Everyone was very nice here, but the woman taking license photos should be fired. I took time out of my day on my 40th birthday, because that was the first appointment available after I made an important flight reservation 8 weeks out and needed a Real ID. This gave me plenty of processing time from the 4-6 weeks that I was told it would take to receive. When taking my photo, she had me move my bangs aside. I did all the other steps needed, which took about 1.5 hours of my birthday, and received a printed temporary copy of my license. After 4 weeks of checking online status and seeing that it had not been sent to production yet, I was able to determine that my license was being held because I needed a new photo because of "hair in my face". Does no one have bangs? And my face is fully visible, but that's beside the point. NO ONE notified me of this. I did not receive an email, call, text or notice when looking up status that this was the reason for the hold up. Furthermore, the person taking the photo is supposed to know if there is an issue WHILE YOU ARE THERE, because I asked how to ensure that this doesn't happen again when I take time out of my day today (for which I don't have time) to go get another photo taken. I now may not have my Real ID in time to travel, even though I allowed ample processing time. Thanks a lot to the picture taker and to the DMV system failing miserably. read more

The biggest thing anyone should know about this DMV (and any in general): MAKE AN APPOINTMENT BEFOREHAND. It will save you so much time and headache if you schedule an appointment in advance. With my appointment, I walked into the DMV (the walk-up wait time was estimated to be 2.5 hours), checked in through the email I received, was called up to the next available window, registered my car, and was out the door in less than 10 minutes. I received a text reminder in advance, and on the morning of my appointment I received a text message with a link to check in upon arrival. There was no need to wait in line and before I took a seat my number was called. I was finished in less than five minutes. F***in' FAST! This, my friends, is as good as the DMV gets. All those years of public complaints and ruthless jabs from stand up comedians must have finally paid off. We are living in the future. I came here today to renew my driver's license. Firstly I'd like to give some background for this process: I got a letter 2 MONTHS before my license expired, so of course, I waited until a couple weeks before it expired to go "oh sh*t!" and book my appointment. Now I thought surely they'd be booked a few weeks out, this location had next day appointments available AND I could come in after work (they close at 6, not 5 like Yelp says). Fantastic! I got here a bit early, 3 minutes to be exact. I didn't stand in a single line. I didn't wait. Someone was standing inside the door to greet me and tell me to pull up my appointment number on my phone before I walked up to the window. They lovely and pleasant lady who took my picture gave me 3 tries! 3!!!! And as license photos go, it's a pretty good one, folks. Then she gave me a ticket number and before I could even find a seat my number was called - what in the alternate division of motor universe is happening here??? Another lovely, friendly lady asked for my license, gave me a quick eye test, took my signature, and processed my fee. She gave me a temporary license and I was out of there in exactly 7 minutes. 7 MINUTES?!? I've been preparing all day for this. I rescheduled my entire evening. I was ready for a fight, I brought multiple pieces of mail with me - now I've got all this time on my hands. I guess I'll go pen shopping. Or watch the sun set from the DMV parking lot, they've got a lovely view. I don't know where I'll be renewing my license in 8 years, but I hope I'm lucky enough to do it here again. 12/10 recommend. read more

This place is not bad. I've been at this location a few times in 2021 and each time I've been here, I was always out pretty quick. The longest time I've waited was 30 minutes without an appointment and the fastest time I've waited was within a few minutes of sitting down and that's with an appointment. Pretty great experience, I mean, its DMV. What more can you expect? Also I used to live in California, where it would take more than 3-4 hours just to transfer a car title or even renew a drivers license which was pretty ridiculous, I've grown to know that that's the norm for DMV in Cali, until we moved here, it was pretty quick. I usually visit this location because it is faster than the Orem location. Unfortunately, today was not the case and we were waiting for our number to be called for 45 minutes; so my daughter could take the written test for her drivers license and we ended up having to leave because we had to get my daughter to work. It would be nice to know if there were some kind of order to when your number might be called; but when they have C434, F146, B128, 999 called you have no idea on when you might be called and that makes it difficult to figure out timing. It would be nice to get some kind of idea on the wait so you don't end up wasting 45 minutes if you know ahead of time that you are the 56th person in line. I know it's a typical stereotype that the DMV is slow, but man was it frustrating and a big waste of time today. Sadly, we have to try again in a day or two...hopefully it's a better experience. read more

Best time to come is a day before a holiday. I came on Christmas Eve and no one was there. The workers mentioned they hadn't helped anyone in 20 minutes. Also, they all seemed very happy. Ok! If you're a walk-in and you don't have an appointment set, plan on waiting at least 3-5 hours. And if you're bringing little ones...don't even think about bringing them unless they're willing to wait the long unpredictable wait time without stressing. You have been warned! Haha. My 5 star rating is more towards the staff, the cleanliness, vending machines/bathrooms, wait time once you're checked in. Upon walking in, I was greeted and given information on how things worked, the new covid changes etc...checking in at the front (without an appointment) was simple. Grab an application, fill it out, take a photo and get your ticket and wait some more. I didn't mind the waiting because I'm just a walk-in. DMV's have always been crazy with walk-ins, in my many years of experiences. While sitting, I'm noticing how shiny their floor is. Then looking around I don't see a single trash. Have you ever been to Disneyland and notice how clean it is? Yeah, that's how this location was. Clean. I know it's only a DMV and not a shopping center, but still, there's always some sort of dust and trash laying around in a corner somewhere. Not here. Maybe I came in on a cleaning/sanitizing morning or time frame?! Who knows. The womens bathroom was also clean and it didn't smell like a Walmart Womens bathroom. Lol! Even though these guys are further away from me, I still book my appointments for this location. Booking appointments online is simple but they book up quick for the current week. Staff are mostly quiet but are very helpful and nice. I recommend going to this location. They have everything (DMV wise) you need all under one roof. read more

The woman who was working the information / number counter on the registration side of the DMV is just awful. I watched her change attitudes between well groomed white people, those who looked more down on their ends and PoC like night and day and she was ESPECIALLY awful to me. I noticed that the ticket she gave me was almost 40+ numbers ahead of what was shown on the screen, which would amount to a two hour or more wait. I had actually spoken to someone previously who told me that my DMV run would be quick because I just needed to drop off a paper and receive my plates. So I went back in line to inquire about this and upon asking my question she began berating me and being EXTREMELY hostile. Shocked, I asked her why she had such attitude and why she was being so mean, and upon calling her out she quickly dropped her tone .. a super jarring experience. For context, I treat everyone with kindness and never try to make anything hard for others, especially in customer service situations. I definitely did not give off any vibes for this woman to treat me and the others walking in so poorly. I am going to get her name and report her further, but I wanted to write this because it is SO important to point out people like this, especially ones that serve the state. If you are openly this judgmental and God forbid lowkey racist, seek employment elsewhere or get help. It's 2023, please wake up. read more

We recently purchased an enclosed trailer so we had to get the titled changed into our name. I was able to do the forms online then print them out which saved me time but the best part was that you can set an appointment time to go in. I set my time for a Tuesday at 9:36 am, I figured this would be perfect after dropping my toddler off and after the morning rush of traffic. Anyways, you can check in 15 minutes early online and it automatically puts you in line. I did make the mistake of checking in before I got my twin toddlers out of the car so it took me a few minutes to get inside. By the time I got inside my time had expired so I had to renter in the line but it was was than a minute before my number was called. The lady was fast and friendly. I didn't realize that I also had to register the trailer and get a new license plate so that was a little annoying but not their fault. I was in and out before my actual appointment time so less than 15 minutes total. Maybe I am just use to it taking forever with the driver's license area but I was pleasantly I had the rest of the morning free. read more

We had done the application online and set an appointment-which I highly recommend. If you don't do that, you get to fill out a paper application-which seems tedious and takes longer. I also recommend coming as early in the morning as possible. We were there around 7:30. After checking in and getting our number, we didn't even have time to sit down before we were called. The entire process lasted less than 45 minutes (that includes my son taking the written test) and then we were out of there. The folks that we interacted with were all very friendly, even jovial. I can't believe I'm writing a review of a DMV but wow. I must still be scarred from growing up in Northern Virginia, where the DMV experience can only be described as terrifying, stressful, and cruel. First of all, the SLC County DMV has a customer service phone number that literally rings through to a human being. Both times I spoke to someone on that line they were extremely kind and helpful in answering my questions. I went to this location in person twice, first to get a temporary registration and second to finish up the process of changing my car registration to Utah. Both people who waited on me were SO kind, quick, and helpful. Both trips I was there less than 15 minutes, including waiting and being at the counter (I arrive before opening on both visits). They even said, "have a nice day on my way out." WHAT?! I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone here for making a very stressful time in my life so seamless. Working at the DMV can't be very easy or fun, so I really appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of the workers at this location. read more

Don't expect them to follow written law. It's based on what employee you get and their shortcomings of knowledge. Employees are not knowledgeable in Utah laws. The employees contradict each other. Been here twice to get an issue resolved. Did exactly what the first employee told me to do. Went back, different employee said I don't have the right paperwork. Wouldn't even hear me out and explain the paperwork. Will admit though they are fast. Hence the 2nd star. read more

So embarrassed, as a parent, taking my child into this location. Our private driving company had not uploaded his record by the time we got to the front window. I called the private company and they updated it immediately. 3 minutes later I went back to the window saying my sons record was updated and he was ready for his road test. Nope! I was told that as soon as I walk away from the counter, my appt was over. Even though his record was updated minutes ago reflecting he was eligible for the drive, they told my son he had to wait 3 weeks before he could come back to take the test. Our appt was 3-3:30 and it was only 3:15 at that point. It was my sons birthday today and I am so sad for him that his first experience with the dmv was so poor. We found a private road test company within minutes of leaving. They were great! Personable, thoughtful and made my son feel so comfortable! If anyone is looking for a road test, skip the jerks at Draper and go to "Drive Right" road test in Midvale 801-943-2200. This is a family-owned business and they were so amazing to work with. Got my son in within 20min. Never had such a positive drivers experience-definitely would never find this type of customer service at Draper Drivers License Division. Trust me, $45 was a small price to pay for the convenience and care we were given. Planning to bring all my kids here and encouraging my friends to do the same. Draper you are embarrassing!! I would have given this DMV zero stars if I could! I have been there 3 times now and still do not have my drivers license. Bottom line problem... the right hand doesn't know else the left hand is doing... as they say!! I made an appointment online to get a new drivers license because I had just moved to Utah recently. I went in and did not have the documents needed. I was given a checklist of documents to bring back the next day. I went home and gathered those documents and went back the next day. upon my arrival, I was told I did not have all the documents that I needed and that I would need to go bring in one more document...My marriage certificate to prove my name change. having a star card, which requires all those documents, a failed to see the necessity, but whatever, I ran back home 20 minutes away to get it and turned around and went directly back to get there in time to take my written test. I got there in the nick of time however, I had to sit and wait for some chatting employees to decide they were ready to help me and by the time I got to them, they told me I was too late to take my test for that day. So after being there three times I was sent home again to come back another day. to say that it was upsetting, is an understatement. everyone I talked to gave me a different story of what was needed. I now have an appointment for two days from now because that was the soonest I could get in again. They clearly have the corner on the market and I can't go anywhere else so I'm stuck returning to this very unorganized, poorly run, DMV. DO BETTER!! I have spent over 2 hours In rush hour traffic! Terrible, unhelpful and RUDE!!!! I just bought a car in Utah over the weekend for my daughter. I'm a resident of Tennessee however. I asked to get the 60 day temporary permit that I read about to allow time to fix a couple minor things, drive it across country, and get it registered in Tennessee. The DMV lady "helping" me couldn't have been more RUDE and unhelpful. She said I could only get one 96 hour permit, which may or may not be true. If true shame on the state of Utah for having such foolish policies. I'm sure I'm not the only person to have ever driven a purchased car cross country to their home state. It's simply not safe to drive over 2,000 miles racing against a 96 hour clock. I asked this DMV lady if they've never run into this situation before. I asked her what my options are. She offered nothing except to get a Utah address, do emissions inspection, pay Utah sales tax and register it in Utah. ARE YOU KIDDING ME LADY???? I'm not going to temporarily become a Utah citizen to get temporary tags that will keep me legal. I bought a van in Minnesota and brought back to Tennessee recently. The local DMV in Minnesota gave me a 30 day tag right away, because they're not fools like Utah. The Utah DMV lady was rude about every question I asked all while I was being very nice and respectful. I decided to get their stupid 96 hour permit. She had me sign the permit pointing in the general area. I signed the big box she pointed to. She then looks at it and rudely said "you signed in the wrong box! I told you to sign here", but this time she actually pointed to a smaller box. I decided I'll get the title back to my Tennessee DMV and register it there before starting the drive. At least they're super helpful and nice at our local Tennessee DMV, unlike Utah. I can't wait to get back home to Tennessee!!!! read more

I came here to register my car after moving here from out of state after seeing the great reviews (even though it wasn't my closest location). Got there on a weekday afternoon around 1 or 2. The drivers license side had a line out the door but for titles and registration you could walk right up to the first attendant and she gives you a number. I waited just a little while and was helped. There's plenty of seating in a nice air conditioned waiting area. Very quick service, was in and out in less than 15 minutes. read more

I visited two different DMV's today. The one way in Farmington was just as good as this location, surprisingly. I just didn't have all of my documents that was required in order for me to transfer over my Hawaii drivers license to a Utah drivers license. Anyway, the awesome customer service that i've received from a man at this location was fantastic. His patience with me and getting me to go on about my day as fast as possible was definitely appreciated, I didn't get his name but I wish I did now. I just know that he worked at service desk #10 today. I went around 12 in the afternoon (of course) and it wasn't crowded at all until about 3pm. Overall, my experience was great and I will definitely be visiting this DMV office in the near future, I recommend this place to you!!:) read more

This is run by the government so you know it's going to be terrible. Have had multiple terrible experiences dealing with them. You schedule an appointment online. You show up with your documents. Turns out they don't accept this particular document that was issued to you by another government agency and is on their list of accepted documents. Now you have to leave and schedule another appointment. Soonest time available is in two weeks. You want to use your 15 year old son's school transcripts with his picture, address and birthdate? It's on the list. Can't use it because it's online. Website doesn't say you can't use online documents, you find that out when you get there. Go home and schedule another appointment in two weeks. Can't run home and grab something that they will accept and be back in 20 minutes because once you showed up to the appointment you had it takes your information out of the system. Have to book again. In two weeks. Gross incompetence. If this was a private business it wouldn't last a month. Since it's funded by tax dollars they can be as terrible as they want and still stay in business. read more

Employees are incredibly rude and unhelpful. They look at you with disdain when you ask a simple question. They act like they are above everyone else. It's not a crime to ask a question I don't know why they have to have such an attitude. Then I come in and I'm told that they forgot to mention that I need my passport and not just my Birth Certificate because I'm married. Now I have to come back here again for the 3rd time.
