Every time I go there I feel like the person I get is the very best I've ever had. Went here after reading good reviews. Never again. Paid $165 for two sets of nails for my girls. One set fell off after a week. Went back to get redone and owner Miriam, would not redo for free. She said it had been a week and it was too long that nails should need to be redone after that amount of time. Ridiculous! Never had I had a set done that fell off after a week. Not one nail but ALL nails fell off. While here, another lady came in having to redo her polish because her GEL polish chipped in less than a week!! Stay away from this salon!! Solace Nails was wonderful. I went in search of a new nail salon and I am quite particular with my nails. I made my appointment through yelp and the owner responded to my request promptly which was wonderful. Miriam did my refill and she made sure to pay close attention to the details of my nails which I respected and enjoyed. Her hand and back massage I have to say made me feel quite relaxed and I've never felt so relaxed during a manicure service as I did with Miriam! She even helped introduce me to the wonders of paraffin wax to help moisturize my hands. My nails look wonderful and I am quite pleased. The refill cost itself was a good price but the extra $15 for gel caught me a little off guard as other salons I have been to haven't up-charged me (I will usually pay $27 for a refill with gel polish). This place is amazing! I was looking at multiple nail salons in the Fort Washington area for my go-to place. This was maybe my fourth nail salon I tried around the area and I'll definitely be going back here from now on. I got a gel manicure here and it was a wonderful experience. The service was great and they did an awesome job with my manicure. I had a specific design that I wanted and the nail technician and the manager took their time helping me select the colors I wanted. I went to solace nails and got acrylic done on my real nails which lifted a week after. Annoying when I paid 65 dollars for nails that didn't last a week. So I call and they seemed very understanding and willing to help but at that point I didn't want the red anymore so I said I was willing to pay for a new gel color. Helen then filed most of the acrylic off my real nails and everyone knows when they do that it gets really hot and hurts so that was fun and then INSTEAD of putting on acrylic to refill my nails she paint gel right over my nails that have left over acrylic on them.... WHAT??? I was so in shock I couldn't even say anything to her because I thought she filed it off. After I look at them the lines aren't even straight on the easy design I asked for. Went with 2 girlfriends for the first time and during the spa pedicures my 1 girlfriend said it seemed her staff person had never done a pedicure before, was asking other staff what to do next, places a tool on the floor to then be corrected by another staff person, etc. They only offer water, no alcohol or other beverages. My pedicure experience was great, however 5 days later my polish has chipped significantly and I've never had a pedi last such a short time. Won't be returning, too many other competitors in the area with similar pricing. Toe polish should last me at minimum 7-10 days! read more

The worst for acrylic nails. I paid $60 for a full set and the tips were bending and breaking the next day. She didn't put nearly enough acrylic on there, they looked like press ons! I went back to have them fixed and Miriam "tried " to fix them. The acrylic that she put on had lumps and bumps, SO uneven. Also, I asked for coffin shaped, they look more like ovals. I rarely get my nails done anymore but wanted to treat myself so I stopped by Solace on a Wednesday afternoon. There is street parking available but also a small lot located behind the business. Upon entering I was greeted and asked which services I would like. I was interested in a pedicure ($30) and a polish change ($10). There were plenty of polishes to choose from including OPI and Essie regular colors plus gel as well as their long wear nail polish. I chose a standard polish for my toes and Essie Gel Couture (+$3) for my nails. I like gel but I keep my nails super short so this seemed like a good option for me. My pedicure was approximately 35 minutes and my tech was Carol. She was gentle yet thorough. I had an ingrown toenail that she painlessly removed. My nails were trimmed to a nice even length and cuticles neatly trimmed. Feet were scrubbed, massaged, then polished to a smooth finish. Next up was the polish change which was done precisely with two smooth even coats applied to my nails. So sloppy job done here! I'm so happy I found this place and will surely be back in the future. I generally don't write reviews but I was left speechless by my experience here. And I apologize cause this post will be rather long. TLDR; I feel like I was blamed. My first visit was fine, got gel done and they looked great - but I initially told them my nail was broken (I used super glue to keep it intact), but when the filing was done she kept picking at the nail and insisted that it wasn't broken and I told her it was but again she kept flicking it and said it's not broken. And I just said fine do what you will - so no glue/powder was placed over my broken nail just straight into gel. Well the next day that nail broke, but work got in the way and I couldn't make it in during the week. Couple days later I call and ask for an appointment on Saturday and informed them that my nail broke and that I need it fixed - they said okay and put me in. Fast forward to Saturday I come in and say "Hi, I'm here my 11AM appointment", they seat me, and I tell them I need my nail fixed. The lady doing my nails just looked and said no we can't, then another lady says no we can do it just use glue and powder - so at this point I'm a bit confused, but seeing as my lady started soaking my nails, I figured they'd be able to fix it. She starts filing my nails and asks me if it's okay and I stare and say "it's fine, but what about my broken nail? Can you put a tip on it?" I'm then informed by another individual working that the person "who specializes in placing tips" is out and that if I could be patient and wait a week to come back to get that one nail done. I said well that's not possible because I'm going on vacation this week which is the main reason why I came to get it fixed. Then this individual told me I should've called beforehand and made an appointment stating that I need a nail fixed. I then told her I did that and had I known that no one else can fix a broken nail I wouldn't have gotten my nails re-done (at this point my right hand has all my original gel off and my left hand is soaking).. she then emphasized that I just come back mid week to get it fixed but again I tell her that I'll be on vacation. At this point I'm a bit upset but ask my nail tech to proceed. But that's not the end of it.. A walk in comes in and this individual looks at the schedule to see if they can accommodate her and says "oh it's 11:30AM - I don't think Dianne is here"............. I looked up and said "I AM DIANNE." I was just in so much shock that day and I apologize but I will not be returning to this salon. read more

I have now been to Solace for a pedicure three times since it opened, each time with someone different doing my pedicure. I tried Solace when I heard about them and took advantage of their grand-opening discount. I love going there and am always able to get in on my lunch hour, as I work locally. The salon is immaculately clean, the staff are cheerful and professional, there is a wonderful variety of polish brands and colors to choose from, the massage chairs are the best I have even been in. One of my favorite things, and I hope this will not change, is that each time I've been there, people have been quiet and not talking loudly or on their cell phones, which gives it a true spa feeling for me. The pedicure includes a long and relaxing foot and leg massage, as well as a short hot stone massage, and there is always a neck and shoulder massage while sitting at the drying table. There are complimentary bags of chips and snacks, and I am always asked if I would like something to drink. Candy, Jane, and unfortunately I cannot remember the other name are wonderful. Miriam, the owner, is a sweetheart - warm, gracious, and thankful for your business. As long as Solace remains as wonderful as it is, I plan on being a continued loyal customer and will not hesitate to recommend Solace to my friends and coworkers. read more

Just stopping by Yelp to leave another great review of Solace. The little extras you get at Solace make it well worth paying $30 for a pedicure. Other salons try to hit you for an upgrade charge for a 10-minute foot and leg massage, but at Solace, it's included, as well as the back and neck massage while you are at the drying table. No matter who I have had do my pedicure, I always leave there feeling relaxed and happy with the service. I've had Sue, Helen, Julie, Candy, and Hannah - every one of them is experienced and does a great job. The massage chairs are great, and the spa is clean. Miriam and her staff are there to please, and it really shows. I love a nail spa that discourages people from talking on their cell phones, and although I have not seen signs requesting this, I wish all customers would refrain from that because it is so intrusive to the utter relaxing that a person wants to feel while having a nice relaxing pampering time. Most of the time when I am in Solace, I have not experienced anyone talking on their phones, and that makes it even a better experience. Go ahead people, text away, but please don't be chatty! I think the spa should put a sign up asking customers to keep their phone on silent and to remember that others are trying to relax quietly.
