BRKTHROUGH was such a fun experience for our group of nine!…read more There have been a handful of similar entertainment centers popping up across the Valley lately, where you jump into rooms that each have different puzzles, games, or escape-style rooms. Each has its own merits, and Brkthrough really stands out in a handful of ways. - Team-based: I love that you rack up points as a team and can see everyone's scores live! In a bigger group, it makes it feel like you're competing with your friends even if though you have to be split into groups if 2-4 people. - Score limits: There's a bit of a strategy to racking up the most points. You can earn up to 100 points each room, which means you can either replay games to improve your score or try to play as many different games as possible. (Some rooms are easier to score in than others though) - Room wait times: Fantastic. We had virtually no wait at any room ever. There were 40 rooms (massive) with only a few closed so it never felt overbooked. - Immersion: The set design is pretty phenomenal, making you feel dizzy on a train, dropped into a navy ship, or placed in a ball pit. - Cost: Currently runs about $30/person for a two hour session, making it the most affordable of the three quick-play room style centers. Quick entry into rooms also made it feel like we had plenty of time! Some rooms were hard to understand, though there are hints in the hallway or you can ask an employee for help. The bar is a nice touch too. I like that even escape room-style games will slightly change (ex: with different quiz answers) so you can still have fun if you return.

In some cases I felt like I was hovering or something and didn't know where to put my feet at. Absolute riot. Course was decent. Not overtly hard - good for my 6yo and 8yo. There was one hole about 2/3 of the way through that was basically impossible. Got a military discount too. After we finished the girl at the counter asked if we wanted some free tokens for the arcade. I don't know if that is standard or she just felt bad for me and having my kids go nuclear multiple times while there. It gave the kids plenty to look at and kept things entertaining as they made their way through the course. My only real downside was the size. Some people are dealing with tremendous grief, trauma, anger, stress, or the loss of someone they love, and an experience like this can provide a much-needed emotional release. Unfortunately, I felt the customer service and overall experience were lacking. The check-in process could definitely be more organized and welcoming, and there was very little effort made afterward to ask whether we enjoyed ourselves or had a good experience. Even though the business is centered around breaking things, basic kindness, enthusiasm, and customer service still matter. I also learned that many of the items being broken are used items that have been donated or obtained from thrift stores. What concerned me most was being told by an employee that staff members sometimes pick through donated items and select things they want for themselves before the items make it onto the floor. I obviously cannot speak to the company's policies regarding donated merchandise, but hearing that made me uncomfortable and raised questions for me about how donations are handled. There is a lot of potential here, and the actual idea behind this business is great. I simply think management could significantly improve the experience by focusing more on customer service, creating a warmer and more compassionate environment, and making sure donated items are handled transparently and appropriately. For some customers, this isn't simply about smashing a television or breaking a plate. It may be an outlet for something incredibly painful they're carrying. A little compassion and genuine human interaction could turn this from simply a place where people break things into an experience that actually helps people leave feeling a little lighter.
