I got 2 Hydrofacial tickets from Groupon. I called a few times, no one picked up the phone. I think it was because of the holidays. Then I emailed them, and got a response. Set up an appointment on a Friday. On the day of, we came in, the practitioner was there to greet us. We have a back to back session. In the session, she cleaned my face first, then did suction on my face. This machine does the suction and pushing at the same time. While it is cleaning your pores, it pushes two different serums into your pores. Then she put on a mask, then serum, facial cream, and finished with a sunscreen. The entire session was very enjoyable, and my face looked very hydrated. I would come back again in a month or two. Also, they didn't treat us differently just because we have Groupons. Amazed this business has high reviews. Had an initial new client appointment with Sina: would NOT recommend. Her actual hair removal technique may be good (there's no way to know unless I were to go back 20 times), but her atrocious interpersonal style overshadows any potential results I could hope for. I think she is probably effective / knows technically what she is doing, but I would never want to get any service from Sina again because of the rudeness. The physical pain was bearable, her lack of care, thoughtfulness, and communication is unbearable. The approach to customer service was: sit down, shut up, grit your teeth through the pain in silence, pay, and get out. Don't ask questions. It was my first time getting electrolysis, and she explained basics about timing and rates over the phone in our 5 min call, but I was expecting to be walked through what she was going to do, how electrolysis works, etc. Nope! She told me to lay down and hold this metal handle. I asked why, what it's for? And she said, "This is all on google search. If you don't want to hold this I can just use another technique." And I said I just wanted to understand what this is, and ok what is the other technique, and she got irritated clearly in a rush because we had a 15 min time slot before the next client. I'm sorry - if you don't have time to talk a new client through how electrolysis works before you electrocute them and burn hair off their skin, maybe you should plan appointments better, as the person who owns your own schedule? I then just shut my mouth and let Sina do whatever she was going to without asking any questions. She barely said anything, other than telling me what she was applying to my face (witch hazel and numbing cream on upper lip), and then at the end telling me where I could buy the cream if I chose to come back (Laser Hair Clinic). PSA: if you're considering electrolysis, get the numbing cream at Laser Hair Clinic yourself ahead of your appointment and apply it 30 min before your session starts. Sina and this business a) don't give you this info or recommendation on the intake call and b) seem to have a problem just applying numbing cream to all the areas you're there for (maybe they're trying to reduce cost?) and c) Sina won't actually leave time for the numbing cream to take effect, so your skin will be numb, just after you've left your appt. There was zero instruction about how to care for skin after leaving appointment, or time for me to ask, but hey I have Google! I recommend electrolysis because the pain is manageable and it is permanent, but I'd try any other well-rated clinic on the west coast before coming to Sina. read more

Felt obligated to post a review in response to Nica's negative review yesterday. I had an appointment booked for 2:30pm yesterday (a Tuesday). Nica showed up at the same time. In reality, Nica had an appointment for 2:30pm on THURSDAY. Sina then offered to accommodate Nica AFTER my appointment in 30min, pushing her next client on an already fully booked day. However, Nica demanded she have MY appointment and not have to wait, despite this being Nica's scheduling mistake. Sina refused, and rightly so, because she has an obligation to the client who had the correct appointment (me). Nica then stormed out without saying a word. Sina then sent text messages following up with a screenshot of the appointment confirmation clearly stating her appointment was for Thursday (not Tuesday). I saw the confirmation myself. If anything, this situation shows you how much she values and is committed to her clients by (1) not capitulating to an unruly person in the wrong (Nica) while (2) STILL offering to accommodate her in order to mitigate the situation. I'm no stranger to electrolysis. I had my first session of electrolysis 8 years ago, and in the time since I've moved states, tried different electrologists, and different methods of electrolysis. I can say with confidence that Sina is the best electrologist I've ever found. I have invisibly blond body and facial hair, so just seeing the suckers can be a challenge, but Sina has really good eyes. Plus, she takes the time feel around, reposition the light, and find all of my difficult blond hairs. This is a real feat, which she deserves a lot of credit for. I've visited other electrologists before who'd brush me off as "all done" after a visit or two. They either couldn't see my blond hairs, or deemed them too tedious to continue treatment on. Sina, on the other hand, is both capable and thorough. Her bedside manner very welcoming and calming. Seeing her is kind of like seeing my hair stylist; it's a grounding experience where we touch base on life, love, and all the things in between. She's genuine, and makes me feel welcomed and valued. I first saw Sina 5 years ago, and as time progresses our visits grow more infrequent (maybe a brief visit once or twice a year now for spotty touch up jobs). It might sound dumb, but I kind of miss the days when I'd see her regularly and frequently. The machine she uses at the Union Square location is great. It's the least painful method I've had, and I couldn't ask for better results. I won't sugar coat it though, there are some hairs in some locations that are going to hurt, that's just the nature of the beast (no pain no gain!), but Sina does a great job of mitigating discomfort by prepping those areas with ointments when needed. I've had other electrologists tell me they either don't have anything, or they try to upsell me while under the needle (not cool!). When our sessions are wrapping up, Sina applies makeup with SPF that does a really good job of matching my skin tone and existing makeup. I've always been impressed by this. She also offers me a piece of ice wrapped in rubber (like the tip of a glove) to apply to any spot that might be a little swollen (like the upper lip). By the time I walk downstairs and out the door, you couldn't even tell I was getting electrolysis just moments prior. Granted, my face used to look more irritated back when I was dealing with thicker and darker hairs, but even still, the makeup Sina applied did a great job of mitigating the appearance. Soft Touch Electrolysis is also pretty convenient since it's just a few blocks from Powell Station, and once the Union Square Station opens, they'll be just 1 block away from that. They also have a phone receptionist who calls a couple days before to confirm your appointment. This lady has always been very polite and friendly. I also really appreciate that Sina is easy to work with on scheduling. And lastly, they accept credit card at this location, which is convenient. So yeah, if you're looking for an absolutely excellent electrologist, then look no further. I've waited years to write this review for Sina. She deserves every word of praise and more.
