The ambiance alone makes it feel like a retreat, and I could see myself coming back if a few things are addressed. That said, I booked a salt room session and left feeling unsure if the halotherapy element was actually functioning. I've been to several salt caves with active halogenerators, and there are consistent effects I usually experience: I feel the salt in my chest, my nose may start running or I might cough a bit as it starts clearing things out, and I almost always feel a sense of deep calm settle in after about 5 to 10 minutes. None of that happened here. I heard the machine running, but there was no visible salt mist, no salty taste on my lips, and no sensation in my chest, nose, or on my skin. Within 5 to 10 minutes, I actually found myself hoping the session would be over -- which has never happened to me in a salt room before. I felt antsy and restless, not relaxed, and even debated getting up and leaving early. That's when I really started to question whether the halogenerator was working at all. I asked about it after the session, calmly and out of curiosity. The staff member responded defensively, pointing to a bit of salt buildup on the output pipe as proof that it was working. But residue like that doesn't necessarily mean it was operating during my session -- that could've built up weeks or months ago. I explained that I've done halotherapy before and that I didn't feel any of the usual physical or emotional effects. I wasn't trying to be difficult, just offering feedback in case the generator needed maintenance. Unfortunately, the response felt dismissive rather than open to my experience. This place has a lot going for it visually, and I'd love to return if I could trust the therapeutic element was being taken seriously. If you're coming for actual halotherapy, I'd recommend asking how the generator works, when it was last serviced, and what to expect. The environment is gorgeous, but the experience didn't feel aligned with how real salt therapy usually affects me -- and that's hard to overlook.

To be fair, the gel pedicure absolutely met expectations. Andy did an amazing job with my pedicure -- he took care of my ingrown nails, the French tip line work was sharp and clean, and overall I felt he deserved the tip I left him because I truly needed that level of care and attention. Unfortunately, my Gel-X full set was a completely different experience. I originally requested almond French tips. Andy then suggested with my nail bed stiletto would be best. Andy did beautiful line work on 7 out of the 10 nails, but halfway through the service he ran out of the stiletto tips and used coffin tips for the remaining 3 nails, saying he would shape them to match the others. I brought up my concerns multiple times throughout the appointment because the process already seemed off to me, but he continued reassuring me that everything would look the same in the end. The problem is -- they didn't. Those 3 nails ended up bulky, wide, and visibly different from the others. I also found it odd that my nails and cuticles were not properly prepped beforehand, and the replacement tips were glued further up the nail bed instead of properly seated at the base like traditional Gel-X application. By the end of the appointment, I still voiced concern about how bulky the nails looked, but unfortunately I was actively working remotely and had urgent matters to return to, so I paid the $153 total $80 of that for my Gel-X full set including $10 tip and left hoping it just needed minor adjustments. After work, I called the salon and explained the issue. The receptionist scheduled me for a correction appointment the next morning at 10 AM and confirmed it would be free of charge. On 5/21/26, I arrived at opening time, though staff did not arrive until about 10:05 AM. Tracy and another employee inspected the nails and decided they only needed reshaping, despite me clearly explaining that the issue was not just the shape -- it was the bulkiness and placement. One employee even commented that I "should have said something yesterday," which was frustrating considering I had already voiced my concerns multiple times during the original appointment. To Tracy's credit, she did acknowledge that I had in fact spoken up. I could tell Tracy did not want to fix someone else's work, which honestly I understand. That responsibility should have fallen on management or ownership to properly resolve by having the original nail tech correct the issue. Instead, the fix felt rushed and dismissive. Tracy continued filing the nails despite me repeatedly stating they still looked uneven and off. At that point, I didn't want to argue further or create a scene, so I let her finish. Unfortunately, one nail on my left hand ended up looking even worse afterward, and the French tip line work became sloppy and uneven. This experience was disappointing because I really wanted to love this salon after hearing such positive recommendations. Their pedicure services absolutely deserve praise, and I will likely return for pedicures. However, I cannot recommend Gel-X full sets here unless you have the time and energy to closely monitor every step, repeatedly advocate for yourself, and stop the service the moment something feels wrong. I would much rather a salon simply tell me they do not have the proper supplies to complete a service correctly than improvise and still charge full price for incomplete or inconsistent work. The pedicure earned my trust, but the nails -- and especially the customer service during the correction appointment -- turned what could have been a minor mistake into an overall disappointing experience.

If you want fabulous color for your hair and a great hair cut, you must go see Mandy at Solace Day Spa!! I didn't really know what shade of brown I wanted for my hair. My hair is a very dark brown, almost black. I wanted a very pretty shade of caramel with dimension but no red which is a color my hair tends to lift! Mandy took what I said and created a beautiful color! EXACTLY what I asked for! When she asked me about a hair cut style, I told her my vision since I couldn't find a picture of it in a book. Again, Mandy was perfect!! She created a new hair style for me that allowed me to keep my long hair, but gave it body and an actual "style"!! I couldn't be more impressed or happy!! You must go see Mandy!! Not only does she do hair, she also does manis and pedis!! I had a pedicure with her and it was WONDERFUL!! As part of the pedicure, they massage your legs for about 20 minutes! It was so awesome, I'm not sure that I didn't fall asleep since I was so relaxed!! I have ingrown nails on both big toes and she was able to get them out without me asking or making me bleed!! AWESOME!! I honestly don't know why I am so surprised by her talent... she was trained at Vidal Sassoon!! She was a hair model for Mark Hayes, who is the National Creative Director for Vidal Sassoon. This is only my first time to book with her and she has already made me feel like one of her long time clients! You must book with her ASAP!! She is just a phone call away at Solace Day Spa- 703-660-9068!! You WILL NOT be disappointed! Thank you Mandy!! Courtney I. Alexandria, VA read more

I highly recommend Solace Day Spa. I have been going to Solace since they opened a few years ago and find them top notch in terms of customer service, cleanliness, value provided for the cost of the serivce, and having technicians who are able to give wonderful manicures and pedicures. I have not taken advantage of any of their other services but I see repeat customers every time I am in there (which is once a week). I don't usually make an appointment and always find that whoever is available at the time to always provide a really really nice manicure and/or pedicure. I compare this quality to some of the significantly more expensive Day Spas I have gone to over the years in the Alexandria. I have acquaintances who I know feel the same way. Cathy B read more

I went to this salon on Saturday January 4 to get my eyebrows waxed. I've been to the salon twice before and they did a great job, until recently. The lady that was doing my eyebrows didn't do a test to see if I had an allergic reaction and proceeded to apply the wax on my right eyebrow. Long story short, she burned my eyebrows and part of the skin literally came off. After realizing how bad it looked, I went back to the salon to complain about it and all they did was apply some ointment and that was it. I went home and the next day the skin under my eyebrows was severely red and inflamed. I wouldn't recommend this place , please visit somewhere else and make sure they do a test before apply the was. read more

This was my first encounter with Julep. Upon arriving I immediately noticed how efficient Julep's customer service was provided in a timely manner, and every client was instructed to wash their hands before being serviced (unique trademark & procedure). Prices were fair for services rendered. Nikki was very professional and honest in an exemplary way to me about the services and what she recommended to do on my nails. She was managing the staff, greeting all the incoming clients, and answering all phone calls while she was taking care of me. I was impressed by her performance in customer service & professionalism, yet I think a front desk person is needed to do these services. It did not bother me, yet I know certain types of clientele have different expectations and want no distractions. I was actually very impressed by her multitasking skills. She recommended a dip or Diamond nails over the acrylic I had ordered on my nails, so I decided to go in that direction. She explained how the Diamond nails was more durable and lasted longer than acrylic. It also came with a manicure. It was also more affordable. She took off the remnants of my acrylic which was a relief. The overall result was a more suitable option and very satisfactory. The only concerns I had were minimal, easily excusable, and resolved immediately. This is why I did not give the review a perfect score. I was not offered a drink like some of the clients. It was probably because I came in with a drink and did not ask. I bought a drink next door. There were some remnants of the nail powder dye left on my fingers and hands. I didn't notice all the dark nail dye all over my hands and fingers until I examined it outside, so I went back and had it immediately corrected to satisfactory standards. It has been a couple of weeks yet the nails look immaculate still. I scheduled another appointment and look forward to Nikki doing my nails again.

I have had subpar experiences every time at this establishment. I was moved two separate times so…read morethe nail tech could begin working on someone else. This alone is unprofessional. If you decide to work on another client, you should be the one moving. I was sitting with acetone for about 20 minutes. That is completely unacceptable, unnecessary, and unprofessional . This is after he used a drill on my dip top coat. He continued with the new customer and did not come to check my nails until I spoke up. He was beginning to put on tips for the other customer. The new nail tech asked me about five times if she could make one of my nails longer. I said no thanks, I want it how it is. A sign at the business says to talk to management rather than go to Yelp.. but the key here is that poor communication and service were evident. The business also only guarantees 7 days for dip, acrylic.. most places are two weeks. So they also are not confident in their skill and service. Also, there is a military discount but only for active duty members, not their spouses. That is so unfortunate. I'll be going to the nail salon further away from my house from now on. They support military members AND their spouses and provide a much better service. It took an hour and a half for my nails to be done.
