They have a decent sized kids section. If you follow your google maps GPS to get here just know there is little to no parking along highland. It's better to park in the shopping center parking lot, which is where the library front doors face anyway.

A really wonderful library that is just the cutest most historic library I've seen yet! I wouldn't be surprised if it was the oldest library in Utah.

It's modern in that clean, beautiful way where you suddenly feel like a better person just by walking inside. I had time before the show started, so I wandered around pretending I had my life together, which honestly was very believable in that lighting. The staff was so sweet and genuinely helpful. Like not just "here's your answer" helpful, but "I love my job and also hope you have a great day" helpful. Rare and deeply appreciated. There are big windows everywhere, comfy seats, little pockets of calm where you can read, think, or journal about how magical the place is. I would come here even without a performance, just to sit and pretend I'm writing my novel or about to run into someone who's about to change my life. Also, yes, there's a rooftop patio, and yes, it's as dreamy as it sounds. If I lived closer, I'd be here all the time, probably with a lavender tea, trying not to romanticize everything but definitely failing.

SLC Library…read morepeeps have already proven that with the downtown wonder, but even though this lil' guy is just a wee one, doesn't mean they didn't make it nice, because they really made something wonderful. I was looking to plan a meeting and as a card carrying member, I remembered that they let you book rooms here for free with your library account. We grabbed one of the study rooms, booked it out several days in advance, and had a really productive time. You can only book two hour blocks total, but how handy is that? The library itself is beautiful inside and out, with stories worth of stories (see what I did there?). The room we were in was on the second story, but now that they're building that massive structure to the north, the northerly views are obstructed. Still, that second story has an outdoor deck area that looks like it would amazing in better weather. Kudos to SLC Library for planting this in the up-and-coming Marmalade District and making it a fixture for years to come.

I…read morehaven't figured out their "speciality" yet, but it's easy enough to reserve materials and have them brought to this branch. Holds from other branches vary in the time they take to show up, but if it's available at the time you reserve it, it doesn't take but 48-72 hours to show up at Herriman's branch. Most of the libraries are phenomenal - super helpful, personable, and knowledgable. There are one or two I've encountered who are super quick to add fees to your library account (like when I pointed out a children's book had damage that we didn't do, she tried to charge me for the book) but they're the rare exception. We loved all the precautionary measures this branch did during COVID to make patrons feel safer. It was like Christmas when they opened up curbside pickup during COVID and like coming home when they opened their doors again. We love our public library!

When I was growing up all my local library had was books! My how things change. When you walk into the new and improved library you are welcomed by the library staff which then opens to a huge open space with big bright windows. Not the small cramped dark library of yesterday... Classes are also available and change monthly along with author book readings. Actually they is so much to enjoy I can't put it all in a review. Go check it out for yourself. It's open. One last thing, this branch (like West Jordan's) has the automatic check in so you don't have to wait for someone to check in your items, especially if they are due that day.

All of the levels and common areas had an abundance of space and tall ceilings! The stairs and elevators were close together and easy to navigate. The Children's Library on the downstairs level was adorable! It brandished childrens' artwork, play tables and many other fun ideas. We ventured through each level and then made our way to the rooftop which had a lot of seating and spectacular views of downtown SLC and its surroundings. The weather was perfect to stay up there and chat for an hour. We also visited the Library Bees- we didn't expect to find Langstroth hives inside a library. This is the coolest library I've been to in the US. If you love books and libraries this is a can't miss experience.

There's an enclosed outdoor area as well, an "attic," so much tactile stuff, even an enclosed play pen for littles with walls of board books. And that's just one of five floors (+ rooftop garden). There are shops and a cafe on the main entrance. They give you two free hours of parking, which will FLY by. Honestly, I could live here.
