Well got ice cream and unfortunately, I wanted to pick up those English batter fish from the frozen isle but they only have one left. I was told buy one is $10.99 and buy two is $8.99 each. They said I can't pick up one for $8.99 and that it has to be two. So, I decided not to get it and plus the reason why its the only one left was that the box was pretty much very beat up. I think that one box will just end up in the garbage can seeing that I gave it to the sales and he just put it in the cart with all the random non freezer items. Its spacious here. No different than any other Safeway.

The store was bright, and shelves seemed to be stocked, and even though there were people, I didn't feel it was too busy. I picked up $1 bread, sushi from a decent selection, and a premade salad for less than $3. I also got snacks for our drive home at reasonable prices. There were two entrances, and I entered from the side with the elevator. The other side had escalators and there were a lot of people hanging out at the bottom of them. They likely have a lot of activity, as during two days we twice saw firetrucks, ambulances, and police cars but during my visits, there was no activity.

In front of me was a woman with a pretty full cart, but I was willing to wait, and it seemed like the quickest option. There was no one behind me in line. When the woman in front of me had finished unloading her cart, the cashier came around the till. She made eye contact with me, glanced down at my basket with two items, and put her closed till sign behind the other woman's groceries. She then turns, looks me directly in the eyes again, and with a smile says, "find a different lane." I had two items. I understand that you needed to close, to go on break or something, but how do look a customer in the eye and tell them to find a different lane than the one they had been waiting in for about 5mins? Would it have inconvenienced you to spend an extra 2mins helping a customer? I had to go to a different line to purchase my items. I left the store angry and embarrassed. If you are going to shop here please know: 1. selection is not the best 2. use the self-checkout at ALL costs, even if the line is long

It's a gigantic chain store but I still find quite a bit of difference from store to store, and therefore a reason to review. Let's go point form to get to the meat (rear centre/right) and potatoes (far right). - Unusually friendly staff. There's a a few of them that really stick out in this location! They're so friendly that I sometimes think they're mocking me. In all reality they're just very genuinely friendly, so I take the next minute to reevaluate and correct my unnecessarily pessimistic disposition. - Shiny clean produce. This is a staple among among Safeways and a real selling feature for sure. In general, their prices are higher than many other grocery giants, but if you need mass produced produce, Safeway is a solid choice. - Huge wait times. - I've not once seen this Safeway, or really any for that matter, run at full capacity. I've seen queues with over 18 people, but there are always closed registers. For some reason I forget about it often and am kicking myself when all I need is 1 item. *Side Note* I always think it's fun when you finish purchasing your items and the cashier says "You saved $6 dollars today." Who knew?? Did you know you save money?? Huh, I must be reading my bank statement wrong because it looks like I spent well over $100. ;) See you tomorrow, Safeway.

She stood extremely close to me, which made me uncomfortable. A simple "excuse me" would have been appreciated so I knew she needed access to the machine for her card tap or override. I understand staff need to assist customers and use the checkout system, but personal space should still be respected. For some people, having someone suddenly stand that close without warning can be very uncomfortable or triggering. I hope staff can be more mindful of this in the future.
