We stumbled across this location while looking for a 30th birthday card for my nephew, with a little time to kill between picking up my daughter from camp and our 4:45 PM movie down the street. It's really my daughter's kind of store; she just loves it. They have an outstanding selection of hand-printed paper for wrapping, decorating, or crafting, and their assortment of stationery, cards, art supplies, and fun small gifts is first-class. Everything is fun, fresh, and reasonably priced--so much better than grabbing a card at CVS. They even have a great, small discount section. When checking out, they asked if we had a Barnes & Noble membership, so it looks like they're owned by the same corporation. Customer service here is great! The staff warmly welcomes you right when you walk in, and everyone was super friendly and helpful in finding exactly what we needed. The store is clean, bright, well-maintained, and fully stocked. The inventory layout is wonderful, with different sections set up depending on what you're looking for. Definitely take your time to browse everything.

The staff were all friendly. The assortment of inventory is wonderful. Take your time to look at everything. They have many different venues set up depending on what you are looking for. They have a great discount area as well. The assortment of startionary, cards, and art supplies is first class. When we checked out they asked if we had a Barnes and Noble membership so they are somehow associated to B & N. When you have time and want to peruse and shop at a lovely stationary store make a point to head over to The Point in El Segundo. While you are there make sure you go at a meal time as there are many yummy eateries to choose from while you are there!

The Time Travel Mart One time, I was told this about this place that was selling time travel supplies, that's pretty much what I was told. So in my head I thought it could be anything from a joke shop to an eyebrow-less guy's electronic shop. But anyway I went, well we went, me and my friend D. Miscavige. Maybe the best part about this place is discovering it. It's really well hidden / in plain-sight on a major street. But still, when you walk up, there it is: A giant sign that clearly reads "Time Travel Mart" and windows that say a whole-lot else. (i.e. Chubble, and Robot Milk) Awesome, then you're inside what looks like like an outpost/sundry shop/living room. Cool, then, upon best the part, "Exploration" you experience what's a like a mini Willy Wonka factory reveal but for "Time Travel" (everything is edible = nothing makes sense).......................... But it all does, in the end.) The space is filled with all sorts-a-stuff. (loose rundown)*ever changing 1. Medicines, tonics, bottles, potions, liquids, maybe purification slugs. 2. Choice gear. 3. Cold Fusion 4. An exquisite library. 5. -Infinite- other stuff BOOBAM - this place is bumpp. And now here I am, and I'm like what is this place? What time is it? Enter lovely lady from the future: She goes on to make sense of the whole moment. She explains that all of this awesome stuff is made by, and supports 826LA; 826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Cool right? Yes very. But what makes this place of particular note is simple: The idea is spot-on, the practice is spot-on (anyone with something to share or teach can apply to volunteer) And the products are spot-on (seriously spot on) You read the stuff I wrote before. Some other cool notes, you can download an 826LA album on iTunes that kids wrote, and some true pro music makers performed. Watch how much of that robot milk you drink. Make sure to get your PASTport. This really is the type of place that improves everything around it. And absolutely should be -anywhere- it's needed. Timing is everything. I love the Echo Park Time Travel Mart and wanted to give their Mar Vista location a visit sometime while I'm on the west side. Their hours are pretty limited. Google and Yelp claim Friday to Sunday from 12:00-6:00pm, but buried on their own website it says 2:00-6:00pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays. Not sure which is more up to date. But I've gone out of my way on two separate occasions when the hours overlap, and both times they've been closed anyway. Their website does warn they're often closed during their hours and to call ahead, but I haven't gotten an answer. (I guess because they're usually closed?) So yeah, if you can catch them when they're open, great! But I wouldn't advise going out of your way for it unless you can call in advance and confirm they'll actually be open.

I have been coming here since they opened some 8+ years ago, mainly for the candles and cards…read more I love the candle selection - the stuff I'm looking for is always in stock (Maison Louis Marie and Boy Smells). I love standing in front of the candle selection, smelling my way through the new brands and smells - especially if it's been a minute since I've been there. Personally, I think they have the best candle selection on the west side. What I also love, is how fairly priced the candles are - they are sold at the price you find them online. I expected a mark-up but was really surprised to see there wasn't one. Their card selection is also the best. I can stand in front of that wall for a good half hour reading all of the cards and stocking up for upcoming birthdays, holidays and thank you's. Even when the card wall is looking a little empty there's still a bunch of great options that fit what you're looking for. The customer service has always been good - I recently went in to exchange a candle (within the 14 days) with a half printed receipt (the machine had run out of paper) and I didn't bring my wallet. The girl who helped me with my exchange was really nice and while it took a bit to locate my purchase from that day due to the situation she was super helpful and I was able to finish my exchange without having to come back. I no longer live in the area so I was really grateful to save an extra trip. I'm happy to see the store's phone number is on yelp. It wasn't originally when I was calling to ask about my exchange. I highly recommend this store for fun home things and cards!!! And for what it's worth - I love the kids shop next door. Everything I have purchased for friends with new babies or kid's birthdays has been a hit! It really is the cutest store full of things you won't find anywhere else.
