I went by the office to drop paperwork off. Just a heads up on where the office actually is. The office is on the left hand side of the Goodwill store. It's on the actual side of the building, not towards the front. I parked towards the back and there weren't any empty parking spaces but someone was leaving just as I pulled in. The office is on the second floor and they have stairs and an elevator. I didn't know if they actually had a drop box to drop off paperwork. The security guard screens people coming in. He was extremely helpful in directing me to the drop box and what to do to drop off the paperwork. They have largish envelopes where you write your SS#, name and contact information on before putting your document in it and sealing the envelope before putting it in the drop box. It was quick and easy to drop off the paperwork. read more

One of the most amazing and grateful experience among my various social office visits!! Thank you Ms. Bollier for your kindness and willingness to help us. I came here for my parents' matter, and this visit was with appointment. We were greeted by security officers and directed to sign up at the kiosk. We were expecting longer wait time but both of parents number got called sooner than we expected. Nice!! This is only beginning!! I got to the window and met this super kind and helpful social officer named Ms. Bollier. She greeted us with smile and asked us what we are here for. My parents do not speak Enlglish so I was translating between them. She didn't rush and patiently listened and answered all the questions we had. After that, she processed both of my parents matters quickly but carefully by explaining important details to us. She went our of her way to help us with our needs. Thank you very much!!! read more

Idk why the US government has stuck to the 80's decor and time seems to have stopped since then at all branches of the US government. This social security office is no exception. The only thing that surprised me was that it was in a typical strip mall next to Goodwill, Dollar Tree and Big O' Tires. We used to have a nice social security branch right by the Costco in City of Industry in a plaza with professional offices. But now I'm forced to drive out to West Covina just to get to them. I came here to update my records. I don't understand how in 2018 this couldn't be done online. I tried calling the 800 hotline and the response I got was there's no agents to assist you at the moment pls try calling again some other time. This is within their stated office hours on the website. It seems like it's deja vu all over again with my recent disappointment with the Post Office. Simply the staff here thinks I'm eating government cheese so I'm basically above the law I guess. There's no rewards for being helpful or even faking nice. I guess they get paid okay salaries but if I were them and hated coming to my job. I'd just quit and go seek elsewhere. I got in at 12:55pm on a Thursday and it's now 1:39pm and a long time since I filled out the appropriate forms. Just patiently waiting per their instruction for my # to be called. ...it is a necessary evil citizens have to deal with to attempt to obtain information and determine benefits. i have never been treated more disrespectfully. The attitudes of most of the employees who "hide" behind the phone to treat customers with a modicum of respect, courtesy or even accurate information is appalling. They hate their jobs and they hate their customers. There is NO accountability whatsoever. The employees won't identify themselves so they can treat you anyway they want to and you are the only one that suffers. There is a complaint line and yet you have NO information as to who you are speaking with on the phone. It is absolutely unbelievable that our tax dollars go towards employees that at best act like robots, do nothing to shield that they are annoyed and want to hang up and deliver inaccurate information. I AM SO FED UP WITH MY EXPERIENCE THAT I THINK THE ENTIRE SERVICE END OF THE OPERATION NEEDS AN OVERHAUL. read more

Been to this location a few times, today we are here the first time without an appointment. Mainly because there's no way to make an appointment online unless you get a letter in the mail indicating your appointment time and date. Otherwise, you have to wait in line. You first check in with the kiosk, then check-in again at the counter. There are totally of two check-in counters. You then wait in the waiting area until your name and number is called. Pretty standard and basic procedure. We got our ticket at 2:10pm and we're done by 3:58pm. The whole wait was about 1.5hrs and the process itself is around 30 mins. Which isn't too bad considering we were walk-ins. Two security officers were around and one lobby staff. The taller Caucasian guy was super nice, considerate, and friendly. I saw that he offered the lady behind me to have a seat because she was having a difficult time standing. Very sweet of him. read more

Definitely not your typical review but the efficiency of this place is making me write a review. I made the decision to go in person and have an issue corrected and boy is this place fast. I walked in and waited in line right at 9:00am and I kid you not, I was out at 9:18. Everyone dreads going to government offices but I am in shock with how quickly I was able to get in and get out. Paper work is all squared away and I hope I don't have to come back for a long time. Minus 1 star for the mistake made on my original forms which was completely not my fault. Avoid calling the 1 (800) number as you will be on hold for MANY hours. I had to ask a family member of mine to drive to the WC office for me to get the direct number as I couldn't find it anywhere online. After just a few minutes of being on hold, I was able to speak to Mr. Urquieta who was really helpful and answered all my questions and concerns. Thank you Mr. Urquieta. Every time I speak to someone who is operating from home, they treat my patient so poorly. This offices employees focus mostly on not allowing you to either proceed or making sure to tell you long windedly on why you can't proceed and have to just go online and mail In a form instead. My patient is bedbound and in a condition where she can't speak for herself but is emancipated from her own family. They never allow her to speak and constantly move straight to telling me that they don't know why I am calling, begin to tell me all the rules and literally hang up on me. I have her on speaker phone with the patient right next to me and she even speaks out loud as best as she can ti answer any questions. Already I've spent my whole day today getting nowhere with these agents who specifically are making sure she doesn't address her ssi benefits getting cut off. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS SAY HI MAAM. And they are refusing to speak to her. One agent right now FINALLY calmed down thinking I was a scammer and asked her her info and she finally got us to begin addressing our issue but then she hung up!! It's been 3 months we've been trying to get through and leave messages with no call back. There are marginalized ppl that need a little more patience for their needs and these employees so far have shown no regard for the possibility that maybe the person on the other side of the phone isn't as able bodied. This lady had the nerve to ask me her medical diagnosis as to why she isn't calling. How are nurses supposed to call on behalf of their patients when your rules state that I have to be a payee or husband. This lady asked if I was her husband. I'm so frustrated with the way my patient has been treated, it's like she's been forgotten and cast aside from the world and even when the ssi office decides to mishandle information and cut her off, they don't even begin to care about fixing it. read more

Sad building with an even sadder parking lot. You know the drill. Empty spaces tow signs if you even look at them...you're in trouble. Seeing everyone trying to find parking. Already frustrated coming out of the parking lot. Then you get 2 or 3 peeps behind the counter while hundreds of people waiting. No appointments but like the DMV if you're there at 2am there would still be a long line. It would be better just doing everything online. There are clear signs in the parking lot directly you to the entrance of the building. SS is located on the 2nd floor. I went in right at 12PM on a Thursday and it was fairly empty. The security guard told me to check-in at a kiosk. Once you enter your info, the machine tells you to take a seat but the guard said to wait in line for the woman in Window 2. I'm guessing they only do this when it's not busy because after 12, it started to get crowded and the guard told everyone in line to take a seat. At Window 2, the woman checked to make sure I had all the necessary paperwork, then I had a seat. It was a 30 minutes wait from the time I walked in to the time that my number and name got called. Then, it took 20 minutes at the window before I left. read more

First and foremost I didn't think a government office was on Yelp but since we are here let's review. The gentleman who answered my initial call seemed pleasant enough, thick accent, friendly and then things got weird... He asked if I was in the military (Nope), asked if he knew me from somewhere (Nope) , asked about my personal business and proceeded to discuss his hardships( Why?). He followed up with knowing the difference in submitting paperwork and said he would mail the application to me. Never arrived. Next call came from Mrs. Chirinos, sorry lady you are rude and over explain as if each step needs to be poorly described. My parents came here twice and the twice they have been here people they spoke to have been extremely rude. My parents are seniors in their 70's and this is how they treat our elderly? They were in line for a long time and once they were able to speak to someone, they don't even give them the time of day. If they no longer want to work there and serve the community leave your job because someone else will be willing to take it in a heart beat. I wish I can give them zero stars. I hope this comment is taken seriously and encourage those people who work there take sensitivity classes. If not, fake it til you make it or have some compassion. The dreaded office visit! dun dun dun. Most of the time its our attitude that determines how our visit is. ** make sure to look online before to see what paperwork you will need. You don't want to be turned away after a wait I went on a wednesday (its open 9-12pm only) I got there about 1030a. The entrance is on the side of the dollar tree building. you can take the stairs or elevator. once you get up there is a roped waiting line to get in. It was maybe 10-15 mins of a wait, didn't seem long but i wasn't counting. once you get to the door, they have you visit a kiosk to start your process of what you are there for. then a short wait to the first window. I was there to get a copy of a daughters ss card. Gave the women my info and proof of birth etc at the first window. She was nice enough but I'm sure if you came with the wrong attitude at her, she would have one too. She had to check with her boss that if my paperwork was acceptable for proof of my child. Luckily it was fine and she didn't turn me away. After checking in, there is another wait until another clerk is available to finish my paperwork. The sitting area was rows of seats of about 3 or 4. The chairs were comfortable and clean and i didn't feel too crowded. The ac was at a good temperature. Its a quiet wait except for a few rude people making phone calls, most were just playing on their phones. There is about 20 windows but i don't think all were staffed. The wait wasn't too bad, i think another 20, but i kept myself occupied until my number was called. The clerk that called me was the typical type that wasn't addressing me and kept chatting to her co worker at the next window. She might have said hi to me but I'm not sure. That was annoying to hear whatever convo she was having about weight loss or something. Even though she didn't take to me she was was typing away and printing my receipt. She had me check over my info and that was about it. It didn't take long at her window either and i was shortly on my way out. I think i was in and out in about an hour. Not bad at all. read more

You walk in and have to do check-in in a machine. After the machine give you a ticket with your number, you walk through a line and you will be greeted at a window, where they check if you have all your paperwork. I came here to get a SSN for my 7 month old baby. Lady at the window said she needed birth certificate and immunization card, which we showed to her. Then, we proceeded to wait 2 hours to be, finally, called to a window. The clerk at the window says he cannot accept our immunization card as is. It has to be photocopied and signed by the hospital or doctor. He also said the first window do the roeescreening, but dont know what the heck, so thats why the lady said our immunization card was ok. REALLY?? Thanks for the wait! read more

Everyone here is super duper nice and friendly. Yes, even for a government office (hehe). I recommend coming early, as the place does get busy. We showed up an hour early with about 2 people in line.. all in all we got in and out of the place 45 minutes after they opened. First time at a SS office but pleased with the visit. My mom changed her address so she had to notify them of this. Suddenly she gets a letter from the Berkeley office telling her to report for an appointment by January 12 at 9 am. I told my mom, no way that's all the way up north and it's a six hour drive one way. My sister took her to this West Covina office on January 5 to get her problem straightened out. She was "helped" by the employee named Julianna who said not to worry she will receive a letter in the mail in 5-10 business days. My mom was anxiously waiting and on the 9th business day she got another letter, still from the Berkeley office reminding her of the importance to keep her appointment. Wtf? Did this Julianna really do something about my mom's case or what? So on my day off I finally drove my mom early in the morning (she didn't have appointment as it was so hard to get through the phone) that she was first in line. She was done by 9:15. This time everything was settled. No more annoying letters telling her to go up to the SS office in Berkeley. Would've been a 4 star review if they got it it right the first time. read more

Horrible experience. My mom went in today to apply for SS benefits. She came home crying because PHIL was rude, unkind and no sense of people skills.... Very inconsiderate. My mom is a cancer survivor but dealing with the aftermath of Chemo and radiation. My mom can no long work with her right arm swelling up to the point where she can't even make a fist due to the intense swelling. Physical therapy hasn't been a big help, it's something she has to deal with for the rest of her life. When my mom comes home from work her arm is swollen and in pain, there's no cure since they removed her lymph nodes. PHIL decides to say her condition isn't severe and there's people worse, it'll be a waste of his time to submit the application. How is it that people can be so cruel and assume they know the full condition without the application and Drs records being reviewed. I'm beyond disappointed and upset with how PHIL treated my mom. My mom wasn't able to apply. read more

Made an appointment and visited on February 8 at 1pm. The lady who helped us, she was really nice and helpful.

I arrived at 8 and there was 7 ahead of me. They let us inside at 8:40 , official doors opened at 9 am. The thin lady helping looks frantic lol but I can see why. So many people . I did registration and was called 30 minutes later. The process took about 15 minutes lady. The lady security guard is kind of mean but in reality she's just trying to keep chaos from forming. I HAD Too being my 2.5 year old so I'm sure that was irritating to her lol oh well! read more

If you can avoid being in contact with this office, then please avoid it for your own benefit. They tried to trick me into thinking I couldn't contact anyone above them for a complaint on discrimination, and extreme rude comments made by a man in regards to my son's ssi. I tweeted the social security administration and got way more information to handle this, so I look forward to taking care of it. That being said, avoid this location if you don't want to be put into a position where you feel like you NEED to make a complaint because of how angry you are with them. read more

I recently helped my mom apply for SSI and received the interview call from this office. The social worker who helped us was Armando, and he was very communicative and patient with us. At the end of the phone interview, he provided us with an appointment to come in the next day. It was our first visit at the office, but thanks to Armando's instructions, our visit was as efficient as could be. We met him in person, and he helped us with documentation and was very transparent about the whole process. He was also respectful, kind, and answered all our questions.
