After examining my feet the woman steered me toward a pair of Akaisha shoes. I had never worn this brand so I kept looking at other shoes that had just come in. She assured me that for my feet these would be perfect. They were 40% off - I had not come in expecting any sale & she was convincing so I bought them. These shoes are the best I have worn in my entire life! I went on a trip to Paris 2 weeks later & wore them 12 hours a day sightseeing. My husband got blisters - my feet felt great at the end of the day. I was impressed because she could have easily sold me a much more expensive pair of shoes that I loved for the style. But she didn't - I love these shoes so much that when I could not get a 2nd pair I ordered an identical pair from the US with the help of the Akaisha US Rep.

They have assisted me in having my older Finn Comfort shoes and boots repaired. I have spent huge amounts of money on custom orthotic insoles with special brand orthotic shoes and the benefit has been marginal. Most of these so-called "orthotic" shoes cannot be repaired or rebuilt. Properly manufactured leather shoes with firm insoles yield nearly instant relief from ankle and arch pain--pain typically caused by flat feet (excessive pronating) and obesity. Pronating may be alleviated by light boots with ankle support--the benefit of the German brands is the all leather construction that conforms to your foot over time. In the end it is the responsibility of the buyer to communicate what they want and how a product feels.

I find Aldo has a good selection of shoes, but just not for me. I am not into 4 inch heels and although they have some pretty shoes, I'd rather not set out to kill myself just because the shoes are stunningly beautiful! The prices are usually a bit higher at Aldo compared to other shoe stores. The staff are 'ok' - nothing to give them kudo's about. Overall, I will continue to shop Aldo. Good selection, fairly pricey but a good, quality shoe.

The staff at this location were really friendly and worked hard to search out a pair of heels in my size (no easy task) in a couple different styles. They were also honest about how they looked, which was refreshing. Sometimes, no matter how much you like a pair of shoes, it's important to hear somebody say, "I'm not sure if those are going to work." After I picked out my shoes, I had a look around the store and found a lot of really nice accessories for men and women. I personally thought the men's accessories were a little nicer overall, but that's just me. I left Aldo with a great pair of shoes and a real interest in shopping there again. If you're looking for a stylish shoe at a decent price I think Aldo is definitely an option worth checking out.

Most of the boots seemed to have a lot of the crocodile skin look in flashy colours. And other than boots, it was mostly strappy, open-toed heals, some of which still had the croc skin look. Not that I have anything against that look, some people can really pull it off. But it's not for me. The shoe pricing was still pretty expensive, even though there was a %50 off sale. I couldn't imagine seeing the actually cost of those shoes. I'm probably just jealous that I can't afford them though. I guess a lot of people can because the store was pretty full of women. In fact, there wasn't an open seat to try anything on because there were so many people in there. There was one really nice salesguy that I encountered. I was looking at some flats and he came over and told me that most of them had a built-in gel cushions or insoles. He took a moment to show me what he meant, then smiled and walked to someone else. I loved that he didn't stick around by my side and shop with me, much like some other salespeople might. It was just a nice experience that I thought I'd share with you.

I can't buy at outlets unfortunately - I really have to take care of my feet. I've gone to this shop for orthotics, to discuss shoes and sneakers, to shop for others and to partake in the customer day (where they had a New Balance rep in and they had a BBQ outside and draws). I have been to other similar shoe shops and have had great service and/or buys or experiences but Soles in Motion stands out to me. So if you need a team of experts to care for your feet from orthotics to advice to friendliness and attentiveness to social days, I would give you three options and tell you the benefits of each (or if you need to shop for best price), but I would send you here first. I would also mention to ask for: Scott, Tamara and Sandra. Those are just the names I know but I have talked to others who were also friendly and helpful.

I visited Soles in Motion in May, as directed by a staff member on a telephone call a few days…read moreprior, to resolve an issue of substandard footwear (sandals), purchased in June 2025 as a Christmas gift to myself. The soles split partly on one and totally across the diameter on the other after minimal use - walking around my residence in early spring to break them in for the summer. They had been unused to this point and stored in a closet. While waiting in line behind other customers, we began discussing why we were each bringing back items. The manager arrived and walked behind me barking "come here". I asked if she was speaking to me and she nodded yes. I asked if she could speak in a more courteous manner then the conversation declined due to her stressed, annoyed, waste of her time manner. After stating the circumstances above, she declined to consider any resolution or upgrade, stating "we don't carry that brand anymore" and they were worn, which I had just explained, as above. It should be noted that the manager also refused to identify herself other than as "the manager" when asked her name, but the company website identifies her as Niki Storms, Operations Manager. Immediately, she yelled "get out of my store" repeatedly, in an aggressive, loud tone, just inches from me, invading my personal space, walking me through the store, the double set of exterior doors and to the sidewalk. She continued screaming on the sidewalk outside not to talk to shoppers present outside. I asked her to call the police as she has no legal authority to continue screaming at and verbally harassing me outside. I had continued to attempt a conversation, as security cameras can verify, throughout this entire abusive process, but the manager was out of control. As a 75-year-old disabled senior with invisible injuries that leave me unable to quickly process information or walk quickly, I found this behavior unprofessional and totally lacking customer courtesy. I was publicly disgraced, embarrassed and verbally abused in front of customers both inside the store, in addition to outside the premises, while standing on the sidewalk, where prospective customers had to walk around her to get into the store while she yelled. A customer who left the store after this incident approached to tell me she didn't buy anything after seeing the manager's behaviour. I contacted the owners, Jen Estabrooks and Dr. Mark Fletcher ( https://www.ratemds.com/doctor-ratings/97394/Dr-Mark+Andrew-Fletcher-Dartmouth-NS.html/ ), about their manager's outrageous behaviour, but neither addressed their Operations Manager's actions. I once would have easily reviewed this company highly, as many others do, however; the only satisfaction this disabled senior will get is accountability for an abusive manager. The company and owners are responsible for her actions as well. In the meantime, I will take steps to expose what is considered acceptable behaviour by this company's owners and manager. My advice to health care workers who purchase products at Soles in Motion, remember, you give your career and sacrifice to help seniors, especially disabled seniors. Read my story and possibly consider choosing to purchase footwear and other products elsewhere.

I am a shoe shopper and nothing puts a bigger smile on my face more than a comfy, sexy pair of heals, or a cozy pair of slippers, or a casual pair of flats or even a pair of Nike runners for when I need to get out for a stroll. The Shoe Company has great selections at a reasonable price. I can usually get a pair of good quality shoes for under $50.00. I sometimes find it hard to get my size. Most times, they have a lot of size 7 and 8's left but when it comes down to finding a pair of size 9's, it's scarce. The staff is quite helpful though and are quick to offer assistance with calling another store. I am a fan of The Shoe Company and will continue to shop especially in the Dartmouth Crossing.
