It was my first time here, and I really enjoyed my experience. Once you walk in, they ask you to check-in. I wanted to get my eyebrows and under arm threaded. The lady sat me in her chair, and threaded away. It didn't take too long, and if I told you it didn't hurt i would be lying- but it wasn't bad. I think waxing is harsher on the skin than anything. Then onto the private room for my under arms. Because I'm Chinese, I don't have that much hair (lucky me) so she was able to thread them and not wax. Awesome! My friend recommended this place to me about 3 years ago and I've never gone anywhere since then. Keep in mind I've never had my eyebrows waxed so I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between that and threading. I'm not going to lie, eyebrow threading hurts. But pain is beauty and I always feel so fresh after having my brows done here! This place is small but it's nice and it's very fast. The most I've ever had to wait (even with the waiting seats all filled) was 10-15 minutes and the threading itself only takes 5 minutes or less. I'm not picky so I usually just select "next available" when they ask which employee you want to get your work done from, but everyone I've had does a great job. Sangita by far is THE BEST eyebrow threader in TOWN!!!... I have been going to her since 2006 and don't plan on stopping until she leaves (knocking on wood that she doesn't) . One girl was awfully rough, so I asked to have the other woman who was sitting down to finish. I was told no we were almost done.. I left with feeling she did her worst because of the amount of hair still left. The first time I went the girl who started on my face couldn't finish and had another woman finish. The time after that when I went in I asked for a woman with a little more experience and the girl at the front desk said, "Excuse me?!" Once I decided to give up on Just Stringz at Parks Mall, when my favorite eyebrow lady went M.I.A. and things went sort've south with new management, I tried out Styles of India and have been going here ever since. The atmosphere alone is more professional, you check in each time from their touch PC and the Indian music is both authentic and calming. I like to have my eyebrows cleaned up (threaded) about every two weeks. My go-to estheticians are Sumi and Gayatari. I've gone to Sumi the most though. I'm sure all of the ladies are good at hair removal. The staff is overall pleasant and the young working the front is cheerful. This is another convenient location for me, and I don't have to worry about mall traffic or parking - something about not having to go into the mall is just better for me. There are other SOI locations in North Arlington and Montgomery Plaza FW. Never been to the FW shop but South Arlington is my fave. They're open on weekends too! read more

Quick check in at the computer in front. I never make appointments usually just walk in for my eyebrow and lip threading. I never wait longer than 5 minutes which is nice even if it looks busy. It hurts but you get used to it the more times you thread. It's almost a relaxing pain though. They will give you some aloe right after to soothe it. I visited this location, very hesitant to trust another person to thread my face. I left my last experience (at another salon) literally in tears because my sensitive skin was filled with cuts and red rashes. My stylist's name at Styles of India was Mina and I got a full face threading service with her. To say she did incredible was an understatement. The process took about 15 minutes, the least amount of discomfort I've ever experienced and I didn't have a single cut. Usually I tweeze my own eyebrows because it's cheaper since they grow back every week...but every now and then I like to get them shaped and cleaned up. I use to go to mall kiosk, but when I found this place I was excited because it's much more peaceful and private instead of everyone at the mall watching you. There is another Styles of India in Ft. Worth where I live, but when I'm in town I go here instead since they offer the student discount. I always leave pleased and the pain depends on the person...its pretty irritating and uncomforable BUT I love my results always, nicely shaped and even. I HATE waxing, it's painless, but doesn't work for my eyebrows. They end up having to spend 5-10 minutes tweezing the hair the wax didn't get. I think all women should try at least once :) read more

Threading lasts so much longer than waxing, but I was never really comfortable getting my eyebrows done in the middle of the mall. Styles of India is always very quick to get in and out of, professional, and reasonably priced. I've been about a dozen times and they always do a good job. Plus, I don't have to sit in the middle of a mall! You can also make an appointment online if you are really in a big hurry, but I've never had to wait over a few minutes. read more

I'm a threading newbie I guess you can say and OMG, i'm absolutely impressed and hooked. I have always had problems with my eyebrows, they're naturally thick and they grow in all sorts of directions.. My left eyebrow is more squared shaped and the right is more round.. Can you get the idea of my frustration when I go get them waxed and the ladies are just as confused on how to handle them as much as I am? When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and a touch screen computer on the left of her (Thank god I read the yelp reviews before I came or else I would have looked like a moron). I signed in and sat in the waiting area. Which consist of two long lounge couches that faced each other and a table with 2 magazines. I literally sat down and was called to sit in the first station. The first station would be the closest chair station to the front entrance and it goes down from there. I believe there are 4 chairs total. My thread person, Rima, was a very sweet looking girl who didn't really converse other then answering, which i'm completely fine with because i'm just as awkward. In my opinion, it doesn't hurt at all, there may be a few pinches here and there but its nothing that is too unbearable. You can definitely hear the threading and the fast paced work. I was in there probably no more than 5 mins. You do gotta help them though, I was asked to pull the top of the skin above my eyebrow with one hand and my eyelids down with the other with both brows. Before I even realized what was going on I was done! She showed me my eyebrows and I could hear my eyebrows weeping with joy. She offered aloe to put on after and I was ready to pay. The payment window is NOT the same window where you first checked in, its to the side of it. $10 is the total but if you're a student its $7. When I first came in it was just one other lady that was getting worked on but by the time I got up to pay i noticed there was about 7 girls waiting to be done, SOI is quite popular and i can see why. The girls here do an exceptional job. My eyebrows always come out looking amazing. The interior is nicely decorated. They have jewelry and some clothing for sale. Check in is done at a computer at the front desk and I'm always greeted with a smile when I walk in. The actual threading process is no longer than ten minutes and the pain is minimal (if you're use to it). After, I always get aloe vera gel applied to my brows to sooth the pain. This is really one of the only threading places that you can walk in to and most of the staff will deliver the same phenomenal results. I should add that I am extremely picky about my eyebrows. Waxing does not deliver the same precise results as threading. They are always pretty speedy but this does not affect the quality of the service in any way. Got my whole face done for $30. For me, it is totally worth it because my chin hair destroys my self confidence and I feel like I can never really let myself go without worrying about my chin hairs flashing somebody. They threaded my eyebrows, chin, mustache, sideburns... the whole shebam in about 15ish minutes. It was great, and honestly it didn't really hurt. (But I used to thread my own face so I might be used to the pain). It is way better than time consuming plucking or painful waxing that stretches the skin. Me, my cousin, and sister went to get our henna done for eid. We were excited until they fucked up our hands. They did it so bad. They are so rude. I had hair on my arms and one lady said you need to get a wax too. They had a crusty iPod that played the music. The sign for the bathroom was trashy af. It smelled like the cheese from Cheetos mixed with ramen noodles. We each got a design on both hands. And we were not happy with the results. They charged us $110 for this piece of shit henna. I really consider suing because I'm sure that they did this on purpose. They made countless mistakes on each one of our hands. Eid is 3 days away what am supposed to tell people when they ask why it's ugly? I will never go back and I will not tell anyone to come here. (My aunt came here for her eyebrows and she said she hated how they did them). The people are not professional or respectful. DO NOT GO HERE! They will mess up everything. It was my first time. I had a horrible experience. I had taken appointment . They screwed up my eyebrows first. Then facial was just an eyewash. No steaming after cleaning. The massage in the face was not at all professional. I don't find any difference in my face after the facial as I use to when I did from India. They said it is herbal faciial. Waxing was ok..but overall I will not suggest anyone to go here and risk their money and face in such type of unprofessional Salon.
