If you must be seen in brand names go here as they carry everything from Versace, Prada, Arnette, Burberry, Oakley, Ray-Ban and many others. You can get polarized lenses on some of the frames - helps enhance what you're seeing my making it clearer. They also carry kids sunglasses. Seeing how kids are at more of a risk to sun exposure it's nice to see the options available for wee ones. Granted, the Sunglass Hut is not for everyone but you if you do you'll come away with a great product that won't scratch being left on your dashboard.

Some of the stores are just too small and the kiosks don't offer much at all. They carry a good selection of name brand sunglasses, if that's what you are after. The prices are a bit higher for most of the glasses but if you look hard enough you can find a good pair for a decent price. I find that the selection on their website is much better, with better prices. Always give the website a look first and then call into the stores to see if they carry the pair you want. You might be better off just ordering right off the site as well.

In fact, he provided me with more information that any other optometrist or ophthalmologist I've seen in the past. I had an initial exam, then scheduled another exam the following week to have my pupils dilated for a better look. I'm trying to find out if my "floater" is a big deal. Everything turned out ok. My Rx for progressive lenses was bumped up a little bit. I found a few beautiful frames and narrowed it down to Prada. There are many gorgeous designer frames. Dr. Tu helped me choose some. He claims to be very fashion conscious as well. :) I'm impressed that he also took the time to explain all the lens options. He took my measurements. I used my Yelp! discount and he upgraded my lenses with no extra charge. It took 7 business days for my glasses to be ready. He adjusted them for perfect fit and offered me 50% off an additional pair within 3 months. I might consider sunglasses . He can direct bill the insurance companies.

I happened to fall in love with a pair of frames by the Swiss eyewear company Götti - round titanium frames with black acetate complementing their silver finish. Sadeeq, the Observatory's retail manager, was very helpful in recommending styles that would be of interest, and when I asked if I could have the store hold the glasses for a couple of months, they were happy to do so for a small deposit. I finally went in for my fitting a few days ago, and the service was just as good as it was in October. I love the new specs, and, unfortunately for my wallet, I will be back again (note to self: DON'T look at new frames on your way out of the shop next time).

Because of this, I didn't have very high expectations when I walked into the Observatory late on a Saturday afternoon, but they really won me over! This was such a great experience! Immediately when they saw me walk into the store they knew what style of frames would fit me. I didn't have to try more than a few pairs before we had a winner. 15 minutes later I was all measured up and done! And on Tuesday (a couple of days later) I will get my new glasses. Very excited! The store had an excellent selection of frames - much more exciting than what I saw in the other stores. In addition, the staff didn't just sell glasses, they had the required expertise to find the glasses that fitted my face. Maybe the frames were a bit more expensive than what you'd find at some other stores, but to have someone who really knows what (s)he is doing find the perfect fit is to me most certainly worth the extra bucks. Also, the lenses seemed to be about the same price as in other stores.

They were able to get me in the same day I called. The place wasn't very busy but it is quite small and I think relatively new. He was very thorough doing an exam on my baby's eyes and explained everything to me after he was done. Will be coming back!

I went to West Ed Mall about 9 months ago to have my eye exam, and then took my prescription to Second Specs at the upper level ( there is two- one lower by Galaxyland as well). I went during a business day- as I had booked it off for appointments- and I would probably recommend that if you want to avoid a crowd as mentioned by others. I had a great experience. The second I began to look the staff were friendly but happy to let me browse at my leisure. They carry some brand name, as well as their own brand. I went with their own brand- and I think it was about $140.00 all in. I have very several astigmatism- which affects the lenses that I can get. So once I chose my pair the gentleman checked and yep- they had my lenses in stock. He had me sit- and took some face measurements- told me to come back in an hour. I shopped, came back in an hour and a bit and we chatted. He was happy to direct bill my glasses, and then fitted them for me! They were perfect from the moment he slid them on- which amazed me as I have a crooked nose and usually am sitting through 10 adjustments in those fancy optical shops. I agree with the one reviewer that I can see glue in the corner of my frame however going onto a Year and it has made no difference and never come apart. The lenses are great and no problems with the coating- which usually happens to me! If you are sick of the jacked up prices - try here- great service and trust me nothing to lose!

They carry a huge lineup of sunglasses for fashion to active wear. I personally have one for when I'm biking, due to it's tighter arms, and another one for 'everyday' wear with a more relaxed fit. Although I do not need it myself, I appreciate how there is an 'Asian fit' style option due to the shorter noses of most Asians. There are a few locations around Edmonton that sell Oakley sunglasses, however none have as much selection as they offer at the Oakley store. They have a lot of different frame and lens combinations, and they allow you to customize your own in your order- before you'd be at the mercy of what the other retailers would have in stock. One thing I found annoying was how difficult it was to identify store staff. They dress 'normally' like the rest of us civilians, and a few times I found myself just talking to another customer. Regardless, when you are lucky to catch a staffer, you find they are a wealth of knowledge. They can recommend you the different types of frames you would need based on what activity you would be doing, and they also offer opinions on lenses to choose from. I even had a chance to their $4500 Elite C SIX Carbon Fiber sunglasses- it felt like nothing at all...but 'nothing at all' is exactly what would be left in my bank account if I bought them. Regardless, the staff had no hesitation showing this to me and were happy to entertain me.

The jackets were also on sale from $145 to about $85; that's pretty good. They carry items for both men and women and their men's section was pretty cool also. They have some really great winter jackets for people who like to ski and snowboard. It you were looking for some sunglasses or everyday ware or for skiing/snowboarding you can find here. Oh, they also have a great selection of backpacks and luggage; they have some really great styles, colors and crazy cool designs. They also carry some hats for the guys, just incase you wanted to know. The staff is really friendly and very nice. I felt really bad for the one girl who was so sick, she should've just stayed home and curled up in bed instead of trying to talk to customers. Over all, pretty cool place!

Anyways, in my pursuit of finding a reasonably priced dress to wear to a wedding, I decided to check it out again. And boy, was I impressed! I guess I caught the start of their 50% sale sale... because there was a TON left and it was all SUPER cheap. Lots of great brands - Dex, Supertrash, S. Oliver, Kensie, etc... And it was funny how some great quality clothing that isn't necessarily popular in North America was the cheapest! I got an S. Oliver blouse for $12... which is insane, since they retail for around $60 in Europe. And Supertrash jeans for $15 (I had actually never heard of the brand before, but looked it up when I got home and I guess they're $150 jeans? nice!) They also seem to get a lot of unsold stuff from local stores - I saw American Eagle jewellery, shoes, and bags as well as Urban Outfitters jewellery. The layout is clear, organized and very spacious. Even though the store just opened, there's already a clearance section ! This place has some pretty expensive high end brands as well as some more affordable items. If this is your first time in a store like this, just be aware that some of the prices are more expensive than most people are usually willing to pay. For example there's a sweatshirt by Wildfox for $79.99 saying "Shopping is my Cardio." Unless you don't mind splurging on luxury items, some prices in this store might cause some sticker shock. I also found many items in this store to be pretty reasonably priced. Some decently priced items are mixed in with the expensive items. For example, I saw a Designer Lab dress for much less here than what I paid at the Bay. I also saw some tops priced just under $25 and some of the costume jewelry was under $15! If you love fashion, come check this store out! There's a good chance you might find something you like!
