My experience has been transformational, and I am very grateful for LTC. Gilbert and Maria are some of the most inspirational leaders I've ever met, and are clearly extremely devoted and passionate about the work that they do. It was magical, being both detoxifying and spiritual - I am definitely going to continue attending when I'm an alumni! A low light was the amount of time it takes to get medication in the morning and evening. It would consistently take anywhere from 10-30 min just to get meds - they definitely need to figure out a more efficient process. Overall, this place is awesome!

She didn't know or care to know my history with my mother, and was not on my side. I felt judged, misunderstood, and like I was in a way, forced to be there by my own parents when I needed medical treatment so desperately. I felt this place just took the money and agreed to helping me, only to be somewhat shady and odd once I got there. It was sad time for me. I felt mistreated. That is not how you treat anyone (especially a sick person). I felt some of the staff was mean, especially Kat, and just watched me 24/7. I felt uncomfortable most of the time. Upon my last week or so there, I got yelled at and mistreated by another client in one of the houses I lived at. She was mocking me and I told the operations manager about it. He came by the house and got everyone's story in the house besides mine. The next day, I was called in the office and admitted I engaged in reactive abuse, which is when we react to unfairness in ways we don't mean because I made a rude comment back to the girl. My therapist Brynn labeled this as "worse" even though the other client was low key violent prone, and I have proof of that, because she is aggressive and was making fists when talking to another girl in the group. They used my reaction (which if they were actually versed in psychology they would know WHY i reacted this way), to kick me out of the house (as if I started the beef with the other client, which I didn't). Without enough of a notice, I ended up being forced to go to a sober living (mind you, I do not even have an addiction problem), and ended up on the street. They did not care to check in with me, and I was at this program for 5 MONTHS. They should have been on my side, knowing that I was in an abusive relationship with my parents and were holding finances over my head (which is financial abuse). The night I was left on the street, I really thought I may die that night. Thank God I have the faith of a mustard seed, because I prayed harder than ever after 2 days of homelessness. I ended up finding a REAL therapist to talk to who moved me into her home that night (thank you Jesus). While I was living there, the owner of Casa called me and I shared my grievences with her. When I shared them, she strangely made rude comments about how shes sure I "have not and will not" find a better treatment center to live at, but I was living at one. One in which the women were supportive, the home owner was fair, we each had our chores to do and kept the house very clean. There wasn't drama that any of the girls could get away with. When you're vulnerable, at times, you need somoene to stick up for you. Especially at a rehabilitation center. I do not recommend this phony, "counseling" center that takes your money and doesn't know how to help sick people who are vulnerable!!!! By the grace of God, I ended up going to a better treatment center after this who ACTUALLY helped me get better. I'm very glad i'm alive, and no I do not recommend this place at all.

I downloaded Yelp just to make this review. Never ever send anyone you love here. They don't give one flying flock about you. Will call your parents and lie. Definitely don't send yourself. This place is an insurance scam. They flew me out just to kick me out for having medication induced panic attacks. I asked to speak to my psychiatrist and was ignored. I'm bipolar and they just put me on a bunch of random drugs. now I'm getting ignored by everyone and I'm just trying to get all my things I was forced to leave. I'll never get them. And almost certain they never even looked. I was being fed around 12 pills a day all prescribed by randoms. That asked the same robot ass question everytime. I never met with the same doctor more than 2 times other than 1 time. it was just a random asking questions. They refused to contact my personal psychiatrist. I ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES. MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. for me or them to get into contact with him. I was ignored. I'm gonna get my doctor to also file reports on this situation. BROCK lied to my mother about multiple things including the program in general. JONAS is also a liar and cares nothing about you. JERNEY LIED TO MY FATHER. And me. He treated me like crap straight up crap, talked to me like a child and belittled me over the phone, I was in tears just trying to communicate on how to get my stuff I was gave no option to get before I was kicked out. He's a jerk ASSHOLE, him and Brock both are convincing and manipulative over the phone. Don't believe what they're saying because once you get there you never see them, hear from them and if they say you will they are lying. Ive filed reports still working on one. And im in the airport on my way back home. Im beyond devastated with this attempt at a second chance. I'm mourning the time I wasted and my missing items I'll never see again. Please don't go here. They kicked me out didn't allow me to get my things im missing a WHOLE BAG, my blanket, a pair of shoes. Now BROCK AND JERNEY are completely ignoring me my mother my father and everyone else I've asked to help me. Besides the 1 times JERNEY answered and basically told me to shut up and stop calling. They played nice to get me there then kicked me out and didn't pay for my flight back. !!!!!(Legally in California they have to fly you back if they fly you out)!!!!!IM 20 years old. It was my first time flying alone, first time away from home. First time trusting a program. They refused to let me call my mother instead they called her and told her straight lies. I DID NOT GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO!! She was just an emergency contact!!!!!!!!!!. my phone was at corporate and took around 2 hours to get to me before I could personally call my mother. 2 hours of not knowing what's going on, locked in a room, and panicking while I was completely ignored. It was mental torture. I'm a 20 year old female who decided to get help for herself for the first time. I left emotionally exhausted, damaged and in need of MORE help. The staff are just random druggies off the streets with horrible attitudes. Like think about Bhad Bhabie but no teeth and more passive aggressive. These people work for the check and got the job because they were on drugs. They have no clue what they're doing. AND THIS IS A DUAL PROGRAM FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE. THEY DO NOTHING THEY PREACH OVER THE PHONE OR THE WEBSITE my mental health was 100% looked over and ignored. If I had no money they would have just let me out on the street to fend for myself that's how heartless of a program this is. I've failed to be able to get in contact with anyone besides Brock and Jerney. That's such a red flag. Such a big red flag. BROCK lied to my mother about multiple things including the program in general. JONAS is also a liar and cares nothing about you. Ive filed reports still working on one. And im in the airport on my way back home. AGAIN dont send anyone here not yourself, NO ONE. Im beyond devastated with this attempt at a second chance. I'm morning the time I wasted and my missing items I'll never see again along with my dignity and any hope I had for the mental health and sanity I had left. Please don't go here. THIS PLACE IS ALSO DIRTY. DISGUSTING. AND THE 2 GOOD ROOMS ARE GIVEN TO FAVORITES!!!!!!!!!!!! THE SHOWER FOR THE 2 ROOMS THAT DONT HAVE A SLIDING DOOR TO THE OUTSIDE IS MADE FOR A SMIRF. I'm literally 5'4 and the shower head was at my chest, and the inside was rotting and molding. I'm so shaken up. It was terrible.

Wrapping up a one month stay at Capo By The Sea and figured I'd leave a review in hopes to be…read morehelpful to others considering treatment here (or elsewhere). Some background... I've struggled with substance use disorder / alcoholism for much of my teen and adult life and have pursued sobriety over the past three years, primarily through AA back home in Boston. I relapsed in May after a 9-month run of sobriety... during the 7 months from May through December, things got worse, not better, and I felt like I couldn't figure out how to get back on track on my own. I've long resisted the suggestion to attend inpatient rehab, primarily out of fear from completely disconnecting from my professional life (I run a professional services firm and feel I need to be reachable for emergencies, etc.). Once I found out there were rehabs that allowed phone access (which I hadn't considered), I decided to get over myself and pull the trigger by the time I turned 40, which I did during my first full day at Capo. Life at Capo: Peers (the other clients): Feel like I hit the jackpot here. I've been surrounded by other sharp, successful individuals who struggle in similar ways. Lots of diverse life experiences, incredibly kind and interesting people, universally supportive and serious in their pursuit of recovery. -- 10/10 Staff (therapists, technicians, support staff): Another jackpot. The program is supported by a large staff, most of whom have been with Capo for a long stretch. They work cohesively, skillfully, and have our best interests at heart. I couldn't be more thankful for the environment they've created. I've never eaten better, and I feel like I'm walking away with tools and insights that will help me sustain my recovery post-Capo. There's a good mix of group therapy, individual therapy, and alternative modalities (breath work, yoga, massage, etc.). Like with the clients: diverse life experience, incredibly kind and interesting people, universally skillfully and supportive in what how they approach their work. -- 10/10 Other Stuff: I've enjoyed being exposed to what I would call "the greater Capo community." I've enjoyed the outside AA meetings in the evening, attending Capo Church on Sunday mornings (always followed by a group brunch at The Brig in Dana Point Harbor), and taking walks around our neighborhood and down to Capistrano Beach. I haven't attended church much as an adult (raised Catholic), but I've found the Capo Church (which is not directly associated with Capo By The Sea) to be a cool place with great music. Attendance is optional, but it's been a great overall Sunday morning routine for me. -- 10/10 Other Other Stuff: John, the founder of Capo By The Sea, seems like an incredibly compassionate guy. He's certainly built what I would consider to be a heck of an operation. We get to know him directly as he runs our 7:30am gratitude meeting each day, and he also treats folks to brunch on Sunday mornings after church (if you decide to go). I think the culture and staff of any business tend to be a reflection of leadership, and I couldn't be more impressed or thankful for what John has built. I consider it a real blessing that I found my way to Capo By The Sea. -- 10/10 The Weather: I thought it was supposed to be sunny in Southern California? We've actually had a few days of rain during my stay. It would be cooler if the weather were 70 and sunny every day, not just most days. Sure beats Boston winters tho! Jokes aside, I've found Dana Point to be the perfect place to rest and recover before heading back home to the Northeast. -- 9.5/10

The admissions person I spoke with over the phone said I would have "chef made meals". I was dropped off at a Vons with a $75 gift card to buy groceries for the week. As someone with a dual diagnosis, this was incredibly misleading and resulted in me not eating for 24 hours. The same admissions person said "the home i would be in would have shared rooms, but plenty of bathrooms". I arrived to the house which had 1 bathroom shared among 7 women. He made my intake experience that should have been miserable actually bearable and even a little fun which really brought a glimmer of hope to the beginning of the path. Drivers: Shoutout to the entire driver team. Riley is the one who picked me up and drove me in to in patient and gave me some really powerful words of encouragement. Joel always had me and the rest of the guys laughing and really lightened up my experience there while providing some really good wisdom as well. Darren and Sniper Jim were great drivers who conducted themselves very professional and executed any all tasks flawlessly while also bringing some laughs along the way. House Management: Man these guys were all so wonderful and such blessings to have for the day to day stuff. I want to shoutout Aaron, Andrew, Justin and Colby. Every single one of these dudes were there for me at various parts along the way and each one of them went above and beyond to help me out. These are exactly the dudes you want handling the houses when you're going through treatment! Case Managers: The entire case management team was unreal. Mike, Jeremiah and of course my case manager Matt. Mike was such a sweet and caring dude but very deep. His groups really brought some great introspective thinking. Very bright dude who is great to pull aside and run things by. Jeremiah was the man since day 0!! This dude actually took the time to give me a tour of the facility two months before I ultimately came in. He was super kind and genuine but could really bring the heat when we needed it. This is a man passionate about what he does and is in it to genuinely help turn guys lives around. Which he had a big part in doing just that for me! Matt... You're one heck of a case manager man. There were some pivotal points of my recovery where I wanted to just be done and leave but you managed to steer me in the right direction and really stand in my corner. You were nothing but phenomenal from the beginning. You were constantly proactive. Anytime I needed something you were likely already on it and if not you addressed it and got it handled immediately. From start to finish you set me up for success and I can't thank you enough for that! Pastoral Staff: Tom, Eric and Bob I love you guys and am so grateful for the ways in which you have all guided me spiritually. Each one of you are such brilliant, inspirational and strong men. God is surely looking down upon you three and so proud of the work you do in changing so many men's lives for good. Pastor Tom - There simply aren't words to describe the impact that this man has had on my life. He was there for me constantly through the highs and lows. This man would take his time to get to know each and every man personally and really support them to the max. You can see the Holy Spirit in this man and it shows in all that he does. I wouldn't be the man I am today if it wasn't for P.T. Pastor Eric was such a funny, loving and relatable guy. He always made Christian group so much fun and really knew how to make scripture so unbelievably relatable. He knew how to speak to each man's soul and really connect with them on another level (Believers or Not). Thanks for being such an integral part of my recovery! Pastor Bob is an absolutely brilliant man and a true testament of turning your life around. Bob held groups for everyone regardless of your faith or beliefs. Mr. Ed, Aaron, Andrew, Joel, Jeremiah & Pastor Tom are only a few of the staff there that are really special people who literally save lives every day. The inclusion of God and Christianity is another life saving part of this program. The men take it upon themselves to include Bible studies and pray together and for each other. The men that were in program with my qualifier are still in touch with each other and truly mean a lot to our family. The other families and ours have become part of a larger family because as Mr. Ed says, "we heal in community." The importance of including families in treatment is the one thing that other programs are missing. Treating the disease of addiction/alcoholism should include families because we too are affected by the disease. And Mr. Ed has weekly family group meetings for families with qualifiers currently in patient and alumni families. These meetings are so important because he teaches and gives families opportunities to keep connecting and learning. We, as family members are also able to share our experiences, our strengths and our hope. Through this program we have learned so much and have made it a part of our daily lives. I wrote this to Mr. Ed and I'll share a lil bit here: Doing the 3Gs and Daily Readings every morning brings so much clarity, calm & routine to our lives. Program and having the tools you gave us has really changed our lives, our marriage and our family. Thank u, Mr. Ed. Xoxo
