This review is for Tali. I have been wanting to book at Soignee BK for awhile now, so when I saw that there was an opening to get my hair done I was excited! After I had booked my appointment, I had contacted Tali with a concern about the appointment. Do you know that she had responded 11:30PM the day before my appointment... (Red flag #1). I understand that these new age stylist have 1000x rules (i.e., leave a deposit, come with your hair wash, come with your hair blow dryed, etc). It's bad enough that I have to practically do my own hair before my own appointment. The day of my appointment, I arrived at 08:30AM, my appointment was for 09:00AM. Guess what time Tali got there, 09:20AM...granted there was no text stating she would be running late...(Red flag #2). When she arrives, no sorry I was late...nothing. She asked if I was there for the sleek ponytail. I replied, "Yes" and was seated in her chair. After taking my natural hair out of the ponytail she proceeds to tell me that my ponytail won't come out "sleek" due to my hair texture (RED FLAG #3) and that I need to flat iron my hair...THIS WAS THE DEAL BREAKER for the following reasons:
(1) This is a natural hair salon
(2) It was not listed on the website that my hair texture would need to be flat iron.
(3) I'm not going to lie this made me feel ashamed of my hair texture. I also felt like if you work in a shop that deals with natural hair, you should know how to make it work. Also, the comment was (imo) uncalled for.
As she was doing my hair, she asked if I bought the hair. I said no. She proceeded to tell me that I have to go outside to get the hair. I asked where was the beauty supply store located and she told me two blocks away. I asked if she knew the location she said no. So here I am trying to google where the beauty supply store is so that I could get the hair I needed for the braids. As soon as I left the store, I made the wrong turn, and here comes Tali saying "Oh it's the other way..." Why didn't she tell me which way to go before I left her chair?
After she finished my hair she goes, "I did the best I could" (Red flag #4).... I do hope that any service that I pay for is giving me their best lol, that should go without saying.
I am truly disappointed by the lack of professionalism at this business.
If you're going to be late and have a policy about lateness on your business page then you should also hold yourself to that same policy. If doing natural hair isn't your thing then say that and maybe don't work at an establishment that serves people with natural hair. If you feel like you can't do a style then cancel it and give clients their money back BUT don't try to do the style and then tell your customer well hey...I did my best.... Professionalism goes a long way and you never know who is who...... read more
