its good. the mall is giant and there are a lot of stores. the only thing that I'm not surprised by was the food court. considering the mall, the food court was kinda tiny. there is about 6 stores at the food court. The Mic Mac Mall offers over 160 shops and eateries on the eastern side of the HRM. Mic Mac is convenient to majour highways and offers shopping at big stores like The Bay, Zeller's, Shoppers Drug Mart, Toys R Us, and Winners/Home Sense. Mic Mac has a food court and plenty of specialty food places including Jugo Juice, Perks Coffee, Orange Julius, A&W, Starbucks, and Tim Horton's (yummo!). We did some shopping here recently to check out some stores such as HMV, Old Navy, Eddie Bauer, Sony Style, and The Source At Circuit City. MicMac is a good size mall, but it was very crowded inside on a Saturday morning and we had to park way out in East Bumf--k. Anyways, we spent a good 90 minutes shopping here. I picked up a few things on sale at Old Navy and Winners and had a good cup of coffee at Perks. Next stop for us was, Downtown Halifax for an afternoon of chill time. read more

Mic Mac Mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Oh, the days of my youth come flooding into view as clear crystal when I step into this Dartmouth shopping conglomerate. I spent most of my junior high weekends eating Pretzel Maker and Laura Secord, walking the halls, looking at clothes and searching for cuties. Then, I was a mall employee for my high school days, working the Le Chateau floor, selling clothes and dancing to the club beats. The memories may be distant, but this mall still holds a spot as my favorite in the HRM. Not only is it bright and airy, it's well laid out and has managed to keep with the times, doing major renovations and incorporating the shifting trends with ease. There's an H&M, Winner's, as well as a bunch of new shops that I'd never even heard of until my recent trip in. The fountain has been removed and a Starbucks is setting up shop on the lower level. As well, the mall has couches in some of the alcoves for patrons to stop, sit and take a break from the shopping madness. Tragically, Sparkles has closed up shop. I found this out when Andrew and I ventured in with pockets full of quarters and gaming in our hearts. H&M now resides where this corner arcade once dwelled. At this fun center a decade and a half ago, I realized I could be a problem gambler after spending ten dollars on the teddy-bear crane game. I left with no prize and an empty pocket... how sobering indeed. The Bay is pretty jamming, with a tiny MAC shop on the lowest level, as well as a mega perfume district. Take it from me, don't get overzealous and squirt on multiple scents; it can only end in headaches. Mic Mac Mall is the bee's knees in chain-store shopping. I advocate a visit, paired with a stop at the upstairs photo-booth. It may be expensive, but at least you'll always remember your mall visit. Ah bliss... read more

I often fall in and out of love with Mic Mac Mall. I'm not sure why really. There are more than enough shops for everyone's budget and something for everyone. There are some high end stores and some low end stores. Not to forget all the regular staples that are becoming apart of basic malls, a department store, the drug store, a makeup store (TIP: MAC counter inside the Bay), clothing stores for men and women, jewellery stores, shoe stores, lingerie, cards, toys, you name it. This is also one of only two malls in the HRM that has a Starbucks in it! (Not sure if I'd even count Scotia square as a mall anymore, but hey.) This is definitely a mall that most out of towners and tourists stop by, I know from experience as most my family isn't from the HRM. So make sure you bring your out of town friends and family in for a visit! read more

Mic Mac Mall - Entrance across from the Metro Transit depot. - Shopping Centers Near Me - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Mic Mac Mall is one of the best shopping centres around and is conveniently located a minute across the MacDonald bridge, (on the Dartmouth side). There are 3 levels, housing over 100 shops, kiosks and services, including a 3rd level food court with a variety of healthy and popular fast food options. During Holiday season and sales I tend to steer clear of this mall as it tends to get over run (I guess that's what happens when you are one of the only large shopping complexes in the area). The parking lot here is massive which means you will always find a parking spot but it could be a fair hike away from the entrances. As far as the stores go, there are all fairly cheap (with the exception of H&M, Jacob, The Gap and some of the higher end shoe stores) and the clothing sold here is pretty mainstream. It's a great place to go shopping for back to school if you have a lot of kids because there is something for everyone (even the person on a budget!). read more

I used to enjoy Halifax Shopping Center. There is now less there I am interested in, so I began to go to Mic Mac Mall. I really like it there, lots of stores to shop at, a great food court and pretty easy to get to for someone who doesn't have a car. One bus from Scotia Square get you there! The mall is well maintained, the security staff are professional and helpful. I lost my iPhone there once and they helped me find it! As my old stomping ground, Halifax Shopping Centre, focuses more on pushing out mid-range stores and replacing them with higher-end, holy-what-ugly-clothes stores, I find myself gravitating more to Mic Mac. It's out of my way, but it's where I finished my Christmas shopping this year. It also helps that this mall is so much larger, so they have room to cater to all tastes. Three glorious levels of shopping (I know that sounds like hell to some people, but not to me)! It's virtually impossible to not find everything on your list here. My only complaint is the lack of bookstore. I know, Chapters is in the immediate vicinity, but as someone who prefers parking once and staying indoors (curse all these strip malls), I would much prefer it be attached to the mall proper. Even when the parking lot is PACKED and you end up five miles from the nearest entrance, once inside MMM is spacious, well laid out and an overall pleasant experience. Plus I love The Bay - they can't be beat for selection of women's clothing. read more

The Titanic of Malls in Halifax & Dartmouth! The Mic Mac Mall is the largest mall in Halifax. So it naturally has the most amount of stores on all four or five or six levels of this ridiculously large Mall. Pretty much every store you could think of is here. And they have Kiosk's on almost every level as well. My favorite part of the Mic Mac Mall is that I am a proud uncle and they made sure there were options for Uncles who want to spoil their Niece's. So to answer the next obvious question, yes there is a Disney Store and a Toys R' Us. And thanks to the Disney Store, my Niece was "Tinkerbell," for her first Halloween! Sure she probably had no idea what was going on because she was one year old. But I was still proud of myself. Of course a mall can't have everything. And there didn't seem to be enough room for a big Chapters store. For the Americans reading this review, Chapters is the Canadian equivalent to Barnes and Noble. But not to worry. They built a Chapters outside in the parking lot right beside a Future Shop! And once again, to my American friends...Future shop is like Best Buy. Sometimes a bit more pricey though. Check out my Future Shop review to find out more. Back to the Mall! The food court is not as good as other malls and I wish they would expand on that section. But besides the food court, everything else is fantastic! I can buy expensive and inexpensive clothes, stuff a teddy bear for my Niece, have some Starbucks or Perks coffee, buy beds, buy video games...the list goes on. The staff in most of the department stores are very pleasant and of course the Halifax Metro Transit is right outside the Mall ready to take you back into Halifax or anywhere else you'd like to go within the city. Comparatively to other Mall's around Canada and the United States, the Mic Mac Mall is pretty standard. They are the largest in Nova Scotia and Halifax which is the reason they get a fifth star. But they also have improved their stores and added new ones along with some new restaurants in the mall. So they know that even though they are the biggest, they have to keep changing in order to stay at the top. read more

What is it with fashion these days?! Honestly, I might as well walk around in my bra and panties for all the good today's "Fashion" is gonna do to cover up my extremities. I can't find nice clothes anymore or anything I like. I use to come to the mall all the time and now I avoid it. This is the strangest mall ever. First of all. There are several stores that have moved from one end to another and back again.. closed then have reopened somewhere else in the store. Don't believe me? Dynamite, Garage, American Eagle, Bluenotes, Ardene's, Costa Blanca, Eddie Bauer and West 49 have all switched locations and no doubt will do it in the future. And you know what else gets me? WHAT IS WITH ALL THESE TELEPHONE COMPANIES? If you need a cell phone plan then Mic Mac's got your back. Bell, Telus, Koodo, Eastlink, Rogers, Virgin, Fido and at least THREE STANDS THAT OFFER DEALS WITH EACH ONE OF THOSE are at your disposal in this mall. Seriously. Koodo is right across from Rogers and RIGHT beside them is a store that has pricing for both of those companies. I have no idea who "ok"ed this idea but clearly they didn't think to sell the space to another type of retailer. Lastly, this mall really has no identity. For some unknown reason there's a BCBG in Mic Mac that's surrounded by generally lower costs clothes. So if you're feeling bummed that you can't afford an $800 dress... well you can drag your feet to Old Navy and mope there. Some high-end jewellery and an ardene's just one floor down. Why spend $2000 on a ring when you can get a 100 for $10 piece?? O AND.. There is absolutely no sitting area other than the food court. Sure some of those gawd awful metal "chairs" for you to re-gain your breath but nothing with nice big chairs. read more

Eek. As you might know, I'm not a mall person, at all. At all. So when faced with the idea of three levels of mallish goodness, peppered with kiosks and anchored by two indifferent stores, I tend to panic and find any reason not to visit. Thankfully, my daughter is an Urban Planet fan, of which there is not yet one in Halifax (unfortunately for her). So our mall excursions are few and far between, which makes me happy(er). You know, it's the mall. And the mall is, in many ways, great. As someone who doesn't own a car, the advantage of a mall is it's one-stop shopping. You get in and can do as many stores as you want. You almost never have to go outside (except for Old Navy, oddly) until you leave. While I appreciate the variety that places like Dartmouth Crossing provide, without a car, you're sunk. No mall is perfect and Mic Mac has its flaws. However, overall? It's pretty darn good! There are stores to suit most needs (especially if you're looking for clothing). The layout can lead to some confusion, even after years of going there but that is, I guess, on me more than the mall. The food court? Meh. Really. Just meh. Not very large. Very crowded. Not much variety. Mic Mac needs to step up their game there. read more

I enjoy going to the Mic Mac Mall once in a while but I'm not a big fan. I find it isn't as welcoming as the shopping center on Mumford rd. But that could be because three floors can be a little overwhelming. The East Side Mario's in the mall has decent food and doesn't look at you weird if you're dining solo. To me Mic Mac Mall is a great place to shop. Coming from Cape Breton It's a huge improvement over the Mayflower Mall. It has my gaming needs with EB Games, my coffee and tea love with Starbucks and David's TEA, as well as Zellers and numerous clothing stores. Mic Mac Mall... I admit, I am an ignorant traveler of the world. Once I walk in, i was amazed at the stores I found inside... Anywhere form a drug store, to Blacks Cameras, and even American Eagle... Why I thought I'd be walking into a mall with 7 stores in it with one being a Sears, I was highly impressed. Even down to (or up to in literal terms) the food court's variations of choice. Instead of writing about a particular food court destination for today's Yelpspiration review, I'm just going to go ahead and say that Mic Mac Mall has a much better food court than the Halifax Shopping Centre. And you know what? Almost everything else about this mall is better, too. Sure, sure, HSC has Sephora and will soon have Apple. But Mic Mac is my jam. Chapters, Winners HomeSense, H&M, these are my places. The Toys 'R Us fits my board game loving needs, and all the stores required to throw together a new outfit for not too much money are present as well. My one gripe? The layout. Halifax Shopping Centre is a loop, and therefore one cannot get lost. I never, ever know where I am when I'm at Mic Mac Mall, and end up staring at the map looking for "Your are here" as though I'm some poor, frumpy tourist just waiting to be mugged by a local mall rat. read more

Despite hating the parking lot around this mall, it's my favourite mall to shop at. I'm a pretty infrequent mall visitor in general, but when I need to hit the mall, Mic Mac has a few favourites that I can't live without, like LUSH, H&M and Homesense. Since I was a kid, I've loved the big escalators in the middle with the food court at the top. There's a Starbucks, which I think is an important addition. And, the Christmas decor is pretty great. I don't always visit malls, but when I do, I prefer Mic Mac. And I swear that's not just my Dartmouth allegiance talking... Sure - Halifax Shopping Centre keeps landing new retailers like the Apple Store, Victoria Secret, and all the make-up shops that get the ladies foaming at the mouth with excitement, but I just don't find there's a whole lot there worth getting excited about. Plus the weird layout means I'm always lost in that space between the Dollar Store and the Bowling Alley. No thanks. But dear, sweet Mic Mac...it's set up in a proper figure-eight that means you know exactly how to walk in order to see all the stores, and there are exits everywhere (in large part thanks to The Bay, more an exit strategy than a store now) so you can get in and out without much trouble. The favourites: H&M, Homesense, HMV, and Villa Madina. read more

Ah, Mic Mac. This was my mall growing up in many ways. It was closer to home, and I worked there in my late teens for about five years. It's changed a lot since then, and while I don't shop there as often now, it's still an all right place to kill an hour or two. I've also given them at least one extra star for the food court. It's pretty much perfect. I feel like this is a mall is changing to cater to the under 23-set and their moms. A lot of the stores in here cater to those two age groups, with a few scraps for everyone else scattered throughout. A number of new stores here have been opened in the last few months and they're all for the younger crowd: Spencers, Forever 21, Journeys, etc. Not that I don't enjoy wandering through these places, and I may drop them a few coins here and there, it would just be nice to see something a bit more high-class, upper end, you know? I suppose I'll have to keep going to HaliS for that. And yes, I'm going to make HaliS happen. Watch me. read more

If I were to pick between Mic Mac Mall and the Halifax Shopping Centre, I would choose Mic Mac. Why? I have not a clue. Mic Mac has some of my fave stores which include Bath and Body Works.. Well, that's usually my reason for heading to the ... dun, dun, dun, darkside. But, I always find reason to look around. Unlike what the Halifax Shopping Centre is becoming, Mic Mac has stores to please almost anyone. They have the basics; Boathouse, West 49, The Bay, Starbucks, but they also have some unique shops like Pandora and Build-a-Bear The food court is pretty good as well. So, that's that. Orange Julius is pretty much a for sure stop while we are shopping. It seems everyone else has the same idea, although it can get costly, a large for $5.00 people love it. The only bummer we had this day was they ran out of bananas. Who would imaging! So we could not get our favorite kind. But it was still good. read more

I truly enjoy Mic Mac Mall, and not just because I'm a native Dartmouthian, but because of it's mammoth size and great variety. It's the only 3-floor mall in Nova Scotia that I'm aware of. It hosts many of the great stores that can't be found in other nearby malls including Old Navy, Levi's, Urban Behavior, Jacob and H&M. On the lower level, you'll find some of the newest and trendiest shops (Costa Blanca and Urban Behavior) as well as East Side Mario's, a bank, and Shoppers Drug Mart. On the middle level you'll find the two bath shops (The Body Shop and Fruits & Passion), Danier Leather, and the two major shoe stores (Aldo and Spring/Transit). On the top level where you'll find some of the malls more prestige shops including Gap, Le Chateau and H&M, as well as the Mall Food Court. read more

I absolutely love Orange Julius! It is so refreshing and it hits the spot for me everytime! I usually order the Orangeberry Sunrise with added banana. It is a combination of orange juice, orange shurbert, stawberries, a banana and ice. My second favourite drink is the Raspberry Julius which is Raspberries, orange juice and ice. I find it can be a bit expensive. Usually for a cup full it costs me the best part of $6.00. It is a bit cheaper if you just go for the regular Julius, rather than the smoothie like the Orangeberry Sunrise. Be cautious if you are lactose tolerant because a lot of the smoothies contain milk, cream or yogurt. The only one's that do not are the regular Julius drinks. Whichever you choose, add a banana for $.79. It adds a little bit of extra jummy in your drink! read more

You know what? I'm not a mall fan, and I live in downtown Halifax, but if I had to go to a mall it would be this one. Compared to the Halifax Shopping Centre, It has more stores I like to shop at. It's hard to say I enjoy shopping at the mall since it is so close to Christmas. Plus it's a mall, the moment I walk into one I instantly forget what I'm there for and want to leave. This mall has one of my all time favourite stores attached to it, a Winners/HomeSense. Plus, it has a liquor store, which is a store I usually need to hit up after spending time in a mall. I'm a very petite size and hard on my clothes/items, and can't believe the excellent quality and size options in Eddie Bauer. It's WAY cheaper than MEC if you use the discounts! Being military I get a discount as well 100% of the time - not like Sport Chek where they've now discontinued their discount for military except the 1 or 2 days a year. So, I've bought boots, jackets, shirts (XS) and almost all my clothes are from this store. The quality is superior, and I've very picky when it comes to quality. I wouldn't buy anything full price, though .. just way too $$ at full price. read more

This mall is a bit higher end than Halifax Shopping Center. But they do have a nice mix of stores for everyone. And lots of entrances and easy parking! Which is what HSC lacks. They also have plenty of escalators. HSC has been under construction for years. And no sign of ending soon. So aggravating. If you are visiting and would like to go shopping at a mall, I'd pick this one. Close to Dartmouth Crossing shops as well. read more

I should notify some teenagers that if U go shopping alone during a slow business time. Watch U back and never response to strangers(not a mall staff)' talk. Some creepy old men,probably in his 60s and 70s, always hang in the mall and bus stop and accost/follow the female especially the one who walking alone. If U do not talk to them and show Ur tough side, they leave u asap. But some young females are shy or do not want to be rude, they always prefer this kind of female. These person have nothing to do, just kill the rest time of their life with pension and governmental aids, food court is always their spot as they r physically and psychologically sick! I have been told by a teenager girl, she was followed by an old man by food court on 3 floor. She was eating her meal, and this man STARED`AT her and tried to ask her name, home address and school. After she finished the meal and left for shopping, that older man followed her everywhere, always keep 1,2 meters. She realized she was followed by this old guy bcz when she stopped and made a turn, he made a turn. She entered a store for 30 minutes and when she came out, that guy was still there. Even she went to the washroom, this creepy waited outside! The creepy even became cocky and waved his hand to the girl when he found this girl knew he was a follower, She had no idea and jumped into Bus 10, and that creepy man followed her get in the bus and still kept talking to her until she run out of the bus at Bridge Terminal. She said she did not call the police as someone told her the police won't document the issue if nothing harmful happened. For this point, please ask for help from Ur family, community and school. I do not think that police won't take this following issue as nothing!!!!!! One day I had a date with my girl friends. When I sit in the food court, an older guy with creepy smile came to me and asked " may I sit here"? It was not traffic time as so many free seats. Without my response, he started asking my nationality and said "I would like to have a teenage girlfriend"_____WTF !!! My face hardened and gave no answer. He muttered a few words and walked off. Then I saw the creepy try to accost a girl who looks in the early teen. I pointed at that guy and told my friends what just happened. He realized someone put eyes on his back and walked away like a worm. STAY SAFE AND LEARN HOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF! read more

Being to both of Halifax's major malls, Halifax Shopping Centre and Mic Mac, I must say that overall I find Mic Mac to be a much better mall overall. Mic Mac does lack some of the stores that HSC has however. HSC has The Apple Store, Holister (Overpriced in my opinion), Sportchek, Walmart as well as Sears, while Mic Mac lacks both of those stores. However, Mic Mac does have some pretty good stores such as Eddie Bauer, Forever 21, H&M, Old Navy, Target, and The Bay that HSC does not have. Past those stores, the selection is pretty much the same. Overall I find the layout and location of Mic Mac a lot more convienent than HSC. Mic Mac and Halifax Shopping Centre both have around the same number of stores, but since there are a good number of HSC's stores in an Annex totally separate from the mall, it makes Mic Mac Mall technically bigger. Overall my personal favourite between the two is Mic Mac though. Better layout, better location and better stores. All they need to do now is build a Sportchek inside Mic Mac and then Mic Mac will be perfect! read more
