We installed a new ductless system in our 35 year old home on the McKenzie River in August of last year. 5 ductless units that required a lot of specialized installation. This company was spot on with everything and their prices were the lowest of my 4 bids. But even if they hadn't been the lowest, I probably would have gone with them anyway, just because of the way Bill approaches his business. The installation was on time, on budget, and everything worked great. We could not have been more pleased. Three weeks later, our home burned to the ground in the Holiday Farm fire. Within days, Bill reached out to express his sympathy and concern - and he offered to refund the profit he made on our project because he didn't feel right profiting from an installation we weren't able to enjoy anymore. We were very appreciative of his offer, but declined. He did a great job and we felt that he deserved whatever profit he had earned. We didn't reconnect with Bill at all the next 6 months - we weren't even thinking about the loss of the ductless units anymore. Then, on March 15th - out of the blue - we received a letter, a heartfelt letter, from Bill about how he's been thinking about us and wanting to do something to help. The letter brought tears to our eyes. Along with the letter was a very generous check. He said that after running all his expenses on the project, he felt that the least he could do was to give us this gift. This was not asked for; not expected; not even imagined on our part. This is the kind of person we should all want to do business with. This goes beyond ethics or integrity or fairness. This was about caring. When's the last time you felt that a contractor who did work for you actually cared, truly cared. Call Bill. You won't regret it.

I appreciated that they were always on time, and left everything in good order including vacuuming each day. I could not be more pleased and appreciative of the job these people did at my home and it is nice to have a warm house and a safe system throughout. I moved into this home in 1975 and I know I will love having AC in the summer which I have not had before in this home. They patched the ceiling and floor in the garage where it stood. I highly recommend them. They were real careful about disposing/recycling the old refrigerant properly. Our Alpine‑installed Lennox HVAC system failed after only five years when the compressor motor…read moredied. Even though the part was fully covered under warranty, Alpine insisted we pay for the labor, $1,100 in refrigerant, and the $125 service fee. When I questioned the charges, they simply threw the warranty at me and pointed to the line saying refrigerant isn't covered -- as if that excused a failure that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Their original bill came to $1,750 for a problem that wasn't ours to begin with. Being charged for someone else's mistake just doesn't sit right with me. I asked multiple times for the service manager to call me so we could discuss the charges. He didn't call until two weeks after the repair was already completed. He claimed he had called several times, but after checking my call log, he had only called once -- and didn't leave a message. If you're looking for a company that stands behind their work and communicates honestly, you may want to look elsewhere.

I decided to get a second opinion with Harvey and Price and their technician was able to find the simple leak and fix it quickly, and their price on the refrigerant was 1/4th the price of the other company. Not only did they save me a ton of money, but I was also not stuck without AC in my bedroom for 3 months during the hottest time of the year.

So many issues with their installation. We had them install a unit and have issues all the time…read morewith it. It is under warranty, and when something goes wrong, they are in no hurry to find the parts. We had to chase them down to get them to honor the warranty, and they were unconcerned about leaving us without heat for 6-7 weeks in January. Now we have a new issue come up and they said it's only with one of the heads. And, as long as the back unit stays off, we should be able to have A/C until the new part comes again (who knows how long that will be given last time it was over a month). Two hours after they left, unit stopped working again. Another season where JCO leaves us hanging without a working unit. Quality of new install, customer service, and diagnostics have all been unsatisfactory. Update: JCO diagnosed the issue during their visit as requiring a new PCB. I ran the self-correction for the wiring on the unit myself and the issue was rectified. So, the issue was related to them miswiring things at the last maintenance fix, and then misdiagnosing the issue at their latest visit. It's also convenient that their diagnosis would have required us to pay them for additional maintenance.

What's interesting is when we purchased our home 5 years ago, we hired them to look over the existing old system. What was great is that they mentioned 3 or 4 things that needed to be repaired, but also said they were things I could do myself much cheaper. So, instead of me paying a few thousand dollars for simple repairs, I did it myself for a few hundred. So, not only did they help me squeeze 5 more years out of the old system at a minimal cost, they proved honest and ethical HVAC companies DO exist, which is the primary reason they got our business. I got a ballpark verbal quote for installing an outlet for tv (power/hdmi) for 200-300 over a…read morefireplace. They told me they don't do written contracts for such small amounts. They showed up to do the work- had to leave twice to get other parts/tools (?). The installer asked me about placement of the outlet, and I advised that a 55" tv was going up- as long as the outlet would be covered, I didn't care if it was centered. They installed the outlet and left. Then I got the invoice, and it was for $625(!!!!)- Well over DOUBLE was the high end of my quote was. They wouldn't give me a reason for the price hike, but arbitrarily lowered it to $400. Oh but it gets better. When I measured for the bracket to hang the 55" tv.... 3" of the side of the outlet was showing. (Note- it would be closer to covered if you just measured 55" across the bottom. But it would not have occurred to me that I would have to give an electrician instructions on how to measure a tv on the diagonal). That meant I either had a huge outlet home showing next to my tv on the wall or is have to get a bigger tv. The next size up for my tv of choice was an additional $500. J&K's solution for covering the outlet, btw, was to just hang the tv over to the side a little further. Ie, randomly off centered over a fireplace. I tried to work with them, agreeing to pay some amount, but that even $400 was not reasonable considering that they didn't actually do the job I hired them to do- and worse, cost me additional money. So the job that was quoted at 200-300, ended up costing me $900 (the job +the cost to cover up their mistake). Would not recommend.
