I came to Social Apparel, but Apparely it's a little out of my price range. Oh well. This is for prom dresses and other functional stuff like that and it's expensive but you expect it to be for those types of things. They do a good job, and they're professional, but as you can see they have some customer service issues - usually after the fact. I haven't personally had the negative side of them but just for the price alone I'll keep them short of the five that I'm sure some people would give them. read more

Definitely my go-to place for a nice outfit for an upcoming social event. I've managed to get something to wear for a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, and other various activities. You will have to be patient and dig a bit in order to find something that you're interested in. I love the fact that you're able to try on items in the store. This was my second time visiting this store. I love this part of town and I'm there a lot so I really don't know how I missed it all those other times. The boutique seems regular size until you walk in and down to the back where most of the formal gowns are displayed. Rows and rows of every girly-girl's fantasy. They carry quite a wide selection of them. If you're getting ready for prom, or about to visit with the Queen or dressing for maid to the bride duties, you sbould pay here a visit. They also sell trendy, funky pieces which I noticed were more on the small size. I cannot be sure because I havent tried anything on as yet. Their accessories include evening and day purses, diamante earings, bracelets and necklaces. They also stock a small sexy selection of ladies undergarments. Bring your mister or partner, there are seats at the back for them to sit while they enjoy your fashion show. What I especially like is their clothes though good quality (from my feeling and tugging yes sometimes I do that), are on the affordable end of the scale. Social Apparel is such a fitting name with regards to the cothes. However the young ladies at the counter were not as social. Great store for prom dresses. The girls have a lot of patience. I was going to give this place 4 stars but honestly the experience was great. No wine or champagne. For prom n graduation it's a great place. I will say that you should get the item number and check the prices online before paying. One of the dresses I purchased for my daughter had a tag of $350 however online it was $309. So I brought it to the Asian woman's attention and she matched the price. Dress arrived a week before time. Oh the next thing is that they DO NOT ALTER ANY DRESSES. SO make sure you order in time. read more

Here we go with another day of shopping. I went to return an item I bought months ago, granted it's been 4 months. I go to return and Tania M. says she can't take the item back or give me store credit. The item has never been worn, torn, ripped or stain. She goes on to tell me that item is now on the sales rack. I explained to her that my cousin was murdered by her own boyfriend and I couldn't make it to the store. After telling her this I was nearly in tears and upset to the point i left the item on the counter and walked out. I then turned around and asked her for corporate # and address she gave me the email address and told me she couldn't give out corporate address so here I go on yelp ranting about social apparel and their "Tania" terrible customer service. read more

All I can say is Thanks so much to this place!!! Ina was such a doll. After having a disastrous experience ordering my daughter's prom dress online and looking for dresses in queens, long island and the Bronx with not so nice sales ppl I came here and these ladies were amazing. We only had today to shop, prom being next week. Ina was honest, helpful and super sweet.. She helped my daughter fit into the dresses (we tried quite a few) & then she was honest with her about which one made her look the best as far as her figure. She didn't care which dress was more expensive or anything. In fact, I think we wound up getting the cheaper one.. She then helped my daughter pick out a clutch, and all the accessories and shoes. I was too thrilled to get everything all at one store and I was happy that she made my daughter happy, she got a few smiles out of her and made her feel much more confident. She even suggested a hair style that my daughter should have done. I will definitely take a ride back over there just to show her the pics once the look is put together. Or perhaps I'll just update this review with pics and have her take a look here. Thanks so much again, Ina!!!! Shop at your risk. I used to love shopping here but the last time I came in, I bought a white dress that was made of cheap fabric, tore easily, and was see through so all my underwear was showing. When I went in to the store again to give them another chance, the woman at the counter gave me a lame excuse to why I couldn't try on their white dresses anymore "white dresses get dirty." Well, other stores never make up excuses like that. I was surprised and explained to her I actually previously bought a white dress from their store and had issues with it that's why I would rather try it on before buying it. She was adamant about not letting me try on the dress and said I could buy it (without trying it on) and if I didn't like it, could exchange it for another one instead. Poor business decision! I'm not going to a store where I have to risk buying a dress before trying it on. read more

If your shopping for a dress, DO NOT SHOP AT SOCIAL APPAREL in the Palisades Mall, in West Nyack, NY. Turn around quickly, maybe even run. They post a return policy and they do not honor it. Purchased a dress for a wedding I explained that I did not try it on due to personal reason all the tags were stilled attached but they said because it was three weeks they WOULD NOT take the dress back or even give me a store credit, though I was willing to purchase other items. The rudeness of the Manger was unbelievable the conversation between the manager and salesperson was spoken in a language other than English which I felt was very unprofessional. I will NEVER shop in that store and if you are smart as I said in my first sentence turn around do not enter there are so many other stores that you can fine a beautiful dress and you will be treated with respect as a customer should be. I would really giving a rating of minus (-) 5 stars. read more
