is very motivational, and inspiring. Where else does the owner, themselves, teach a class? Greet you @ the Front Desk? Come by and shake your hand after a workout to tell you what a "good job" you did? Hand out his personal ph# and email? I don't know of any. You can't go wrong w/a FREE trial, folks. Just be ready to werq! No bitch ass-ness!!! I heart Soldierfit. What I don't heart is the Gaithersburg facility. SF is a new company without a dedicated location. They hold classes at 6(?) gyms/studios in the area, but the Fort always seems to be packed! Un/fortunately, it is the most convenient to me (7 min door-to-door) so while I do grumble at bumping elbows with 30 other "soldiers" I will still come here. Onto the good stuff. 1) The workouts are unlike anything you've done before. I don't care how toned you are, a SF workout will challenge you. When was the last time you flipped tires and hauled body bags around the gym? 2) The workouts are customizable. The instructors know that they are pushing your physical and flexibility limits and always offer a beginner version of the exercises. At least half the class is doing this modified version, don't be intimidated. 3) The instructors are hot! I almost caught diabetes my first class, there was soo much eye candy. Lordy! I got all school-girl crush shy the first 4 classes, but then I started flipping tires and forgot about trying to be cute. Try it once! You'll be hooked! read more

I'll start off by saying that their bootcamp is amazing, but when it comes to billing and membership questions they are absolutely horrible. I've been a member since January 2017. In late 2017, they had a promotion for personal training. I signed up and they didn't waste a moment in charging my card. I was told someone would be in contact with me to set up a date and time to meet for training. A few weeks went by, no one called so I called the location. Was told someone would get back to me soon. No one did. After almost two months I asked for a refund for a service I never got but was told they were unable to give me a refund. So I did the few personal training classes with someone who had just become a trainer and they were honestly a little pointless. For my love of the bootcamps, I didn't cancel. I became super busy this year and didn't go for almost two months at the beginning of 2018. Two weeks before by billing date, I called their billing department to freeze my account. I called about 4 times, never being able to get through to anyone, got one callback that stated it was handled, I called back 5 days before my billing date, they confirmed it was handled, and then my billing date came around and guess what? I was charged! I called to get a refund, spent 15 minutes with someone on the phone who told me they couldn't find my account at all. They literally said "I'm not sure what to do? I can't find it. Are you sure your name isn't a different last name maybe?" Seriously? I was ultimately told that they had no record of a freeze and that the process I explained wasn't correct for processing a freeze. So now I'm short $60, because someone else didn't do their job correctly. Definitely cancelling my membership after this. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE OF BUSINESS. Soldierfit has amazing work outs but when it comes to billing and customer service I have NEVER experienced worse. First of all, my boyfriend and I signed up together and we were supposed to get the first month free. They charged us for the first month. Then we were supposed to get the next month free instead. They charged us again. This happened at least 2 more times. Any time we tried to reach the commander Antoine Robinson he was either "not there yet" or "busy at the moment." He also NEVER returned phone calls or emails. We were supposed to meet with him for our weigh in and consultation and he didn't show up. Our cards were also charged for late fees when the account was not only paid on time, but also CHARGED THE WRONG AMOUNT. We have since cancelled our accounts and I am STILL receiving emails stating that they can't get the funds out of my account. I called billing and they are charging us almost $200 dollars, $75 of which are "late fees" that shouldn't have been on the account that they apparently can't take off since the account is closed. Nothing makes sense. There is no common ground amongst anyone. When we cancelled the account we weren't even told that a balance needed to be paid. We just found out because we called about the emails that I still receive. I would NEVER go to Soldierfit again. If you love the workout, I would advise looking for an alternate bootcamp. There are plenty of bootcamps in the Gaithersburg/Rockville area that will treat you better than Soldierfit does. read more

I love this gym!! I don't get there as much as I would like! Everyone is super friendly and the staff all knows my name and honestly cares about my well being. I went in with one friend and have come out with a ton of friends from the classes. I feel better then I have in years from the workouts and i am doing obstacle races with my soldierfit family that I never would have even thought about doing prior to joining soldierfit and getting back into shape!! read more

Obsessed!!! I took my first class today and immediately signed up.. This gym is exactly what I was looking for. When relocating to Maryland I was so bummed to have left my other gym in Phoenix, I just didn't think I would find anything that I liked or anything was similar. I did try another small group fitness class at a different gym and just didn't have a good feeling about how they were letting people perform the exercises, it didn't seem safe... So my search continued and I went to Soldiferfit... So happy I did. I was used to doing burpees, sit ups, push ups, wall balls, jump rope, etc., and this place offered just that. A great run or cardio warm up, stations set up with proper explanation of the exercises and modifications, and a wonderful enthusiastic trainer. I loved the group workout and the motivation from the trainer. A few logistics.. Your first class is free, definitely take advantage and see if it's for you, it was definitely for me. You do wear a "uniform" to keep everyone similar and to play into the military aspect. Everyone on the same playing field. They do give you a shirt when you sign up and then you can purchase more soldierfit gear. I like it :) I would highly recommend if you are looking for a small group fitness training/gym to go to. I don't want to call it a boot camp because I feel like that can have a negative connotation.... I think of a bunch of women in the park doing weird workouts with baby weights... This more than that. A GF at the time talked me into going with her for a class and I ended up signing up. Now she's gone but I still go a few times a week. The instructors know what they are doing and are supportive of everybody regardless of your skill level. If you're tired....rest. If you're thirsty.....get a drink. They keep it fresh and only a handful of times have I gone two days in a row and ended up doing some of the same stuff. I LOVE SOLDIERFIT! Joining this program is one of the greatest things that has happened to me in the past year. It has allowed me to rediscover myself and has put me on the right track to a healthier and more active lifestyle. As a person that has tried just about every DVD out there from P90x to TaeBo - I can tell that this is worth it! The "black hats" and "cadre" (staff) are very professional and friendly. They assist you to ensure that you are properly executing each exercise so that you do not injure yourself. Additionally, the routines they come up with are never the same, so you won't have to worry about becoming bored with the program. The routines consist of entertaining, yet challenging exercises. People of any fitness level can participate in this program and the results are phenomenal! Although this program is "bootcamp style" - you will not experience pressure or anyone getting in your face - only positive motivation. Being a part of Soldierfit is like having a whole other family, Everyone, including the other members, is there for you when you need them to help you in your fitness journey and even far beyond. The camaraderie among the members and staff is incredible. The program itself is affordable (the prices are not ridiculously high, unlike other fitness / bootcamp style programs). The contract is reasonable and straight forward. This program offers class times to fit into whatever schedule you may have (I'm a mother of two and work 40 miles from home - and still manage to find classes to attend). Childcare is also available for people who require it, so you have one less excuse for not working out. I would recommend this program to anyone, because it is totally worth it! The workouts were great but the group dynamic just isn't my thing when it comes to working out. I watched some videos, got caught up in the excitement and signed up. The website and videos I watched made it look great. I attended a few classes and just found out working out in a group like this isn't for me. I prefer to workout solo or with a friend not a large group. I also ended up moving jobs and changing schedules to the point where I couldn't easily make use of my membership. Management wouldn't budge on letting me out of the contract and I ended up paying a ton of money for something I didn't really end up using. If you like working out in a group this might be for you just be 100% sure it is. Otherwise you'll make a super costly mistake like I did. read more

I am an owner of a fitness company myself, and I am usually unimpressed...but these guys were just incredible, inspirational and impressive!!! I highly recommend their program. They are VERY committed to their clients on and off hours, its a constant connection they maintain with their clients and team. I am looking forward to them opening up in VA so i can be a regular. I have been a part of Soldierfit for about a month now. I go at least 3 days a week and find myself yearning to go on the days that I don't go. Ray and Antoine are AWESOME instructors at the Rockville campus. I feel myself getting healthier and I am ADDICTED to the after burn. Ppl of all fitness levels are part of the team and everyone really pushes each other. Try one class (for free) and you will be addicted too. I had actually joined Soldierfit Columbia until I switched jobs and moved to Gaithersburg. When I started I loved the coaches, loved all the workouts, and always walked out feeling better that day. The company changed a lot in the 2 years I was there and found by the end that the new coaches weren't in great shape, many coaches missed opportunities to correct form, cared too much about their playlist, and classes became quite repetitive. The Gaithersburg location doesn't have showers and parking during evening classes was AWFUL, sometimes had to park down the street. I got pretty fed up with boot camp classes and began doing more of the trainer led workouts and gym side classes which are actually pretty great. I think the company in general needs to spend more time with coach development, especially new coaches and corrective exercise. Anybody can tell you to do 100 push ups and 100 jumping jacks, make sure the members are doing them right. Without that, it's not worth the $80-$100 a month. read more

First of all, the workouts are definitely workouts. They work , as long as you give it your all. Great alternative to the gym. Has an amazing staff that was always supportive and made sure that you pushed yourself as far as you could go without pushing you too far. They are growing rapidly and I hope they continue to grow. The only complaint I have is the schedules. I wish they had later classes and that all the locations had classes daily. I was hard to try to make it to a class after work especially after rush hour or a metro commute. But if the schedule works for you, I absolutely think you should try it. Also the person who convinced me to give it a try was Lionel aka: Lion. I can truly say he never made it sound like a sales pitch but rather made you feel like he genuinely wanted to help. I hope they can expand their schedule so I can rejoin. read more

I highly recommend the gaithersburg soldierfit. Im dealing with lower back issues and am itching to get back into bootcamp classes and being able to workout without lingering back pain. I decided to start personal training to help get me back on track after talking with Antoine, who informed me that soldierfit has experience dealing with injuries. David, my trainer, is amazing and Im really glad I started working with him. He's very knowledgeable and Ive learned so much from him about body mechanics and proper movements. Its not a cookie cutter session either! Tailored to my specific needs. Im feeling much stronger and so excited about my progress! I can not believe how much I sweat working out in this program. And I THOUGHT I was doing something at the gym lol! I went for the first time about a week ago and loved it. The ad in the local mailer was a bit deceiving or maybe they were. After my first trial workout they were pushing the 12 month contract when there was also a 3 and 6 month contract also available. I really liked them and I am sure that I would get fast results. Unfortunately, I already have a gym membership and I don't want anymore contracts. read more
