I picked this restaurant on a whim because I was visiting Ollie's and I wanted something that was in the same plaza. I figured you can't go wrong with Greek and this place got high marks on Yelp so I thought I would give it a try. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. They were patient with all of my questions and special requests. I got the salad and soup combo. I was able to upgrade my soup to a larger size and then I was able to get a side of charbroiled chicken to add to my salad. They were also able to put the potato salad and olive on the side so my friend dining with me could have those things that I didn't want. The charbroiled chicken was fantastic. I really should have got another one. I'm still having dreams about that chicken and chasing that chicken hide. The music was a little loud when we first got in and I thought we'd have to sit outside to have a conversation, but luckily it wasn't too bad. It was just that one particular song. I do wish they had Coke products instead of Pepsi but it's not worth taking off a star for. All in all I would gladly eat here again and maybe next time get two chickens instead of one. read more

I am so glad I stopped by this spot. I ordered the 3 kabob platter and the portion size is massive. It came with a side salad and honestly every bite was delicious. You can tell the food is fresh and authentic. The vibe inside is great too. It's super clean and the decor actually makes it feel like you've stepped right into Greece. The staff was incredibly friendly and I'm pretty sure the owner was the one behind the bar making sure everyone was taken care of. Needs better service for pick up orders. Went in 4 minutes after pick up time Sofia tells me she didn't see the order and to give her 5 minutes. I wait outside for 10 minutes go back inside and stand there for a few minutes with no acknowledgment. I ordered a side of fries a single chicken skewer and a 2oz side of tzatziki sauce. I felt it was ridiculous to wait 20 minutes after my pick up time. Please do better for future customers because I will no longer be one. read more

Everything was great except I think the hummus with pita bread for appetizer doesn't give you enough hummus for the price! Hummus is delicious so very frustrating! If included more than small little plastic container that is usually only used for sauce at restaurants then this would be a 5 star rating! If don't want to add more hummus then should lower price. Greek salad is very good and so is potato salad in it. Gyro meat is good but asked for sauce on side and for the second time it was put on the gyro. read more

Stopped into Sophie's on way home for a to go order. My husband and I shared a gyro, Greek salad and feta fries. I failed to take pictures however. The lemony sauce the accompanies the fries was outstanding. The gyro was a 8/10 and the salad and dressing were a 9/10. This is the first Greek restaurant that we've been to that might rival Athenian Gardens in our opinion as far as food. The space is very small and there is some construction going on with the roof so don't let that deter you from popping in for some excellent Greek food. read more

Found this unassuming Greek restaurant on the way to Sand Key, what a hidden gem! It's in a little strip mall and you might miss it if you aren't looking. We got the chicken souvlaki lunch special which came with rice and a small Greek salad, the eggplant sandwich and a standard Greek salad with potato salad and a side of pita. Everything was authentic and delicious. The staff was friendly, fun music and we even enjoyed it out at their little patio tables. Perfect weather and a perfect lunch. Well back again. Sofia and her husband were nowhere in sight. Instead the place was being run by a bunch of Hispanics. That certainly accounts why the avgolemono that came with my lunch was way subpar; yuck! It tasted like chicken soup with a squirt of lemon juice. No smooth, velvety consistency; less seasoning than what's acceptable. Anyway: Queen Bee got a Greek salad. She absolutely loved it! Fresh produce and well dressed; crisp and not soggy. Certainly a decent sized portion. It came out fairly quick along with my avgolemono. Meantime, just a moment later the girl brought out my gyro meat atop a heap of rice pilaf. A nice little cup of tzatziki alongside as well as several warmed pita wedges. Meat was nicely done with a good amount of caramelization around the edges. We don't go here for the service (wasn't bad) or the atmosphere (nonexistent). We do so for the food and the fact that Sofia and her husband are charming people who make good food. I certainly hope they're both around next time so I can give them back their 4 star rating. read more

We came here for lunch on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised. We both had the chicken pita and shared a big Greek salad. Everything was super fresh and had great flavor. The oil seasoned dressing they provide you for the salad is very tasty. I also put it on my chicken pita and it made it even better. The tzatziki sauce is nice and thick with just the right amount of garlic. The chicken is flavored nicely. We've driven by Sofia's for so many years that we finally decided to drop by for some dinner. It's located on the west side of S. Belcher Rd. north of the intersection with Nursery Rd. in Clearwater. There's some indoor and outdoor seating but it has a very small interior dining area. For our entrées, we opted for the Greek Feast. It comes with one skewer of grilled chicken, gyro meat over rice, dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice, tomatoes and herbs) and some wedges of spanakopita (spinach pie). It also comes with a delicious Greek salad for starters. Every item on the Greek Feast was great! I would order the same exact dish again. There isn't any table service inside or out. They do deliver your food to your table but that's it. There's a self-serve drink station with sodas and iced teas. They do a lot of take out business. I would recommend this restaurant for it's take-out service. This mom and pop restaurant is ideal if you want fresh, great tasting Greek take-away. You should stop by and give them a try! read more

This is a great little fusion between what feels like super authentic Greek food (hello yes, Horiatiki) and Americanized Tarpon Springs Greek food (lookin' at your potato salad). Both of these approaches to Greek food make my belly and heart equal parts happy and satisfied. We were excited to order the dolmades as they have a vegetarian style. We also got a the Greek plate which came with spinach and cheese pies and Greek salad. As if that wouldn't have been enough food (it would have) we got the 3 skewer chicken meal over rice with a Horiatiki salad. This ended up being a lot of food! We got 4 and a half meals out of it. And the best part about this meal, or rather these meals...aaaaaallll the cheese. Seriously, I've never seen so much feta in my life. Things worth noting...this is definitely a great takeout spot. There's limited seating and it's not exactly comfortable. In addition there is no public use restroom. And lastly the water has a taste to it..water shouldn't have a taste.. I also wouldn't fully recommend the spinach pies. They were tasty but I've had better and they ended up being the most underwhelming bite of food from the meal. The village salad on the other hand...SOOO GOOD. Their produce was stellar, these were the reddest tomatoes I've had from a restaurant maybe all summer! Lastly, order extra pita. The meals come with pita, and still it's not enough (is it ever enough?). Even though I just now finished the leftovers today, I'm already looking forward to my next meal from Sofia's. read more

One of my favorite things about the Tampa Bay area is the abundance of great Greek food. I'm particularly fond of the unique technique of a scoop of potato salad as the centerpiece for a Greek salad. Sofia's uses this technique and offers up a fantastic Greek salad. The restaurant is in a storefront next to a Chinese takeout and a Subway in a strip mall. There are a couple of small tables; Sofia's does a booming to-go business. The salad itself is iceberg lettuce, sliced red onions, half a tomato, quartered, sliced cucumbers and a few olives, garnished with crumbled feta cheese plus a nice scoop of potato salad. Mine was topped with a huge portion of freshly carved gyro meat. Amy's was topped with a sliced, broiled chicken breast. Both were accompanied by cups of delicious Greek dressing and some outstanding tzatziki sauce. And a few slices of grilled pita. I've never had anything else but the Greek salad from Sofia's, but if this salad is any indication, I'm gonna have to try the rest of the menu. And some baklava. Opa!! read more

Been eating seafood all week and just wanted something different. Decided on Greek food. Haven't had good Greek food in a while because where I am from, it's not easy to find or takes a while to get there. So, opened up yelp and started my search. Multiple options appeared and really not far away either. Look at many locations, a few with more reviews than this place and some with less. Some places were much closer to our hotel, but I locked into this one after reading the menu, the reviews and looking at the pictures. I am so glad we chose this place!!!! The outside appeal is not the most desirable of locations, but to me sometimes these are the best places (hidden gems)! Walk in and the dining area is minimal, approximately 5 table for two people each and just a few table outside as well. The inside decor almost matches the outside. We were greeted right away by the owners who both had great smiles on their faces! The smells coming from behind the counter were just making my mouth water. I already knew what I wanted before I got there. By already looking at the menu ahead of time. We had the hummus and pita as well as fried feta for appetizers. YES, FRIED FETA, just like mozzarella cheese, they fried feta the same way. Let me start off my saying that I will never appreciate a mozzarella cheese stick the same way again after having the fried feta. I wish it could be on every menu because it is that good! The sharpness of the feta combined with the gooeyness of a typical mozzarella cheese stick. I absolutely loved it! They provide you with a marinara sauce to dip them in. I enjoyed them either with the sauce or without. The hummus was light and nice. Could have used just one tiny little pinch of salt. The pita that they provided with the hummus was wonderful though! Piping hot, with a soft center and crispy edges. Clearly tell it was not store bought. Not used to having pita taste like that. For my meal, I got the gyro pita. The pita was the same wonderful pita from the hummus. The gyro meat was so soft and tender. The spices were just right and loved the garlic flavor of it. The tatziki sauce was probably my least favorite of all. I love my Tatziki. This one did not have any dill in it and just a bit too much of a yogurt taste for my personal preference. It was still good, don't get me wrong about that; just not how I prefer it. This small mom & pop type location may not be the most up to date or stylish place, but it has the flavors that I thoroughly enjoy when looking for great authentic Greek food.
