This is a good sized location for large events that lacks only in parking availability. The main floor has a good stagehand a mezzanine level with seats. It has a sizable additional space, stage left, that would easily fit a reception all on it's own. The events there are fun, the bands are varied and I often find acts I want to see, and it's not as expensive as other venues of its size. It isn't fancy. It's more where I go for music performances and/or events. Been to several and am certain I'll attend more! read more

Had a great time seeing Highly Suspect and Slothrust. Both were amazing! The auditorium is reminiscent of a high school dance feel with alcohol. The small intimate venue is a great place to see a favorite band a good view from about anywhere and the acoustics are great. Staff was all good. read more

The new ownership did a much-needed remodel on the place (it was closed for a year) and it's great. no more horribly squeaky floors and The Worst Staircase in Nebraska (kind of like the BR in Trainspotting). can't wait to go back there and see another show. read more

College life would not be complete without Sokol. Oh the memories of nights spent with friends and concerts. Tickets are relatively cheap too. General admission so of course, everyone wants to be front and center in this small place. But I appreciate small venues like this because you feel like the band is playing just for you and you have better luck taking home a souvenir guitar pick or a drumstick...and in some cases, a band members' bottled water. Woohoo! Local bands, up and coming bands, bands that are semi-mainstream...they play here. I remember when I was so into Dashboard Confessional (Chris Carrabba woooooo!!!), Taking Back Sunday, Further Seems Forever, etc. I've seen Death Cab for Cutie, Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate and Mae perform here. I've been to many a concert here at the Sokol, from Limp Bizcuit and Static-X to Hed PE and Shinedown, I've seen them all. The main reason that I really like this place is the intimacy of the venue. No matter where you are when watching a live show, you are SO close to the band. It is awesome. I don't buy beer at shows so I can't speak for the price of quality of the refreshments, but every time I go a lot of people are in the refreshments line, but not sure if that is an indicator of anything. Overall, I will continue to go to the Sokol when there is a show that I want to see. read more

Sokol Auditorium is a dump not an auditorium. There is nowhere to park. There is no fixed seating. They do not have food. Their selection of drink is weak. $6.00 for a beer in a place like this is pricey. I've never been here before so perhaps I expected to much. I left after of the first song. Awesome iconic music venue in the heart of Little Bohemia of Omaha, NE on 13th street just as you're approaching downtown. Don't credit Athens, GA and Austin, TX with all of the musical history, talent, and venues - Omaha does and has done a hell of a job. I used to enjoy coming to Sokol Auditorium for events and concerts. Heck, in my younger years, I was here at least once a weekend, sometimes more! Unfortunately, as of lately, the quality of customer care/service has diminished. During my last visit, I watched a man, who said he was the owner, yell in the faces of two young females for their choice of purses - tiny backpacks. As of today, there is nothing on their website/facebook about not allowing them. The Shiznit! If you want a unique venue, you got it. Try it out. Everything from dubstep to popular folk, this place will surprise you. Make sure and get to the show on time because parking can be tricky in some shady neighborhoods but don't be discouraged. Uber is always running! We saw Cold War Kids and then Excision on different nights of course but they both were good in the small theatre-like setting. The base from Excision was insane! Now that I have moved to Chicago, I am totally missing Sokol Hall. I saw so many great shows in the Auditorium and Underground. And for SO cheap! $8-$25 bucks to see amazing bands and fairly decent prices on stiff drinks ? That kind of low-dough isn't happening now that I'm in the big city. I have seen the best bands here: Bright Eyes, The Faint, Cursive, Jenny Lewis (and Rilo Kiley, of course), Cold War Kids, Steven Malkmus and the Jicks, Death Cab for Cutie, Tilly and the Wall, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and so many more that I can't believe I saw in such a tiny venue for so cheap. In the Underground you can hang out on the couches and feel like you are in a church basement..also you have the perfect view into the men's room where you can count how many dudes walk out without washing their hands! I miss Omaha for the intimate shows. The Sokol was one of the best venues for a show. I've seen a lot of shows here-- but they also hold a lot of club events, etc. I know for events that they are pretty reasonably priced and that they're pretty much down for anything as long as you don't wreck the place (too badly.) One of the events that I went to at the Sokol was a cause of concern for the school I used to go to-- and now they have to beef up event security, add police details, etc. The parking for this place sucks, but most people just sneak across to the Burger King across the street before doors open and leave their car there. I've had SO many great memories here. It's the best place to see a show, despite it feeling like a high school gymnasium at times. (Maybe that's because people still use it as a gymnasium for gymnastics competitions?) There's always a chance to meet a lot of the artists, and get right up to the front for a show. I've had too many memories here that I know I'll never forget (even though one of them includes someone scratching my face at a show...) Drinks are meh. But really-- you're here for the show. read more

An Omaha landmark, Sokol Auditorium has hosted all kinds of events over the better part of a century. Rock shows, metal shows, hip-hop shows, EDM DJs, polka dances, gymnastics competitions, wedding receptions, counter-culture proms, etc., etc. It's an old building where you feel a sense of history when you and a few hundred other people are strolling about the hardwood floors at event XYZ. Going to a show at Sokol (including the attached underground venue) is a uniquely Omaha experience that's only complete when you park a few blocks away on a brick lined street, gaze up at the outdated marquee and head on inside with some good friends in tow. read more

So many good memories at Sokol. In my opinion, this is the ONLY place in Omaha to go to see a good show. They seem to attract a lot of the more indie bands, but you actually feel like you are a part of something, unlike a bigger venue like the Qwest. It's intimate and the acoustics are great. Great venue for the Atmosphere, Brother Ali, and dem atlas concert last night. Loved the concert and the drink stand by the women's bathroom was mighty convenient! They even had one craft beer option which was All Day IPA by founders at the stand. Hope to be back in the future! read more

Pretty interesting venue. Small enough so everyone in the crowd can see the band (unless you have tall people in front of you.) Definitely plan on going here for more shows and the upper balcony helps to view the band and be away from "mosh" pits. read more

Sokol isn't the place to catch big name shows, but that's what makes it undeniably awesome. I have seen many shows there, both in the auditorium and in the underground, and it's grungy feel has a sense of charm to it. The auditorium has an upstairs balcony level allowing everyone to see the band if they dont want to get extremely close and personal with other concert goers. Both levels have a bar, but don't really feel like bars so to speak. A few of the shows I've seen: Mayday Parade and The Cab, NeverShoutNever, He is We, Chase Coy and Plug In Stereo, and others! It's an extremely fun atmosphere and many types of bands come and perform, including the major local Saddle Creek names. read more

The wooden floor, mid-range stage, and side "gymnasium" area make it a fantastic venue, for sure. The bathrooms in the auditorium leave much to be desired, however. The lines can get long at a big show, and the urinals run all the way to inches from the sink. I was once at the urinal next to the sink, then realized someone (a woman, actually) was washing her/his face right next to my stream. Time to renovate and redesign the bathrooms, charming as they are! read more

Came to see spoon at Sokol . They never disappoint. I had seen Bayside close to 10 years ago here. We enjoyed the concert and venue was easy to get around parking is limited so we parked a couple blocks away. Sound level was good were ever you are in the building. Would recommend seeing a concert here. The seem to bring a good mix of artists and bands in. read more

okay really....I think it is a little bit of an exaggeration to say this is the only place to see a good show in Omaha....in fact, alot of ppl that play here are freakin horrible. Its pretty big and i like that theres an upstairs for people to go if they dont want to be slammed by the crazy ass moshers. Also works if your a smoker...you can usually smoke inside without getting caught...but sucks if your a nonsmoker cuz it gets REALLLLLLLLy smoky This place is okay, but Im glad theyre making better venues in Omaha now to make room for more sophisticated musicians. read more

I wished I still lived in Omaha just for Sokol alone. With some friends that played in a few of the local bands, and a fan of the hardcore/metal scene, I made sure I was a regular. Both the auditorium and underground level have a certain charm to them that I have yet to see any other venue even come close to recreating. The local music crossed with the fun setting is really something to experience. Occasionally you will find some bigger names performing upstairs (All That Remains, Trivium, Underoath), and you will see some great, slightly more obscure groups in The Underground (The Red Chord, Divine Heresy, The Human Abstract). Space can be pretty limited for the bigger shows, especially downstairs, and the bars are small so expect a wait to get some drinks but that is the price you pay for the intimate atmosphere. Tickets are always cheap, I don't remember ever paying more than $25, and normally it was closer to $10. One of my greatest memories was being able to get a couple autographs and share a quick beer with The Red Chord and Horse The Band after their sets. Without a doubt THE place to go in the Midwest for a good show. read more

Came here to watch a Magnum Pro wrestling show last night...Never been here before, know people who have that said good things about the venue...It's an older building, inside and out, but it's got character...And at least for the wrestling show, it was a great place...Tickets for the show were fairly inexpensive especially with the coupon...The people working the concessions and box office were friendly, and the restroom was surprisingly in decent condition, far better actually than some restaurants I've been to lately...I'd absolutely come back to see another event/concert read more

Anyway, one of the major concerts I've seen and a favorite of mine was Kottonmouth Kings and they played upstairs in the Auditorium of course. Sokol is a unique venue because it's a small venue that gets small and medium-sized talent to play there, which is cool. One weekend you can have a local showcase of up and coming bands, and the next night you'll have major label acts on the very same stage. There's no doubt the building and related facilities are old, but I can live with that in exchange for a fantastic small venue that can't be copied or pre-fabricated for mass consumption. read more

Best place in a several hundred mile radius to see an Indie Rock show -- hands down.

The most intimate venue I have ever been to. We stood up on the mezzanine and we were closer than front row! Swoon-worthy. We completely had room to dance. Beers were cheaper than any other concert I've been to in my life; only $5. OK - so the bad: Geez, it was hot, like heat exhaustion hot. Thankfully where we were, there was a vent which was a life saver. Also, not a lot of bathrooms. I would've risked missing half the show if I had waited to go to the restroom. All in all, absolutely amazing venue to really feel like you're with the band. Fun side note: Next door there's a vintage shop called "Lucky's Vintage". The owner, who was a wonderfully beautiful and eccentric woman, said if you go through around noon the day of the show, most of the bands stop in there to shop. She said that afternoon the members of Glass Animals hung out and bought some shirts. I'll definitely hit up more shows there. read more

This venue and business has been around forever and has been very good to the Omaha area. It has been one of the first small local music venues of Omaha and has brought in a variety of Musical acts as well as other forms of entertainment.What is fantastic about this place is that has a smaller stage for local music with great sound guys in the Underground, and in the Auditorium National Acts Like Tech N9ne and Five Finger Death Punch have shaken things up. read more
