I didn't expect it to be that fast. First of all you need to have an appointment you can book it online or call and they will also help you with that. I went for my appointment to register my car , and I was little earlier than I supposed to. You can go in 15 minutes before your appointment. The moment I went in got my number called and I only spent like 7 minutes to finish and pay and get the plates. Really amazing service.

I tried to set it up at a different DMV location who told me they had not done one as of April 2026, was unaware how to do it, and didn't seem interested in figuring it out. They referred me to the Taylorsville office. Once there, I was taken to Meg's counter. She was aware of the program but said I was the first person she knew of to ask for it. She wasn't knowledgeable of the entire process but took the time to research the fairly complex procedure and assisted me in getting set up so that all my vehicle registrations expired in the same month and could be renewed in one transaction, saving me two trips to the DMV each year. Meg was extremely pleasant, professional, and helpful. She dedicated over an hour to me and remained laser focused on meeting my need successfully. Considering the complexity of what I was looking to do, hard to imagine getting a better representative to help me. Kudos to Meg and I hope she can be recognized for superior customer support.

When setting an appointment, I've never waited longer than a couple mins to be called. In fact, the last time I came, I ended up getting there a little late. It was 5:00pm when I showed up to the door and they were literally just locking the door and changing the sign to closed. I had just been called up to window #1 on my phone and they were kind enough to open back up so I could get in

So very tough to know how you rate an entire county. But this is really a review for the Salt Lake…read moreCounty building there on 21st and State in SLC. And it looks like each department there has their own listing. So let's stick to the overall complex here. First, it's a big old building and the layout has never made much sense. You have a north building and a south building (when visiting, note that you'll have a 2001 S. State Street address followed by N2100 or S1300 or whatever). The two buildings are connect by a sky bridge located on the third floor. Which is kind of a pain if you're going from N4200 to S2200, for example. You have to go down from 4 to 3, cross the bridge, then go down from 3 to two. Or go all the way down, walk out of the building, and go back up to 2. Does that seem horribly nitpicky? Well it is. And the fact that there's a sky bridge is great. So you'll find all kinds of services here--from USU Extension to the County Mayor's office to Health services and Human Services, the County Auditor, Assessor, and even a small branch of Mountain America Credit Union. I haven't been to the branch for years, but it's teeeeny and according to MACU's website it's still there in the South Building. Should you find yourself in the building it's probably for a very mundane or ever not-fun task. But these people are nice, generally speaking. And it ain't the DMV. This is where the heartbeat and pulse of county government happens. Oh, and the cafeteria isn't half bad!

However, the next available appointment was over three weeks away. So I decided to just go in person and wait. I am disabled, I use crutches to walk. I went one afternoon, and stood in line waiting for about 10-15 minutes. Finally, the woman working the desk called me forward and told me it was too late to start and to come back in the morning. Which I did. This time, I stood in line for over 40 minutes. I was never even acknowledged. I understand that people with an appointment get preference. But really, not to ever even speak to me. No one offered to get me a chair or assist me in any way. It was just totally rude. And I think it is NOT a good system at all. I just left. I physically couldn't stand any longer, and no one was willing to even give me an idea of how long it might be. Really rethinking the whole "move" thing. Welcome to Utah. :-(

The District Court handles probate, adoption, civil, domestic, criminal, and juvenile cases, as well as housing the Utah Supreme Court (Appeals Court). The majority of business that happens here is down on the first floor in the north wing of the building. This is where the clerks for domestic, civil and criminal do their work. It also holds the probate clerk. The line for the clerks is often long and you may have to wait upward of 40 minutes sometimes. This is not typical however and the clerks do the best they can. The clerks office is very short staffed, so don't blame them. they are doing the best they can, and most are extremely helpful and will point you in the right direction. This is NOT the place you go if you are paying a traffic violation. For that you need to go to the Salt Lake Justice Court. Coming here wastes your time and others time. Don't do it. There is also a cafe located in the back west wing on the first floor. I cannot attest to the food there as I have never eaten there, but I am told that the food isn't terrible. All in all this courthouse is nice, but hopefully you never need to come here.
