Ok, to start with, let's be honest this is a government office and as in most cases nothing happens fast. My experience and my advice. Get there early!!! Don't come late!!! Book a predetermined appointment time Restrooms are quiet. Security keeps things in line relative to help, order, and quietness. You will be seen in order based on why you're there, not, who got there first. The lobby ( holding area ) is clean and organized. Parking is adequate. The people there are helpful and knowledgeable. ( yes, I know you want to talk on your phone or play loud games. Or talk loud, but it echoes in there - be respectful). All in all, it was a dull life sucking experience, but that was to be expected. Better than going to downtown Houston for sure. Find a new friend and chat to pass the time. Or, brush up on your Spanish. read more

Came in for a replacement card, I was in and out so quickly. There was lots of people in there so I had a little anxiety at first. They call numbers in a very funky way here you could be number 100 and they will end up calling 120 through 230 before they call you the fact that security here was nice but just like every other government ran facility read more

If you are doing ANY type of replacement card (name change, address, etc) you MUST have an appointment. They will not accept walk ins even if the agent is available. read more

READ THIS AND SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF STRESS!! Okay, first of all, I have been to this office several times just so you know. You CANNOT make an appointment to get your social security card replaced. It is a 'walk-in' service. Appointments are given to individuals that are going through the SSI/DISABILITY process and are given out by the office only. If you DO NOT HAVE AN APPT. AND NEED TO GO THERE..Be there when they open at 9:00AM or sooner! If you arrive BEFORE they open and there is a line of people out front waiting to go in..GO TO THE FRONT DOOR FIRST and you will see a piece of paper with a QR Code that you can scan and it will allow you to check in online so you don't have to stand in line at the kiosk once inside. Once you scan that QR code, it will take you to their check in process and will proceed to ask you why you are there so that they know what you are needing help with. So that you understand, it doesn't matter if there are 30 people in line. Most of those people have no idea about that QR code on the front door and you can scan it and it puts you in the roll call inside. SS goes by check in order based on why you are there (walk-ins) So different agents in the building will call numbers out of order because they will have certain customer service reps doing certain things typically. Again, based on WHY you are there. You may notice that you were in line first but someone BEHIND you was called before you...that is typically because they had an appointment. I have seen people walk in AFTER I had checked in and they were called BEFORE me. This is due to them having a scheduled appointment. That is much different then a 'walk in'. Yes, there are bathrooms and NO...THIS OFFICE DOES NOT ALLOW FOOD OR DRINKS in their building. That is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!! Be prepared for that but once you get checked-in...you CAN go back to your car for a drink or whatever you need because they TEXT YOUR PHONE when it is your turn. They do give you a few minutes to get to them but not long. So please be aware of these things and it will help make your visit a bit easier. ALSO, if you go in the afternoon...BE PREPARED TO SIT AND WAIT if you don't have an appointment. Take some food and drink and leave it in your car if you cannot go long without it. At least you can go back and forth but if you leave your seat and that place is packed...you can lose your seat unless the person sitting next to you is willing to guard your seat for you! Every time I have delt with these people in this SSA office , has been very rude to me, and one person working there has apologized several times for them being rude and acting like they were very prejudice toward me, and have lied to my face several times, even when I asked to speaking to a supervisor, I was advised to contact the SSA on line and not go to this office because they act as if I was asking for assistance, and treating me like I don't belong in there. I had an appointment out of the Conroe office and they were supposed to call me today and so they give you an appointment over the phone and then you're supposed to wait till I started waiting a 30 minutes prior and the call never came. So then I put the phone down. We got something to eat sat down. He had called twice to hours and 15 minutes after he's supposed to initially call so I thought he was gonna call back again. he did not and so then I called to find out what happened because I was there. That's their fault if they were late and the lady on the phone told me that I have to wait all the way to December 5 it's not fair because I've been waiting all day by the time. The second lady called it was nearly 3 o'clock and they waste my time all this time and all she could say is she was sorry the earliest time was December 5 and I am not even guaranteed they're gonna call me correctly at the time. She then told me that it's an hour an hour after the initial call time today I waited two hours and 15 minutes and that's when they called. It's not fair and I don't understand the stress level that they're putting me through and there's nobody accountable and it's not fair. It's just not fair to do somebody like that. Went on Monday July 1st 2024 . I only needed a copy of my Social Security Card right away and the next available appointment was in August which was too far away . I printed the application online and had it filled out before I got to the window which made the process even faster . I Got there by 7:45 AM . Four other cars were already there . I got in line by 8am I was the 5th person in line . Bring a chair , umbrella , hat and or fan it gets very hot and they don't open until 9AM . By 8:45 AM there were at least 40 people behind me . As soon as you get there go to the door . On the door there is a QR code on the far right side that you must scan to check in . I tried scanning it when I got there , but my phone kept saying I didn't have the right Browser . When the security guard Mr Johnson came out he let everyone know if you have a knife , or any form of weapon you are not allowed in . No bottled waters are allowed in . You are to put your phone on silent . If you want to talk on your phone go outside . If you are talking loud inside or if you're watching something on your phone and it's loud you will be escorted out . Don't play with Mr Johnson . To me he's just a big teddy bear tho . Then he said those who scanned the QR code on the door and checked in may go in first . The 4 elderly ladies in front of me and I myself was very upset about that . So about 25 people that showed up way after us got in first . Fortunately Mr Johnson was nice enough to let us in . For me the process was very organized and fast . Most of the reviews I read were negative , but if you just be quiet and pay attention you'll get in and out faster . Got to the office by about 8:30 a.m. The office opened at 9:00 but we were allowed in about 10 minutes early to register. Very organized, very helpful, back on my home about 9:30. And my issue was a bit more complicated than most. Hopefully this visit will resolve my issue. My suggestion is to get to the office half hour before open time and make sure you have everything - paperwork, identification, forms - you might possibly need. read more

This place is a complete shit show. It's incredibly unorganized and the people that work here are grouchy and rude. We had a great time outside waiting in line and everyone was in a good mood. Then the minute they opened the doors a guy started yelling at us. We get inside and they're yelling at us. I was the 6th person in line but still waited over an hour inside while people after me came and went. When he did call my name he called my old name over the intercom. Which is an incredible breech of privacy. I don't want all those people knowing my name. Why the hell do you use numbers if you're going to call names? Then he refused to take my certified copy of my divorce decree even though they took it to get my passport and drivers license. It's like they're the red headed step child of the government and just trying to flex on the people to make themselves feel better. Real small dick energy you got going on SS office. Making me wait for over 2 hours and then shitting on my vibe. I hope someone sacrifices your children to Satan. read more

My visit was ok. Wait was not too long. The guard answering the door is a bit rough. He just opened door and asked me if I had pepper spray, a knife or a gun in my purse. That's all he said. And then he announced loudly (while taking his mask off) the correct manner we should all wear our masks. Why do we need to have masks on anyway. Everyone was awesome. There were dozens of customers waiting to be served so it took awhile, but they did everything they could to move things along. We got there after 9am and were out before noon, First we were checked in. That lady was very helpful. Then we waited to get someone who could actually solve our problem, which was the computer could set up an online account for me. Jeff Mott helped us and he was a delight. Friendly and really knew what he was doing. Not to disagree with Annalisa, but the security guard politely asked everyone to keep their voices down so others could hear when their names and numbers were called. He wasn't rude and he never told anyone to shut up. This office did a wonderful job of handling a large number of people in a timely manner. And they were really nice about it. read more

Update! So, I went around lunch. The wait time was 50 minutes for me, and I was getting a replacement SS card. Parking was a little more full. Besides announcing on an overhead speaker your ticket number and window to go to, there's a mounted TV with your number. The security officer was rude and basically told everyone to shut up, so people could hear the numbers being called. Whoever was talking on the phone had to step outside. I mean, there were probably about 100 people inside. Even if everyone whispered, it'd be loud. People were even afraid to let their baby/ child cry. The parent kept telling their child to hush. The AC system is just as loud. So you kinda missed/didn't hear your number..big deal. There are nicer ways to go about helping or redirecting someone where to go. They do re-page your number. I even heard the guy sitting across from me that he had been here before, and the security officer was still a jerk. Anyway, I had all my documents ready and handed everything over all at once. I was waaaaay over my lunch break. I briefly explained my situation. He processed it in 5 minutes. Super quick. Would I come back here if I ever needed to? Probably cause it's the closest to me. I recommend coming 30 mins to an hour before closing. Less people, and they'll stay till your paperwork is processed as long as it's before closing time. read more

If I could give no stars I would. This is the WORST social security office I've ever dealt with and my son with social needs has been on SSI for 15 years. I can't even begin to tell all the horror stories... One of which being that we waited for an hour before they opened to talk to someone about their mistake and got turned away because "the lady in charge of the case" wasn't there and was the only one that could help. And if you get Mr Smith as a case worker...forget it. He won't call you call or answer his phone and he'll have your benefits cut off for not calling him when requested ‍. what a CF the entire SS operation - there are so many issues with the system - but is expected from a government run organization. Bad website - bad links - bad customer service - on and on. Here are a few items - 1) this office routes you to the National - 2) they say to set an appointment - where is that info. - 3) the have a feedback page with no forms (I guess thats because they do not want here it) - 4) you get caught up in their cue and get disconnected and start all over again 5) I was hung up on by an individual in St Paul office - they keep sending mail to me from there - I kept asking the guy the same question and got an answer every time - I told him I needed to understand what he was saying so that I get it right - I explained I am dyslexic and need to insure of what I was hearing - thats when he hung up. (my tax paying dollars going to good use I see) - I can go on but I would be in the hundreds - So disgusted with this and the whole Medicare service and support.
