DMV is no longer in So Salt Lake. This location is closed. The Taylorsville office was efficient, friendly, and helpful. One suggestion if I may, go online or call to make your appointment. DO NOT walk in and wait for an available clerk unless you absolutely have to. With an appointment, the wait is 5-20 minutes. Without an appointment the wait can be 1-3 hours or more when they are busy. The chairs are not that comfortable! Ask me how I know! Lol!! read more

I had a very disappointing experience with the Utah Motor Vehicle Division. The staff treated people poorly and showed little patience or willingness to help, especially with those who do not speak English fluently. Instead of finding solutions or offering support, the agents seemed dismissive and unhelpful. This is unacceptable for a public service office that serves such a diverse community. The Utah DMV urgently needs to provide translators or bilingual staff, and train their agents to deliver better customer service. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism--regardless of the language they speak. Until these changes are made, the experience will continue to be frustrating and unfair for many people. Is so sad to see that Utah DMV employees became so rude to customers, same customers that allow them to have a job. read more

Great job! Long line but good. The Agent was awesome and very knowledgeable with all aspects and questions that I asked her about with my visit. She was very helpful and courteous and professional and prompt, and quick, With her job and getting me out of there so quick, which I was so grateful for. Everyone with their smiles at the DMV in Draper and they make me feel welcome. I would definitely choose going to Draper for now on even though I live in Murray to Take care of all and everything that I would need to do in the future with the DMV. Definitely stay away from Taylorsville L O L DMV. Most of the employees that I ever work with For that help me when I go there are most of the time is rude and impatient and some of them try to act like they are real police officers L O L trying to act like they are cops and they have authority Towards customers. And never happened to me, but I saw that while I was waiting for my number to be called for my turn to receive help. What an absolute joke, I've spent the last four months trying to get a duplicate title. I updated my address the first time I called in, filled out my shipping address on the form for the duplicate title and it still somehow got sent to the wrong address. I called a month after the first request and the woman told me she wasn't sure why it was sent out to the wrong address but assured me that she would update my address and get a new copy sent out. After another few weeks of waiting and no title, I call them back and am told that the woman I spoke to the second time lied, they never got another title sent out and there was no record of me calling. After the third try I decide to go into the office because clearly everyone on the phone has no idea what they're talking about or just hasn't been trained sufficiently. I'm told that I need to repay a third time and maybe they'll get the title sent out. Absolutely ridiculous, at this point code enforcement has already sent a notice that the car needs to be off the property, so even if they manage to get it together and get my title sent out it will be too late. Thanks for nothing DMV, I truly never understood the hate before but now I totally get it. This has been the most frustrating experience in my life, no joke. Give yourself at least 6 months to get any important paperwork you may need because chances are it's going to take anyone working there that long to figure out how to do their job. read more

You have no choice, you have to use the Utah DMV. When you finally interact w/the staff, they're amenable. It's the website and the phone directory. It runs you in circles. I didn't expect it to be that fast. First of all you need to have an appointment you can book it online or call and they will also help you with that. I went for my appointment to register my car , and I was little earlier than I supposed to. You can go in 15 minutes before your appointment. The moment I went in got my number called and I only spent like 7 minutes to finish and pay and get the plates. Really amazing service. read more

The customer service I received from here was absolutely appalling. Specifically from the woman with dark/red dyed hair with bangs at station 8. I was not acknowledged when walking up,I was not spoken to directly, I was literally treated like a second class citizen. The employee initially denied to assist me and said that my request was not possible to do. After requesting for the manager, whose customer service was .5% better than the other employee, and stating I would be submitting a complaint about the terrible customer service, the employee was then able to process my request. I called, complained, and was grateful that Angie Car was willing to take action on the atrocious behavior and service of the employee. read more

So first of all I am disabled , I suffer from a severe form of Crohn's disease , I know we are going through an epidemic at the moment but REALLY!!! No bathrooms, Waiting in line in my car for 4 hours with a plastic bag and TP in case I have an accident. Unfortunately I need to go again, definitely not looking forward to this. I'm in love with Utah in part for its many great people but the DMV was AMAZING. I am from Texas and I have lived in at least 5 virtues ( big and small). When you make an appt in Texas you know it will be a minimum 4-5 hour wait. I saw someone complain about no service and a smile- you wouldn't make it in other places. I have sat in Dmv's in Texas for hours - day I have a 1:30 appt and when 5 o'clock comes they tell you " were closing" so you have to show back up at 8am to pick up your spot in line. And then you may live on one side of town but appts average 2 weeks for routine stuff ( late registration) but 3-4 months for a new license or ID and it may be a solid 2 hour drive to the opposite side of town to get that early appt. Need to schedule a drivers test for your license- that would be minimum 6 month wait. I brought 2 books and a sandwhich for lunch I was prepared because people complained it's too much work without an appt. Everyone was so nice and helpful because the dealership did not send all the correct paperwork ( and it was a big dealership that should have known better). Came back and again with correct paper work and we were out in 5 minutes. Way to go, y'all made us soooo happy! read more

Can I really... I mean really give a DMV office 5 stars? Really, really, really? I have thought long and hard on this and concluded that I can. As a new resident, Im well aware of the extra steps often needed to register a vehicle from another state. I plan ahead for this process... sort of like a frantic shopper before Black Friday, but not really as intense. I arrived at the reception desk and was greeted with a smile, yes a smile, and given the "wait for it number". I turn around to make my to the seating area. BING!! My number has been called! Are you serious?? I didn't get a chance to plop my ever expanding butt on those really uncomfortable looking chairs! Sweet!! I go to the desk and was greeted with a smile AND a "good afternoon" The technician starts typing away into her computer information from my previous registration certificate, we do the VIN inspection, and return to the office where Im given a grand total of fees (lower than other states I have registered in) along with 2 new plates and stickers. Drum roll please... 15 minutes, and that included smiles, please/thank yous, light bantering on the weather. I swear all information is true and correct, signed John Yelper. read more

Terrible service. Went to get my car out of impound and they sent me to the police station because they couldn't read the impound report. It was perfectly legible. I came back to the dmv the next day and they said ive already picked up my car, then a 10 or so minutes later they figure it out print out the impound release and I'm on my way. I go to renew my registration and they tell me I can't because my car is in impound‍whoever released my car didn't make note of it so i called the dmv and they were nothing but rude, they asked me to email the copy of the release they gave me to them around 4:50 it's now 5:00 so I can't reach them and it's a weekend so I have to wait 2 more days before my car is legal to drive all because some lady didn't do her job right. read more

A little smile and kindness goes a long way... Also, being organized and printing your forms online before you come in helps. I came to this DMV on my whirlwind DMV morning and had excellent service from Kathy. I was changing my Oregon license plates to UT and was completely confused about the process. I came in right when the DMV opened in the middle of the week, the middle of the month. I think this is the first key to good service - the DMV isn't swamped with angry customers with expired plates in the middle of the month and the employees are more cordial. Kathy was very patient and took the time to listen to my slightly complicated story of why I hadn't registered my car in Utah sooner. She congratulated me on my engagement and explained to me that even though my car is only 2 years old, I still needed to do emissions testing because it was an odd-year (as in, odd and even, not odd like strange). I ran to the place on the corner to get the quick test and came right back to her counter - I didn't need to wait in line again - and she handed me over my new Utah plates and stickers! read more

This is the model of what a DMV should be like! I've been here 3 times. Each time, the wait is less than 5 minutes and the service is exceptional. Happy and helpful workers. One time, there was no wait and this was at lunch time on a Friday! I prefer this one to the Draper location and will go out of my way to get to this one. read more

Overall, probably one of the better if not best experiences that I think I've ever had at a DMV anywhere. Really efficient, fast service. Waited in line for about 2 minutes with dozens of people there on a busy day. I think I was there for maybe 10 minutes tops, processed paperwork and done. Customer service is terrible. Both ladies I spoke to were short with me from the second I greeted them. The lady who was supposed to help me get my car registered didn't even open the PNG file with my insurance cards in it, told me the picture was too small and I had to go elsewhere to print out a legible copy and make another appointment and come back. If she had opened my file and printed it out properly I could have my car registered but instead I have to go print it out myself and take an additional day off of work to go back to the DMV read more
