"Form" given to me by the guard at SSA Office in Rockville, MD on October 18, 2022
    Risa B.

Heads Up: even though the hours on the SSA.GOV website says the Rockville location hours are 9a - 4p, the security guard at the door will NOT LET YOU IN after 3p. Even if you are a woman with a newborn in a stroller on a 56 day. ‍ You will be given the pictured "form," asked to fill it out, give it back to the guard and he'll take it inside for you to recieve call about an appointment.

Great experience; would rather go into the office. I'm a older person and I feel better to sit and talk face to face.(personal)

Dave and Dave, I am…read moreextremely disappointed with the level of customer service on floor 2 this morning. I came to follow up on my Covid rent relief application at 9:30am. I patiently waited and then was called on my cellphone at 9:37am to ask what it was I needed so I requested to speak with Miss Suarez Face to face. She did not call me to the emergency side (window 6) until 10:10am. And then I spoke with the gentlemen at the front desk who checks people in. He yelled at me to calm down. I wish their was a better level of respect. I have worked 17 years and am having a hard time, why do the people I have paid their salary for so long, have to have such a low level of customer service. It was abhorrent. I really hope you address this. Btw Jamal at counter 8 in the germantown location is a gem. All the germantown employees are exponentially more customer service oriented. That is why I am giving 3 stars. Please address the 1301 piccard drive 2nd floor issues. Thank you Respectfully, Anna Tedrow

Jury Duty perspective:…read more The court house opens at 7:30am regardless of what time your jury duty starts. For me orientation began at 8:30am.... didn't actually start until 9:10. I arrived to the parking lot at 7:43am and there was plenty of parking. The lot isn't huge though so if you wait until 8am or after you may not have a parking spot. With that being said the Rockville metro stop is within walking distance and is a great option. The building was pretty easy to find from the parking lot and a quick walk. Security was easy and took maybe a minute total. I didn't see any signs at security indicating where I should go but the security guard informed me to take the elevator to floor 2. Once upstairs it was obvious where to go. Once entering the jury lounge the jury commission helped me check in using a kiosk. You're able to choose if you want to donate your $15 or not. Unfortunately I was unable to donate due to my employer policy. *side note- make sure you fully understand your policy at work. Once in the lounge I recommend trying to avoid the mass crowd seating and go into the smaller room with comfortable chairs. Here you'll find outlets and the seats aren't as hard. There are computers for use location in the main room- I didn't use them but appreciate them. There was also magazines and vending machines for our use. While there's wifi it's pretty spotty with a million people trying to connect to it. I would recommend bribing a book or a movie to watch because you could be there a while.

Due to a "technical error," this office spent years trying to recoup an overpayment that did not exist, slashing my benefits to recoup the money that I supposedly owed them and forcing me through the repeated stress of appealing their decision. I cannot count how many times I called them, quite literally begging someone (anyone) to just look at my file, where they'd be able to see that I didn't owe anything. They would reinstate my benefits temporarily, usually without any formal acknowledgment, only to cut them again. This cycle continued for over five years, and I got different explanations every single time for why it was happening. Last year, I called Jamie Raskin's office in a desperate bid for help. According to the intern who followed up on my behalf, this whole thing was due to a "technical error" in SSA's system which has supposedly been fixed. But now right after that they were finally forced to concede it was their fault, not mine, I'm up for redetermination, and the nonsense has begun immediately. They have at this point completely stopped my benefits because, and I quote, "USPS failed to deliver a piece of mail to your stated address and since you're already in redetermination, your payments have been stopped until this is all sorted out." When will it be sorted out? When the stars align. Until then, my family has to make due with a $300 bank balance. Other fun experiences at this particular branch: - 3-5 hour wait times, even if you get there before the office opens. - Being refused appointments when trying to make them. - Having requests for formal, in-person case reviews completely ignored. - Magically changing paperwork deadlines (one notice will say you have until the 28th, the next will say the 24th) - A constantly-rotating door of case workers, not a single one of which has ever returned a phone call. - The time I hand-delivered our new lease to the office, asked for some proof that we brought it to them, was yelled at for wanting proof ("we're not going to lose it!") and then they lost it. Was told two years later that I failed to update my address in a timely manner and my benefits were once again cut.

Over the past several years, I've gone to the office and been turned back to fix A, B, and C. When I returned, work completed, I'd meet with someone else who would require me to go home and change D, E, and F. I think my record was 6 trips before they look at my plans on that job. 311 said this had all changed. Dominic Deyo was the first to meet with me and was super helpful. The previous day I was misinformed by 311 about one thing. I had been told that printing my plans on 8.5" by 11" paper was acceptable. Dominic showed genuine concern and understanding and then assisted me in getting them printed right then and there on the correct size paper. 2 hours later, I'd met with 3 other employees (who were also very reasonable and efficient) and I walked out with approved plans to finish a basement!!! Same day, one trip. While 311 was wrong about the size of paper I needed to bring in, the 311 person was correct about the permit office's efforts to make the process MUCH easier and FAR more efficient. It really felt like an office full of people who truly care.
