Once inside, there is structure to make sure that all individuals are redirected to the appropriate assistance. A kiosk is the initial part of the process and then the security guards and staff are attentive. Their rules bring the upmost quality of service to all. Thank you for your organization and protocols. I came here to begin the name change process. The marriage certificate finally came in the mail, which meant I could go to the Social Security office. I was told to come to this office because it was brand new and in a good area. True enough, the building was very nice, it's next to Legends and a few doors down from Donut Man. I got there right at opening. There is a computer that you use to check-in. It prints out a slip of paper with your number. Then you take a seat in the waiting area until your number is called. If you go right at opening you don't have a long wait at all. I was in and out of the office in 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly. They didn't even take the marriage certificate from me. It was good enough that I brought it with me. She just took some info from it and then handed it back to me. I was informed that my new card with new name would be in the mail to me in a week. So I lost a social security card awhile back, and never bothered replacing it until my work demanded it. This office is so clean, quick services, got in an out within less than 20 minutes. All I did was show my identification for the replacement, and the new SS card will be mailed in 10 days. Simple! Great service, quick and easy. read more

Going to the social security office is never fun but I've been to the office in Alhambra and El Monte and this location is definitely the best in the area! The staff and security guard are friendly and although the office can get super crowded (we arrived on a Thursday morning around 10am and had to wait almost an hour and a half to be seen), at least the staff helping you out is friendly. I preface this review, I went to the Social Security Administration office at a time when I knew there would be a wait, it couldn't be helped. The office was clean with lots of seating. They have a system for signing in and then you get your number. It did take me a little over an hour but I had a book and the people next to me were sociable. My purpose for coming was resolved in about 5 minutes after I was called. The only thing that would of made it better is more parking. read more

Brought my dad here to update his address info and he needed to get a new card. We walked in and fill out the prompts on the kiosk then grab a number. We only sat about 2 mins before he was called which was awesome. I also noticed they remodeled the interior which added more windows and more seats. It wasn't crowded today when we went around 11ish. But I know from the past experiences if you get there really early there's a line to get in like the dmv unless it's changed . Only thing the employees behind the window was a little disinterested and not warm but at least wasn't rude considering it's a govt office and they deal with a lot of craziness sometimes. read more

Being a SSDI beneficiary I've had to go to the Social Security office on a few occasions. Comparing this office with the one I've used in albany New yrok and also in Florida, they are all going to have wait times. I'm seeing people complain about an hour's wait, but you've not been to other offices? I gave up on the one in Florida because when it looked like the rate they were going through numbers and how far mine was we left, had lunch and came back and still waited an hour and a half. I went to the West Covina office here which is standing on a line to find out that they are not a full service office and got referred to Glendora. Appointments will cut your wait time and you can set up an appointment by calling the toll-free national number. I often wonder e if the security guard was necessary, this is just a Social Security office, but I figured some people might become irate and he'll deal with them. He's been helpful to me, but then again I'm blind so people tend to want to be helpful regardless of how little I might need help. Anyway, I've neveer had any problems with these guys they have always taken care of what I came for and at times even fix problems that they might have noticed. SSA has over 50 million beneficiaries and dealing with cutbacks, so I cut them some slack since it's not those individual's fault. read more

Arrived 15 min after opening on a Thursday, was finished in about 45 minutes. You sign in at a computer and are given a number, and then like the DMV there are screens to tell you which number they're at. Workers were kind and efficient. Plenty of indoor seating. read more

This place is horrible wait time is ridiculous they have a screen to update numbers sort of like the dmv but don't use it so you have to pay attention to when they call numbers & even when they do call numbers you can't understand what they're saying. They don't give all the information you need to not have to come back several times. I went to this office today, to restore my maiden name, and submit a request for a replacement card. I stood in line before the doors opened for 30 minutes. Doors opened at 9am. I used the self-service kiosk to check in, did not have a chance to sit before my number was called. The clerk was uber friendly, and I was out the door by 9:12am (including a restroom trip!). Came her a year ago to get a new social since I had gotten married. That time I was in at 9:00 out by 9:10. Today I came at 8:50 and there is a line with over 35 outside the building! Since when did this place become like the DMV? It's now 9:45 and there is still a couple of people ahead of me! So dissatisfied with my visit today. I finally got helped at 10:05! It's sad that a service business employs people that are rude and obviously hate their jobs. When I treat people with respect I expect the same in return, not at this office. The guards, as they call themselves, stand at the front door and rudely talk about the patrons in this establishment and are rude and put out when asked a question. These two guys need to find other jobs or have some serious people skills' training. This is the worst place to get help for my son's SSI, we like to stop SSI payment that they claimed we need to pay them, but we explained that we like to stop the payment but they making it so difficult, since I'm unemployed now and can't afford to pay them back. Well, I had a horrible experience here. The security guard, in my opinion is a complete goon. I was able to get my business done here quickly, to get a replacement social security card, but the security guard threw me on the ground for taking a photo of a sign that was funny and I intended to post on Facebook. Anyone remember the George Takei ad campaign? Apparently someone took a photo of the office and posted it here on Yelp without getting thrown to the ground, so I'd like to know what gives???? Arrived here at about 1:45pm on a friday 11/13. The security guard was very helpful, said I needed to check the kiosk and get a number from it, and then ask someone behind the desk for a application. I explained that I was there to get a replacement card for my son. They called my number to check in, gathered information. Saw that I had his birth certificate, knew I was gettig a replacement card for him, he's a minor. I waited a hour, and they called my number. I was told that I needed his ID or health insurance card, not his birth certificate. I wasn't too happy because I wasn't told this prior, and it was a waste of time. I'm sure its not up to the guard to do the employees job, but when I checked in, I should have been told that what I had, was not sufficient. Lack of communication caused my frustration. I'll be back with the proper credentials. Also there is a sign in english and spanish of rules in the office. No photos. (I say this due to another yelp review for this office.) read more

I went out there armed with ALL of the documents the website said I needed to get my deceased husband's earning statements. I was told I couldn't get them because that information was "confidential". I pointed out that he was deceased and I was his widow - all documented. After a call to my federal representative's office, I went back out only to get the wrong info. This place is not like the DMV. Wife and I came here to handle some stuff and we left the place in amazement in how efficient and nice the whole ordeal was. We thought the experience would be a hassle, including ridiculous wait times (no appointment) and cold personnel, but we were always met with friendly faces and our wait time was surprisingly short. Our issues were handled professionally and the person we were assigned to was very nice and took the time to fully inform us on our next steps that were going to take place somewhere else. I've been in here several times, and the staff is competent and pleasant to work with. Unless you are at the end of the line when the doors open at 9:00 am the wait times are reasonable. The DMV could learn a few lessons about customer service from the people at this office. Parking can be ifffy. There are times the lot is full and there is no place to park. DO NOT park in the Legends Diner lot next door, THEY WILL HAVE YOU TOWED and it will cost over $200 (the impound fee) to get your car back. Access is from westbound Route 66 only, if you are eastbound you will have to go past it and make a U-turn. Cellphone use inside is a no-no. The security guard is quite good at giving you the evil eye. If your phone rings on an incoming call just show your call number to the person sitting next to you and ask them to holler out that you are outside on the phone if they call your number, then step outside and handle your call QUICKLY - tell them you'll call them back. This makes everybody happy. Note that they close at noon on Wednesdays (it's their paperwork catch-up day), otherwise it's 9 am to 3 pm. And don't worry, if you are inside when they close the door at 3PM they will take care of you (you won't have to come back the next day). read more

The staff is very well organized, the representative who helped my Mom ( Ms. Mayo) was very helpful, efficient and polite. The waiting time was very reasonable. Wonderful office - very clean and quick service. However, I just had the most infuriating interaction with one of the agents at the pre-screening window. I have a error in my Social Security records (my birthday is listed incorrectly by one day). I went online and completed the form to correct the error and took it to the Glendora office with my passport which is listed in the instructions as an acceptable form of documentation to submit with the form to have the record corrected. Not only would the agent not accept my passport (he insisted that I must have a copy of my hospital birth record), he also informed me that "I couldn't just march in here with any old identification and expect them to change my records" - he continued to lecture me about how important it is to have correct records. I was so insulted and very angry to be treated in such a manner by a civil servant. This agent needs to be counseled on the procedures and also on quality customer service. read more

Second try...first time waited an hour and left hoping to make an appointment next time. Come to find out changing your name due to a marriage won't allow appointments. Got here on Monday at 840am, 30 people outside in line already. Now 10am and still waiting for my number to be called. Not sure in what order they are calling theses numbers but I am noticing people who got here after me have already been helped and went on with their day. Not sure why they made this location so small (3 Windows/2 check in Windows) with the foot traffic they have coming through here. 1st time here the security officer was a complete douche bag. Reading his novel at his desk was more important than helping me with my question. Today he seems in a better mood. If u want to get out sooner I suggest getting here No later than 830am. Worst office I have ever had the misfortune to walk into! The supervisor is rude lazy and all around useless! You would think it was his money. I asked for some of my back pay and that office made it as hard on me as they could. Bring in this and that only to find out it isn't good enough. When you finally can't take anymore and tell them what you think of the horrible service they call the federal police on you. I am ban from any social security office! I remember when this used to be America!! No body in there even bothers to try and speak English ! The man in charge of the office runs around trying to look busy so when you asked to speak to him he is always unavailable. The worst part is they changed the reason the judge granted my benefits so they could give me less money !! Then for some unknown reason they they took a picture of a truck similar to the one I was driving and told police I was changing license plates !!! Thank god they were to stupid to find the same truck ! The truck they said I was changing plates on was the same make and color but the doors were completely different and open different than the one I used !
