I came into this salon based on the reviews on Yelp. I made an appointment with Kim, she was absolutely lovely. It was like hanging out with one of my best friends from high school. She suggested I try out rockstar nails because I told her I was going to a wedding. I have had an endless amount of compliments on my fingernails. She was quick and friendly. I have tried most of the salons in the area and I am so pleased to be here...good manicurists are difficult to find in RP and I found the best in Shannon B....I have thin nails which break easily and gels used to chip in the first week. Shannon took on my nails as a challenge...she did repairs at no charge...until she found the right combination of products to work with my nails...now my gel manicure lasts...she is also a creative nail artist who does special occasion work or just something unique...I enjoy talking and laughing with her and the manicure is fun...she doesn't hurt my cuticles and she uses lovely oils on my hands...all at an incredibly fair price...you can't go wrong with Shannon. read more

At least a full week ago, I called during business hours to make an appointment for next week, trying to book two weeks ahead of time as is suggested. Unfortunately, I never got a call back, despite my detailed message. I called again today and this time someone answered and said that they might not be able to book me this "last minute" but that is why I called last week. She said she would send out messages to the staff and get back to me within an hour to see if their schedules could accommodate me. That was about 5 hours ago and I really doubt I'll be getting a call back. This is really unfortunate because I've never been here and from the online reviews and a friend, I've heard excellent things about The Loft and I was really excited to book. However, customer service is very important and not getting back to a potential client twice within a week is just poor etiquette and bad for business. I guess I'll have to book elsewhere. read more

Well- after a daunting review I posted (and deleted) about this business. I returned by the request of the owner- Jena Cash. I wouldn't normally return to a place of business that I reviewed so horribly as a first impression- mostly fearing that my second might prove my first in fact to be true- and why go through something awful twice? But Jena made me feel as though she sincerely did care about my experience at her salon and made me extremely comfortable and confident that my second experience would in fact replace my first in the best kind of way. Well, she was right. I returned today and was pleasantly suprised that she not only made me feel welcome and comfortable- they had stocked up on current magazines (which in my first review was a nit pick). She was super friendly and I can't say enough how comfortable I felt. Total 160* from my last experience here. Thank you so much Jena. Mallory is my one stop, go to girl. I've been receiving lash extensions from her for almost a year. The works she does is the best I've seen & it's affordable for the quality of service you'll be getting. She's knowledgable & friendly. I've always been insecure about my skin & would be on and off Proactiv. I was never completely happy with my skin with that regimen. Mallory was able to analyze my skin & teach me about what my skin really needs. NOT your typical nail salon. Very cute with a very cute mascot lounging around. Feels like you're at a gf's house rather than lined up waiting for your turn on a factory production line heading to the sorting tank. Chose based on other reviews. Walked in and scheduled an appointment for later that day. I did however, first stop at another (won't name names) salon based on similar reviews and wasn't able to get an appointment. There were employees there, but rude and seemed to have a superior attitude. I don't ever expect quality technicians to be sitting waiting readily for a walk in but jeez.... So glad I came here instead. Tip: Type the address into google maps without 'suite c' and spell out southwest. Place was frustrating to find when I used yelps get directions button-it takes you the wrong direction. Also, google maps doesn't recognize the address if you select open in maps google maps button. As I walked in I was greeted by 2 friendly manicurists and a sleepy cuddly making me want to stay an snuggle pooch. Nobody was able to fit me in until later in the evening. Because of this the owner gave me a $5 off coupon for redemption (which I couldn't bare to use on the first visit) pretty awesome customer service if you ask me. I came back and got a gel manicure by Mandy. There was another manicurist there at that time chatting with us. She was so generous and let me pick from one of her glitters for my mani. Such a friendly team environment to be in. I really wanted a hand soak for my cuticle removal-they are so dry. Mandy was great at educating me on how that's not best practice for gel applications. Even so, I soaked them and my mani lasted. My mani looked great, my service was A+ This place is great. I recommend trying them if you want a better than average service, friendly engagement & inviting atmosphere. *I knocked one star off after coming in a second time getting service by someone else. I had to ask during my manicure for her to file down the thick chunk of glue that was leftover from a broken nail fix with fiberglass before she started painting. I picked out clear gel polish with all over glitter for added strength. Unfortunately I noticed something once I got home and was showing off my little gems.... Three fingernails were bumpy and chunky. One was so chunky we could feel all the way down to the glitter. All three were so bumpy the look and feel bothered me so much I smoothed them down and resealed it with my own clear coat and light the same night. I wish I had not fixed them and went back for her to see for herself. It was clear polish which is why I didn't notice before I left, plus I was just getting over being sick and didn't really check my nails out until I got home to show them off. I still recommend this place but I definitely believe some techs are more skilled than others. Ashley Blanchard is amazing and the Loft is so cute. Being born and raised in Petaluma I have been to almost all the Salons in town. I stopped a girl on the street because of how amazing her hair looked and she raved about how great Ashley was. I'm really picky with my hair, I wanted someone who is great with detail and accuracy with a extensive training background on cuts and color. She knows what she's doing but also listens to what I want. Ashley is the OCD, pays attention to detail stylist I have been searching for for forever!!!! She knows I'm growing my hair out and her cuts are perfect and even. She put more foil and variety into my hair then anyone has ever. I love how close to the root she gets with the color.
