First time coming here & first açaí bowl! Wasn't sure what to expect, but I loved it. I got a regular bowl without blueberries. I was surprised by how filling the bowl was. They have a loyalty card so be sure to ask for one! This place is great for hanging out with friends or getting some work done. Love to see it.

Such a delicious and healthy breakfast! We ordered the Sunshine Bowl and Green Bowl. I have a banana allergy and they were able to make my purée with pineapple, mango and coconut milk. The bowls are not only delicious but they are quite filling and beautiful. Great for breakfast or even a healthy alternative for breakfast. I definitely recommend this place and will return!

As an açaí fanatic, sobol is perfect on every occasion, including after failing a midterm, studying for a midterm, or just on a regular day I'm craving something filling but healthy. Açaí Bowl (regular size $8.65) w/ Nutella ($1.25): My go-to order from sobol is a regular açaí bowl with Nutella. The Nutella brings out a chocolatey sweetness that balances the "sour" taste in the açaí base. The fruits are always fresh and I love the combination that they use. However, the reason why I gave sobol 4 stars is due to very minor preferences I have. First, they occasionally put way too much granola in and although they have adjustments for how much, sometimes it depends on who is making the bowl. Second, I wish they spread the Nutella evenly over the bowl with a drizzle instead of a blob of Nutella on the side (for consistency in each bite). Other than that, sobol is easily one of the top açaí places near west Philly and I would recommend it to anyone nearby!

Love this place! Generous serving of açaí bowl and always clean and spotless inside! Employees seem to be taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe and abide by COVID precautions. Would recommend cookie butter and cacao nibs as added toppings.

The best treat you can have and still be eating everything healthy. The place is spacious with great lighting, lots of beautiful fresh healthy items and a choice of three sizes. We got the kid size acai bowl and it was perfect. The fruit is fresh and the honey is sweet. You know you want some. Delicious!

I love their pitaya bowl here. Lots of fruits piled on and always so fresh. You can customize your bowl and put whatever toppings you want but I just go for the regular bowl with the pineapple, mango, kiwi, granola and coconut chips on top of the pitaya. As for the space itself, it's very nice and spacious. It's usually not too loud in volume for music or people since lots of people pick up their bowl and leave. They have really fast service so people go in and out, but it's also pretty decent for studying a bit as well. They recently are part of the snackpass collaboration so you can order ahead and pick up as well. Overall a great refreshing place in food and ambiance in the ucity area!

As this was my first time trying an açaí bowl, I walked right in and ordered the first thing on the menu- The Original. Although they seemed easy enough to customize, I figured I'd start with a tried and true classic. Presentation is adorable, and first looking at it might seem small, but I was full before I finished after walking in pretty hungry! The honey sweetened it up just enough to mesh well with the granola and flaked coconut, and the blend of açaí made me feel like I could take on the world! I'd gladly drop some money here just to get some fresh, quality ingredients into my week, though the price is a bit high (justifiably). Since it's on campus, you'll see a lot of students inside studying, but the vibes are good and the window seating gave me some food lighting for my photos!

I was trying to find a good açai place in Philadelphia and I came across SoBol. They have a variety of different kinds of bowls including açai, pitaya, green, and sunshine. I ordered a regular açai bowl with Nutella and peanut butter. I think the best part of the bowl was the fruit because it was fresh. However, I did not enjoy the rest of the bowl. The açai was still frozen in a little bit, and it tasted super tangy and sour compared to bowls I've had at other places. The granola would've been better if it was on top of the açai because it got soggy from being on the bottom. They also put a big spoonful of Nutella and peanut butter under the fruit, but it was hardened because of the açai. I think it would've been better if there was more of a drizzle of Nutella and peanut butter rather than a block. Overall, it's not a bad place if you want an açai bowl or a smoothie, but I definitely had better.

I'm honestly surprised that it took me this long to try SoBol, but I'm glad I finally did! The space is bright, open, and sleekly designed. The women at the counter were very friendly and helpful as I made my selection. The Açai bowl itself is a burst of flavor with every bite. It is sure to fill you up and comes standard with bananas, blueberries, strawberries, coconut flakes, honey and granola. I chose to add a cookie butter which complemented the texture and flavor of the rest of the bowl. Next time, I'd like to try the pumpkin peanut butter which was recommended by one of the baristas. This spot is perfect for grabbing a quick bite on your own or putting a spin on a classic coffee date!

This is my first experience with açaí bowls. Although I don't think açaí is for me, they have other options including smoothies and pitaya bowls. The bowls are customizable, so you can divert from the menu items (good for picky eaters)! The kids size bowl is the perfect size for an afternoon snack. I also tried the pitaya plus smoothie with protein. It was tasty and a good size but hard to justify spending $9 for a smoothie. I'll definitely be coming back to try the other menu options!

First time getting açaí bowl, since healthy food is usually not my thing. Lol. Got the regular açaí bowl. Overall, taste is good, not too sweet even with the syrup. I like the crunchiness the granola bar added to the bowl. Nothing really stands out.

Pretty good smoothie bowls! The prices are standard for a smoothie bowl these days but I wished the portion was a little larger. They offer three different sizes to choose from, which I've never seen at any other place. I ordered the Açaí bowl while my friends ordered the Pitaya. To be honest, the bases of each bowl tasted exactly the same. I couldn't taste a difference between açaí and pitaya here. I enjoyed their crunchy granola and the fresh fruit. I might be back for another bowl but to be honest I could make one at home that tastes just as good.

Grabbed an acai bowl on their opening day, August 23. The acai smoothie is a beautiful deep purple color, vibrantly sweetened with fruit and honey, and topped with coconut, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and granola. You can customize for an extra charge by changing up your fruits, adding nut butter or nutella, or chia/flax/hemp seeds. It is very, very sweet, to the point that you may consider some of those substitutes to add flavor complexity. Nutrition note: this is not a low-calorie food item. It is rich in energy: a regular 16-oz bowl provides about 440 calories, with 82 g carbs, 12 g fat, and 10 g of protein. All in all, I'd choose to fuel up here before a long and active adventure, but perhaps not just to sit around at the office! Allergy note: contains a tiny bit of soy (can't taste it at all), but you can sub juice or another non-dairy milk. I appreciated Sobol's thoughtfulness with respect to potential allergies!

I've been wanting to try Ethiopian food for the longest time and I've heard there are some great spots in West Philly. If they are even half as good as this place is, I'd be shocked. I had the beef wrap and loved it. It was a bit spicier than I'm used to eating but not overwhelming and I could use a bit more kick to my meals. I also one of each of the sambusa flavors they had. The flakiness of the pastries was exquisite. I liked the chicken one but the veggie might be my favorite. I'm actually planning to come back and enjoy the coffee house aspect of it. It seems like such a cozy place to hang out and read. The folx that work are so kind too!! West Philly has always been my favorite part of the city and this is just another reason to adore it.

Let's start with the mini-mart side, aka my happy place. They carry these crack-level addictive injera chips in rosemary, mild, and spicy--YES, I've tried them all, and YES, they're all elite. I keep saying I'll pace myself, but nah. Also obsessed with their zero-sugar digestive cookies?? I don't even know where else to find these, and honestly, I don't wanna know. Alif is my plug now. On the café side, the hot Ethiopian food is consistently . My all-time fave is the yellow split pea dish (Kik Alicha)--so flavorful, creamy, and comforting, like a warm hug from someone's grandma. It comes with two glorious rolls of injera, soft and tangy, perfect for scooping up every last bit. If you know, you know. There's a cute little seating nook to the right of the register, plus a few outdoor tables for soaking up some sun with your sambusa. The staff? Super quick and helpful whenever I ask questions--they always know what's up and don't mind me geeking out over new snacks. Also came by during the Dollar Stroll and tried their Ethiopian wraps, and--whew. How do I describe them? Imagine rich, spicy, savory magic wrapped in injera and handed to you for ONE DOLLAR. I was shook. It's no wonder I've been back like five times... and probably forgot to check in at least half of those visits. Oops. ‍ TL;DR: Alif Brew is my comfort café + snack haven rolled into one. If you haven't been, GO. And grab me a bag of spicy injera chips while you're at it.

It's the fanciest looking coffee house I ever visited, there's outside seating which is nice and the inside is lit up with warm yellow lighting throughout, very spacious with tables and wicker like chairs. It seems like a great spot to meet up with a friend or to visit, find a corner read or work. It looks like a family establishment, as I noticed there were children behind the register, a young man, maybe 10 years old took my order and did a great job doing so! Bravo! I purchased a vanilla hot matcha latte and a pistachio milk cake, the total was about $21!!! This price was expensive, visiting establishment like this often is not feasible to my budget but there's so much more I need to try so I'll be back. The matcha was amazing, actually the most authentic I've tried!!! And the pistachio milk cake was delicious, being a person who literally puts milk on cake lol, this was amazing!!! It wasn't too sweet and the pistachio gave balance! The slice is enough to share or split for 2 servings, which is what I did. Bottom line, I'll be back! I'd love to try their coffee and another pastry and possibly sit outside on a nice day. Please visit and enjoy!!!
