And now for something completely different: A drive through soda shoppe. Okay, maybe not completely different, but certainly unusual.
Soda Station offers flavored sodas and a few hot beverages when coffee drinks aren't what you want and the ordinary fast food drinks are too "ordinary". However, if you want ordinary, but everyone else wants something not-so-ordinary, Soda Station comes to the rescue.
There are three sizes available, and you can order with light, normal, or extra ice,but you can add one or more of about two dozen different flavors or about six add-ins, all for an extra price. If picking something seems like too much work, there are some ready-made flavor combinations, including some for kids, and even some hot beverages -- good for this cooler time of year.
We tried two, one of each: A cold drink of "The Hunting Season", made with Dr. Pepper and Coconut and Cream, and then the Son of a Gun -- a hot chocolate with peppermint and cream. Both were good, but I thought the cold drink was too watered down. The coconut and cream tasted closer to something using coconut and water. Although it was good, I'm not sure I'd order it again. As for the hot drink, although I only had a small taste of the hot chocolate, it was enough for me to decide I'd get that on my next visit and even prefer it over any of the coffee places version of the same. It was really good.
Soda Station doesn't serve food, but they do have popcorn, a good accompaniment whose flavor won't detract from the drink.
I like this place. It's different and fun. read more
