Wow. Well where do I start. I have been fighting for SSDI for 2 years. I got approved. I also applied for SSI because the person that filled out my appl8cation said i should apply for it, even when I told the person I would be getting LTD. I was approved 2 years later after having to fight for it. I was approved my the judge on May 27th and ssdi approved me June 30th, I got a letter stating that my back pay was on hold due to my ssi application. I was denied ssi on July 7th 2026 which was my interview with them but yet, as they sent a letter saying it was the 16th of july 2026. They released the payment to my lawyers, and when i spoke to ssdi the end if july they said i should have my back pay by the 22nd of August 2026, said if i had not heard anything by that yime then to call. I called and was told ssi had not closed out my case and my back pay is still on hold! Lol so it's been almost 45 days since i was denied by ssi even though it shows i was denied in both ssi and ssdi systems they will not release my back pay until ssi processes my case. My landlord was diagnosed with cancer and has been fighting and found out 1 week ago about there is nothing else they can do for him and gas 6 months to live. I am and have been counting on this back oay from ssdi that i have fought 2 years for and waited 70 minutes on the phone today to be tomd i should just be patient. Being told ssi case mamget has not done their job. They wonder why there are soooo many homeless and upset and angry people. But when some on the other end that has an attitude from the get go of answering the phone and you are truong very hsrd to be nice. I actially have no patience for people who are unable to do.their jobs! And if anyone makes thos political it's not a political thing. It's a person that is holding up my back pay. I even asked if there was anything i could so to help speed it along. I was tomd they sent an email to the manager. So I am just supposed yo have patience well maybe they should be more patient with people and nicer wjen answering their calls!​ read more

Tried to register online and failed. Was sent to local SS office. I was told by the guard to take a number. After 15 minutes, an announcement was made that everyone needed a prior appointment prior to coming in. Why didn't the guard or the online agent tell me this? I went home to call the number for an appointment and was told there was a 2 hour wait. This is typical government. Bureaucracy and lack of helpfulness. read more

Representative Heather answered and was so polite, upbeat, professional. She made the experience pleasant. I waited on the phone for 3 hours. I finally just ended the call as it was so aggravating.

I was in and out in 25 minutes. I had all the required documentation and application filled out, so when they called my number it only took a few minutes. Nick was the employee that helped me he was pleasant and he helped get what I needed done! My request was a little special, but he explained what would happen and got me on my way! It opens at 9am so I decided to get there 10 minutes early. There were a dozen people waiting at the door so I got in line before the doors opened so that helped get me in and out quickly! I would suggest getting there a little early so you don't have to wait as long. read more

Stopped in to have the last name updated on my social security card number. The process was very easy. You walk in, mask up, checkin at the kiosk and wait to be called to a station. I was there only maybe 15 minutes. The lady that helped me was super friendly and interested about how we got married and where. She genuinely seemed interested and didn't rush me on my way. I waited in person for an hour at this SSA office in South Jordan, Utah, to schedule an in person appointment...in a long line of people all of whom had also come in person to do the same, since no one answers the phone to schedule appointments. Then the "lady at Window F"...the one in charge of finding reasons NOT to schedule in-person appointments, told me to fill out a form and call a specific phone number. The very same phone number I called repeatedly last week and got no answer even after waiting on hold for more than an hour on each occasion. Of the five windows that were there to actually talk to people, only one was staffed. My frame of reference for government ineptitude is California's DMV...which, as I believe everyone knows, is the poster child of governmental incompetence. I thought Utah had their act together, but evidently, that's not the case when it comes to the Social Security Administration. And people question why our federal government needs to be fixed. DOGE can't take effect a moment too soon. This is completely unacceptable. read more

I have come to expect and know that the Government is pretty bad at organization, systems, process, and overall ability to maximize and run any business - AND, this office and system takes that cake as absolutely terrible. To me, I do not mind having to jump through a few hoops and abide by the "rules" of a particular organization, but when the organization fails to make you aware of the requirements and makes you wait ov er 2 hours to speak with anyone... well, that is less than 1-Star in my book. I first went to their website, thinking that I could get info or maybe an appointment or a way to expedite getting the Social Security Card for my new child. There was no way to get through the website, and the data that was there had nothing to do with my need; which I am pretty sure I am not the only parent who has ever needed to get the social security card off new baby. Then, the phone call was EVEN WORSE. After dealing with the automated system for 10+ minutes they finally say that they will connect me to an operator, with a wait time of 55 minutes. 1 hour and 20 minutes later I finally speak to a person, but they are not helpful because they are the national office and not able to help - so they direct me to the local office. Once at the local office and a 2 hour wait, I have my Driver's License, Passport, Birth Certificate, and Social Security Card, but I only have a Birth Certificate for my child - which, what else COULD I have??? Well, they do not acc eat a brith certificate, and let me know that I need a certified letter from a Doctor signifying that my child is alive and a person. Unbelievable.
