Great place. Wonderful variety of different treatment tactics from yoga, acupuncture, EMDR, one on one talk therapy and group therapy. Twelve step programs were available but not shoved down my throat. The staff is informed, genuine, and very kind. The recovery industry is huge in Orange County, and after the Affordable Healthcare Act, there seems to be a lot of questionable practices becoming the norm. For example, the giant fees charged for gathering and testing urine every day or every other day subsidizes some of the amenities these businesses use to attract clients. People involved in this industry can make a lot of money off of kickbacks from urinalysis fees and client referrals to the places that can most effectively milk someone's insurance benefits with the treatment types that they offer. There are also individuals who will help get a client signed up with a good insurance package... and even help make sure the premiums are paid... so that they can collect on the claims paid out whether by treatment they themselves offer, or by way of a referral fee originating from a treatment center who can bill these huge fees associated with drug and alcohol treatment that the insurance companies are forced to cover now. Do yourself a favor if you are able to: Go drive past the business offices of some of these treatment centers and see what kinds of cars are parked out front. You will find no shortage of luxury automobiles paid for with urine or referral kickbacks. A large component of substance abuse treatment revolves around instilling a sense of trust in others so that they can open up about their inner issues and let other people help them work through them. When a person is in treatment and sees treatment providers operating with questionable business ethics it negates some of the things one hopes to gain from treatment. The Clinical Director, as well as some of the staff at Oceanfront showed me time and time again that doing the right thing, and operating their business with a solid ethical foundation was an integral part of their organization. This has helped me tremendously with my trust issues and with learning I can rely on other people to help me through difficult areas of my life without going back to old, comfortable behaviors. I saw them keep clients who were probably costing more in staff time that they were able to collect from their insurance plans. These people are not doing this to get rich. They are partnered up to make a living offering quality help to those who need it most. While sometimes I wished that billing my insurance for drug testing could have helped us have more expensive outings, in the long run, I'm glad I found a place that did things the ethical way. There may be some organizations with better websites and promotional materials but you won't find a place with a more genuine staff, or a more ethical business model. As someone who took a huge leap of faith and made a decision to travel cross-country for treatment to Oceanfront, I absolutely feel compelled to share about how confident the entire staff (from the clinical team, to the administration to the CHEF- that's right.. chef) made me feel about that being the right decision for me. After a three year period of sobriety, a relapse landed me here in Laguna at Oceanfront's detox facility prior to entering the residential program. Aside from the unbelievable ocean and hillside views which absolutely speak for themselves, the nursing staff could NOT have been more professional or caring while I spent my first few days getting acclimated to the total life change I was making. There's something to be said about staff who treat clients like they're human beings - not every facility can or will offer that. Compassion is paramount, especially in early days, and the nurses/techs/drivers/chefs/admin team members were unbelievably kind and caring - taking note of my every concern, acknowledging my individualized needs and treating me with the respect every client needs and deserves. The detox process establishes a solid foundation upon which they build on in the residential program with multiple daily groups, one on one individualized therapy, daily 12-step meetings and re-integration therapy. The amenities Oceanfront offers (luxury/homey/personalized and gourmet everything in comparison to a more clinical setting at larger facilities) just scratch the surface of the goldmine this place represents for entering into recovery - whether you're trying for the first time or the tenth time. I'm in awe of the organizational structure and the obvious care and with which it was established by ownership. The administration operates with client satisfaction and happiness at the forefront of everything they do. I am forever grateful I found this place. This place is so toxic I have no idea how they are still open. In my time there, I saw so many people relapse right in the house they were supposed to get clean in. Then, they were punished for a few days and put right back in the house. Staff sits around on their ass, smoking and watching tv. There is almost zero support during the day, except to go to groups that are not helpful at all. It is so obvious that the higher ups are only in it for the money. The therapists are so unprofessional. Their therapist in charge, named Ernalyn, is probably 50 and wears the shortest skirts I've ever seen. She flounces around in her Louie Vitton and super high heels. She is ridiculous. The big bosses make all the rules but they never talk to us, so they don't know what we need. The biggest problem are the intake people, Justin and Aaron. They bribe people to come here by promising them money or getting their phone early, but then they don't keep the promises and never talk to us again. This place made me want to do drugs more. Even now, I have to keep myself anonymous because I was threatened that they "know people". Please, go anywhere else. You will not get better here. At least research it fully before even thinking of going here. One more thing, they are probably paying Yelp to remove bad reviews. They have been there since at least 2000 and have very few reviews. I know for a fact a bunch have been taken down. Please, for your own sake, don't go here. Shadiest place in SoCal except for maybe Spencer's. read more

I've been in recovery here in Orange County for over 13 years now, and went through addiction treatment myself prior to that. Although Orange County has a large and active recovery community, it is still a relatively small demographic and people get to know one another over the years. Because of this I get to see and work with individuals who are or have been clients at many different treatment centers. I also get to know about the various centers, and the people who operate and staff the centers as well. I believe Oceanfront Recovery is definitely one of the best addiction treatment centers in Orange County. I personally know a number of men who have completed the program and are staying clean and sober, and more importantly are leading happy and productive lives. In addition I know several of the Oceanfront Recovery staff, and their level of professionalism and concern for their clients is truly unique. Terrible center very unorganized staff is constantly changing people over dosing and no real client care. Facility is really only concerned about billing insurance. One of the most unethical places I've seen shocked that they are still open. Some of the main staff really needs therapy themselves bringing personal issues to clients just unprofessional all around. If you care about your loved ones please do research and find a better place. You truthfully would be better off sending to the Salvation Army. Center may be located in a beautiful area but that's about it no help whatsoever. Some of case managers seem to care but other than that clients are really just a commodity $$$. read more

I came into this program last year and stayed for roughly 3 months. My entire stay was amazing and life changing. Never have I been to a place where staff cared for me as much as the had, and I was able to bond with my peers in a way I never have before. As an Oceanfront alumni 2023 and reading these past reviews I feel obligated to say something. Oceanfront is an amazing recovery program! Honestly the best, most professional program. From the extremely caring staff, nurses, and admissions team really works with you to help you in every way. VERY willing to work with you to give you the personal treatment you want and need. Only program I know of that will let you remotely still be present at work while also being in the inpatient facility. You are allowed to have your phone and any other devices you want.
