OMG now I know how Carrie Bradshaw feels in Sex in the City. Shoes, shoes and more shoes. And the…read moredangerous part is that there is a 50% off sale, shhh please don't tell anyone until I get back down. I went two years ago and walked out with three pairs yikes. But yes I do love them and I still keep them in the box after I wear them. Now it is true what they say is that you get what you paid for and when these sales like this happens you can actually afford these shoes and they will last. My black patten wedges which is now going on their third summer look like new. John David shoes has been around for sometime and specializes in high quality high fashions shoes. From flats to those stilettos that will make any ones head turn to Gladiators. Funny I was with my BFF yesterday and we were looking through the window like I kid at Disneyland would saying I want those and those. We are going back today look out.

So, I know realize that most of the shoes in here are supposed to be designer and therefore…read moredesirable, but I didn't see anything that really stuck my fancy... and I'm quite a shoe fanatic. Most of the boots seemed to have a lot of the crocodile skin look in flashy colours. And other than boots, it was mostly strappy, open-toed heals, some of which still had the croc skin look. Not that I have anything against that look, some people can really pull it off. But it's not for me. The shoe pricing was still pretty expensive, even though there was a %50 off sale. I couldn't imagine seeing the actually cost of those shoes. I'm probably just jealous that I can't afford them though. I guess a lot of people can because the store was pretty full of women. In fact, there wasn't an open seat to try anything on because there were so many people in there. There was one really nice salesguy that I encountered. I was looking at some flats and he came over and told me that most of them had a built-in gel cushions or insoles. He took a moment to show me what he meant, then smiled and walked to someone else. I loved that he didn't stick around by my side and shop with me, much like some other salespeople might. It was just a nice experience that I thought I'd share with you.

At the end of March I noticed one of my Ugg boots had ripped along the back seam. I bought them…read moreabout 3 years ago and no longer had the receipt. Sad day! I called The Shoe Company/Town Shoes to ask if they did repairs. The girl I spoke with asked me to bring in the boot and the manager could have a look. When I brought it in, the manager "T" told me he could tell the boots were well taken care of and while he couldn't have it repaired, he could call head office to see if it could be replaced. I was totally wowed! He promised to call me back in a couple days with the verdict. A few weeks passed with no return phone call :-( I finally called back and "T" told me the boot could not be replaced but asked me to drop back in and he'd give me a $150 credit which I thought was more than fair and drove there immediately. When I asked for him in the store, he asked me for the other boot. When I questioned him (as I had no reason to bring it with me when I was simply picking up my credit), he told me he had to send the boots back in order to give me the credit. "What?? I give my boots away and get $150 back? The boots cost double that and look brand new!" He told me he'd give head office another call to see if anything else could be done. Again, weeks went by. I called the store back and was connected with a second store manager, also named "T". This "T" was shocked at how long the boot saga was taking and promised to look into it and committed to calling me back in a day or two. Do you think she called me back? Nope! More weeks went by and again I was forced to call them back. "T" told me she was going to call the company they deal with which does shoe repairs to see if it could simply be fixed and, you got it, would call me back in a couple days. After all these months, finally! I was getting what I wanted done in the first place! Well, guess what? Weeks passed and sadly, "T" did not call back as promised :-( Finally, I call them back and I'll admit it, I was a little pissy when I was patched through to manager #3: Danny (yes, I spelled out his name -- you'll see why in a minute). He put up with my rude tone and promised to find out what was going on with The Boot and promised to call me back in a day or two. He called back! Yay! He told me my boot had been repaired and when I came to pick it up, I was to ask for him as he would not let me leave the store unhappy. Well, I picked up my boot this afternoon and it looks good as new. I asked for Danny and not only did he profusedly apologize for the length of time it took to fix it, he gave me a %50 off coupon for any item in the store. Danny: you are fantastic! In my mind, you alone saved my impression of The Shoe Company and its lacking of good customer service.

Went in next day and an older cashier gave the 20% off but wss a bit insulting with a comment. Staff is definitely unfriendly in the Dartmouth store. Won't be returning there again. Well, it's better than Bayers Lake…read more .... I should probably elaborate on that then, eh? Look, I'm not a fan of these huge sprawling shopping districts. I'd much rather a mall where I can park and walk around. I know, I know, half of these stores wouldn't fit into your typical mall but I have to think the carbon footprint would be lower. Not that I'm going to start an environmental rant but form a pure user perspective, it's frustrating. It's park, go into store, walk out, drive to next store, park, and repeat. With all those reservations, Dartmouth Crossing does do better than some other shopping areas. For one thing, there are some sidewalks! And not one, but two, bus routes that service the area! They have also tried to create a "shopping district" within the larger area that focuses on clothing (mostly women's) in a "Main street" approach which is a nice change of pace. Areas for improvement: some of the intersections that are four-way stops should probably be converted to lights. Some of the "newer" sections don't have crosswalks - get on that.

As far as shopping areas go, this one takes the cake!…read more The best stores, some great eating, lots of entertainment! Not a mall per se, because it isn't one self contained pod of human odours and indoor stuffiness, but a shopping mecca for sure. So many stores for whatever your needs. Clothing, shoes, sporting goods, tools and hardware, Walmart (mecca of everything), food, house wares, and entertainment. You need something, you can find it in Dartmouth Crossing. After the Bayer's lake fiasco of driving, somewhere some engineer became smart! Getting into, around and out of Dartmouth Crossing is a breeze, turning lanes everywhere, little strips malls everywhere, box stores, and chains have there own little (large, humongous, gigantic) area. Not to mention the ten different ways in and out of the park. Driving through here is bliss, unlike Bayer's Lake where I'm pretty sure the Devil resides! Dartmouth Crossing you get an A+++++ in my books!

I saw the bad review & felt compelled to write a positive one as my experience was so different. I…read morewas looking for a very comfortable walking shoe. After examining my feet the woman steered me toward a pair of Akaisha shoes. I had never worn this brand so I kept looking at other shoes that had just come in. She assured me that for my feet these would be perfect. They were 40% off - I had not come in expecting any sale & she was convincing so I bought them. These shoes are the best I have worn in my entire life! I went on a trip to Paris 2 weeks later & wore them 12 hours a day sightseeing. My husband got blisters - my feet felt great at the end of the day. I was impressed because she could have easily sold me a much more expensive pair of shoes that I loved for the style. But she didn't - I love these shoes so much that when I could not get a 2nd pair I ordered an identical pair from the US with the help of the Akaisha US Rep.

They have assisted me in having my older Finn Comfort shoes and boots repaired. I have spent huge amounts of money on custom orthotic insoles with special brand orthotic shoes and the benefit has been marginal. Most of these so-called "orthotic" shoes cannot be repaired or rebuilt. Properly manufactured leather shoes with firm insoles yield nearly instant relief from ankle and arch pain--pain typically caused by flat feet (excessive pronating) and obesity. Pronating may be alleviated by light boots with ankle support--the benefit of the German brands is the all leather construction that conforms to your foot over time. In the end it is the responsibility of the buyer to communicate what they want and how a product feels.
