Dr. Tessa Sokol took my appointment on the same day. She saw me promptly and provided excellent care.

I was referred to TLC Madison after moving here from Iowa City. I had been looking forward to lasik…read moresince my vision had remained stable over the past few years and my home eye doctor thought I would be a good candidate at 24 years old, -2.00/-2.25 and with a slight astigmatism. I set up a hour-long consultation and they confirmed that I would be a good candidate. I travel a lot for work, but they were able to book me for an appointment a couple weeks later that fit with my travel schedule perfectly. I was pretty nervous the day of, so they let me stay until the relaxation area about an hour longer until I was ready - looking back, I had nothing to be worried about. The procedure is strange (nothing like it!) and a bit uncomfortable, but I'm writing this 2 days afterward and I CAN SEE. A couple uncomfortable seconds were absolutely worth it. I am able to get around outside with sunglasses (eyes are still a bit sensitive) and I've mastered the eye drops (something I have never been good at before now) and although I do have a little bit of redness in my left eye (from popped blood vessels) that is normal and will clear up in 2-3 weeks. I would highly recommend Dr. Probst and Dr. Kurt for anyone in the Madison area that is interested in lasik - I was treated very well and they did a thorough job of explaining what was going to happen before, during, after my surgery and why. If you have any reservations about lasik, just ask - they were able to put my mind at ease and I'm sure they'll be able to help decide if it's the right choice for you too.

My night vision is absolutely horrendous. If I don't sleep enough, it's extremely painful all day. My vision will get blurry if I touch my eyes. I feel like I have dried up contacts in my eyes 24/7 I also have SO MANY floaters now. It's torture. Please don't risk , your eyes are so important

I switched here after several years of not feeling great about the eye doctor that I was going to…read more Overall I feel like their staff are friendly and the service is good. I don't buy my contacts there because they're almost double the price of what I can buy them for at Costco. They will give you a printed prescription if you ask. My insurance now covers the $35 for the imaging of the back of my eye but even before it was covered it was well worth the $35 to not have half a day where I cannot see because I had my pupils dilated. I'm taking off a star because of a couple issues. I brought my glasses in to have the prescription read last year and it was never entered into my chart I was then told I would need to make an appointment to bring them in for a second time to have them read. It's really inconvenient to have to take off time from work for a mistake they made as they're not open on Saturdays. The second issue being that the eye doctor seemed really annoyed with me that I haven't gotten the new glasses she wants me to get. I have had the same glasses for about 10 years and don't feel I am having issues with seeing out of them--in fact I still wear them instead of my contacts if I am doing up close work like embroidery. When I asked if the new prescription was much different than the glasses I already have they were unable to tell me since they read and then didn't enter the prescription. They asked if I brought my glasses with me--why would I when I brought them last year? They also seemed annoyed that I am not wearing readers when I use the computer which I explained was because they give me a headache. I was told to use a lower power, which would only be available somewhere online, and should hold the lens up to light to see if they look distorted--hard to do when buying online. I decided not to explain that I had tried a couple different strengths and found they all gave me a headache. Just didn't sit super well with me to feel like I'm trying to explain I'm seeing well and I'm being told I just need to buy the new glasses and I have to wear readers. My parents had a similar feeling about their eye visits with the same eye doctor. I'll give them another shot but after that I'll ask to see someone else.
