Let's start with food. I had the Gordita plate. It was well below par. The chicken was very dry! The beans and rice had no love. PLAIN! The store bought tortillas were straight garbage. Tough to chew. The salsa that came with the chips was very mild and watery. But for the $20 price tag I had to swallow it down. Service was slightly better. The server was monotone. BAD Discrimination simply for an innocent complaint for a wrong order given to me. I ordered 2 orders of chilaquiles Mexicano. Got Eggs, beans, Rice for both. They had the order right on their end. I was thinking maybe I messed up- but no. They told me it would be comped. Weeks later- No compensation. Nothing. I paid $30 for something I could put on warmer for 5min. 4 eggs. Beans. Rice. $30. After being treated & costs for what I never ordered- They also- expected ME to drive 40 minutes from my job site to replace the order and PAY on top of it. Couldn't it be a free order some other day?? NO STARS. When I complained- I said 'aguachiles' (we all say the wrong thing sometimes) instead of chilaquiles. And the Family Del Sol said, 'Think you have the wrong place. We don't have that.' Giggled And hung up on me AGAIN. I strongly discourage any business like this. I never had a problem before. But maybe FIX - YOUR mistake?? 'No we're offering 10% off your next order...that's all we can do.' No it's not! It's eggs, beans, rice.. If that return is worth more to you than a good customer- I wonder on your sanity already. Not even common sense!! I've been in customer service & food over half my life. Ridiculous. And to be MORe than RUDE on top of it- when I had been nothing but polite. I even speak basic Spanish. I feel sorry for those that don't and go here. This family clearly has no idea how to run a business or treat people. But they continue to because it's a monopoly here- where else do you go? You want to be discriminated against- & laughed at behind your back- go here. I've heard 4 other terrible stories from people who live here. Just bringing up 'customer service in this town'... I don't even live here but have been for a long time working. These people are extremely rude & I can tell you- don't deserve business until changes in attitude are made. This is one of our favorite places to eat for ANY meal. We are a big family, 2 adults and 5 kids, and we all find something we like. We meet my brother and his family here quite often for breakfast on Saturday mornings. The staff is friendly and know good food. read more

Food: don't order American food at a Mexican restaurant, my burger was trash (dry, greasy, and no flavor) Service: Attentive and decent but the staff seemed overwhelmed Ambiance: they could do the building a favor and throw some paint on the walls or something to help the broken appearance and cleanliness was a 2 out of 10 pretty dirty looking place if I'm being honest Others at my table that ordered a Mexican dish enjoyed theres but seemed thrown off by the description of the dish and what they had received. The breakfast dishes that were ordered were not enjoyed either I encourage the staff and owners to take this review as constructive criticism and find ways to make the restaurant a better and more enjoyable place to eat at. Overall scenery: Their new location is way better overall inside and outside. This place is a seat yourself place and it shouldn't be. Im usually not one for the "Wait to be seated" restaurants but this one should be like that. This way you're presence is acknowledged sooner. I observed several people walk in and seat themselves and waiters didn't see them because they were in the kitchen area. The food takes a long time to arrive. I observed several other people experience the same. The breakfast was overpriced and there is nothing special to it. I have never been to this place, but this is the proof that all of Oklahoma is Southern. It's a Southern Thing in a video called Which States are Southern on YouTube lets us know that any town where you can go to the local diner and find grits on the menu is southern They found that Norman, OK is southern by calling a restaurant there. It is near OKC. Sol Family Restaurant is the last place to the northwest I found on a Google Maps search of OK for grits. We're we're passing through and decided to eat here since it had pretty good reviews. We were not impressed. We both had the ribeye. We asked for medium rare and got medium well and the steak was very thin. The salad was just iceberg lettuce with tomatoes and cheese and the ranch tasted like cheap store bought. This is where you go for excellent, authentic, home-style Mexican food. Order the Chilaquiles for brunch or the Flautas el Sól for lunch. The menu is extensive and you might be tempted to order the traditional diner-style food you often find in truck stops, but don't do it. Treat yourself to the chile relleno plate or a torta instead. Well, all of us walked away knowing we would not stop here again on this route that we travel several times a year. The 10 yo said the hamburger tasted like it had been microwaved after being grilled and only ate a few bites, but he did like the curly fries. The Reuben was.... interesting... I don't know what the meat was exactly, but it was not shredded corned beef that one would typically finds on this sandwich. It tasted like a hamburger with seasoning- and it was a patty, but not... as it came apart in ribbons or chunks. I'm not really sure how to describe it. It didn't have a bad flavor, it just wasn't a Reuben. And the Swiss cheese was the processed kind that comes wrapped in plastic. The other dish ordered was catfish. That had great potential, but unfortunately fell flat on taste. The portion was very large. Perhaps if you like smothering it in sauce it would be better. There menu is huge, and maybe that's the problem. To be able to offer all that it does, it probably all has to be frozen, boxed, or highly processed. As far the service goes, when at the table our waitress was very nice and helpful. When we walked in we were not greeted at all and didn't know if we were to seat ourselves or not. There were no signs so we were about to choose a table when they told us to sit anywhere. At the end of our meal we were again left wondering what to do as nothing was said about bringing a ticket to our table or paying at the counter. We eventually went up the counter. The only other thing that we didn't like was the employees, and for a portion of the time their friends, swearing often and loudly enough to be heard across the room. I wish we could give a better review as I know it's not easy for small businesses, but I also appreciate honest reviews from others so I need to do the same.
