Update: Like a…read morepushover, I reapplied. They sent me a letter saying my interview would be 12/14 at 1:45pm. They, of course, in classic Mass DTA style, never called me. So just now I called THEM because I am a responsible human being. I waited on hold for 45 minutes, and then a person picked up, fuddled around with the phone a bit, and then hung up on me without saying a word. Now I've called back again, to wait another 45 minutes to talk to someone. If it was convenient to sue a government office, I would do that in a heartbeat. Instead I'll just move to Canada. Peace out, homies.

Their assistance line left a bad taste in my mouth…read more I'm thankful for this program as I'm in between jobs and would be starving without it, though the assistance line has been a horrible experience. 1.) The man that interviewed me over the phone was rude and short, tried to clarify what it is he needed but constantly cut me off telling me I'm making it harder than it needs to be. Turns out, I needed the clarification due to the fact that my documentation from my last job wasn't efficient enough for them to accept. 2.) Submitting my paperwork throughout the process was a hassle and every time I needed to contact their assistance line as they were not receiving my documents or they didn't properly enter my new job. Bi-weekly, pay stubs are provided via internet only. Explained it's bi-weekly but still get letters asking me to submit verification for week endings that I don't even receive a paycheck. 3.) On the assistance line I waited 40 minutes to talk with someone who immediately left my call on hold, answered after 15 minutes, told she needed to verify my case real quick, waiting ANOTHER 30 minutes for her to review the document only to be hung up on. The lady was rude right off the bat, short, and clearly doesnt want to be working here. The manager on duty or immediate supervisor should monitor their employees as some of them would rather not do their job. Yes, reading a book is nice but please dont put me on hold for another 45 for something that has taken others 5 minutes and please... don't hang up after 45 minutes after waiting 40 minutes. If you don't want to take my call, hang up on me right away instead of wasting my time.

Where do I even begin? It's 10:55 PM EST on a Thursday night. I'm at home, watching TV, but…read morestarting to doze off. Suddenly, I notice bright, flashing lights outside. My first thought? What in the world is happening? For a brief moment, I wondered if a spaceship had landed in my driveway and I was in some kind of dream. But then reality hit--it was the police. My heart immediately sank. A late-night visit from law enforcement is rarely good news. The first thing I did was check on my family. As I stepped outside to speak with the officer, he informed me that he had received a call from a police department in Massachusetts. That's when my heart dropped--our daughter lives there. The officers wanted to let us know they had found her wallet. While that news was concerning, I initially assumed she had just lost it. However, when I mentioned that she was flying to France the next evening for a study abroad program, it became clear just how important this was--her credit cards, ID, and everything she needed to board the plane were inside that wallet. This review is simply to say thank you to the Malden Police Department and Officer Wade, who found her wallet and was on shift until 11 PM. I also want to thank the Monongahela, Pennsylvania police officer who came to notify us. Both departments acted so quickly, and because of their swift efforts, my daughter was able to travel as planned. Thank you for what you do--you truly made a difference for our family.

DO NOT GET HELP FROM THE MALDEN POLICE. I was a recent…read morevictim and had given information to 2 policemen about a situation. The day of the trial, the notes that the court had were a LIE. I tried calling the police to update them with the CORRECT information. I called 6 times and pressed 1 for their extension, but it didn't work. I ended up having to walk 15 minutes there, with a child, to talk to someone. The supervisor on shift didn't care when I told them the issue. They didn't care that their officer LIED in court. The supervisor asked why I seemed bothered. I told him that their number didn't work, so I had to make a trip. They are suppose to be for the civilians, but they don't give a F*** to help me or even cared that they made me go out of my way because THEY F***ed up.

Dear Public Works Medford,…read more Can you please make the sidewalk open up again? Currently under the bridge on Harvard Street and Winchester Street, you cannot use the sidewalk and it's very dangerous trying to navigate this as it's difficult for cars to let you cross, let alone SEE you. This is all because of the new Green Line from the MBTA that is coming in, when will we get our sidewalk back? The one they are making us use is too narrow for wheelchairs and strollers. Thank you. I tried to call you on BOTH numbers and they are busy. SERIOULSY?! The year is 2013. Do you just keep the phones off the hook? It would also behoove whomever is in charge of your pathetic website to include the area code instead of just listing the number like this is East Podunk County circa 1986. SEVEN EIGHT ONE, right? Pretty sure you need to dial that to call you, but since no one will pick up the phone since the line is busy, I guess, this is a moot point. Maybe once someone gets killed in this area then you'll pay attention. But, I doubt it. Four years of living in Medford and the streets are still freaking mess. I've lived in Allston for eight years and have worked in Harvard Square for over a decade, you think Medford would have better streets right? WRONG. FIX THE $^*&$$&##^ SIDEWALK! Please, please, fix the damn sidewalk. You don't want me to show up at your office, believe me.

It's bad enough I live in Medford, but collecting recyclables every OTHER week, and then skipping my house 3 times = the WORST. Someone killed a cat and threw it in front of my car on Saturday night. THAT was gone on Sunday morning, but I still have 5 weeks worth of bottles and cans that are going in regular black trash bags this Sunday night, you lazy jerks! WORST DPW / CITY.
