I tried Sobe Eats for the first time today, and im disappointed to say that I had a rough experience. The reason being that there was some sort of wire (think broken Bobby pin) in the birria bowl i bought, and soon after returned. I genuinely feel lucky enough to have caught it in the bite I took, and was able to remove it safely without enduring a hospital visit. The biggest reason im sharing this is to simply warn others. Purchased lunch at a Sobe Food truck and for $16 i received a flavorless bowl of partially cooked rice that was mostly rice with a small amount (probably two tablespoons) of pork that had been cooked to the point of dryness. There were sauces placed on top of the meat, but not enough to either soften the meat of flavor the crunchy rice it sat on which it sat. I highly recommend not eating at this food truck, especially when it costs $16 for basically poorly cooked rice. read more

It's a small little area to get into and easy to miss but the inside is so cute and the workers are excellent. I used to go to the little drive thru that they had but it seems like they've upgraded to a place which I enjoy so much better to be able to sit and eat with others. So good! We both tried the chilaquiles and can easily say this is the best we have had in SLC. The ambiance and table settings were super cool and Instagram worthy and the staff were all wonderful. The building might blend in to the industrial buildings around it but this place is a hidden gem for sure!! We will definitely be back to try more dishes! read more

Came for the elite event. This isn't your typical sit down style restaurant. This is all takeout - drive up and order. I ordered the SOBE bowl with carnitas (extra). I enjoyed it. The meat was cooked perfectly. I also liked the sour contrast of the slaw (cabbage and radish). My bowl had a nice spice to it which I believe came from the crema sauce, but it wasn't too spicy. -1 star - The rice was caked on the bottom of the bowl and it didn't have much flavor. The chips that came with the meal were store bought, but still decent. I REALLY wanted the horchata but they said they weren't serving it today...bummer! I love the tostadas and agua frescas here, everything tastes really fresh! However, the birria burrito and Asada bowl I got recently was a bit salty and there wasn't much of the avocado salsa in the bowl so it wasn't very flavorful. The biggest issue across the board was the temperature--all the fillings were lukewarm at best, which made the overall experience pretty unappetizing. DEEEEELISH! I had these tacos while they were working a grand opening event and I have to say they're incredible. I got the chicken tacos and they were so spicy in the right way! The portions are great for the price you pay and the quality of the ingredients. Since it is a food truck I am unsure their schedule or locations but I know you can find that on Instagram! My husband thought they were delish and wished they served actual homemade tortilla chips instead of the bulk kind you can get at Costco or just tacos a La carte! I will be back! I discovered Sobe Eats at a convention where they were one of the food vendors. wasn't sure I wanted to try it, but then was sorry I hadn't been eating there every day! I got the tinga chicken rice bowl. Plenty of tasty and tender chicken on top of perfectly cooked pinto beans and rice. The taste was enhanced with cojita cheese, salsa, crema, and those delicious pickled red onions. Even though this was at a convention and even though there was a line, the servers took the time to make the bowl attractive with radish slices and cilantro. I had been wanting to try Sobe Eats for some time and my family finally relented. Yay for me!! We ended up ordering the Birria and Tuna bowls and they did not disappoint! We also ordered the chips and sauces. At first glance the bowls don't appear to be that large, but as you are eating you realize how much food you actually have in front of you. Although the food was delicious the birria bowl was a tiny bit too spicy to me, but I am not sure if it was due to the meat or the sauce on top ?? Even still I would like to see a bit more sauce to go with the rice in the bowl. The chips were quite delicious and as were the beans. This place is packed with different flavors and a tiny bit of kick. From the tinga bowl, chips and dip to the birria burrito, I really wasn't a fan. The birria had good flavor and the burrito was packed full of it ,but, it was missing something maybe. Tinga bowl has a lot of good variety, which I love, but my taste buds just weren't having it. Chips and dip came with a sweet tangy sauce, that actually leaked through the holes of the box and got on my pants. Bean dip was good, who doesn't love beans, and a couple other sauces packed with flavor. We felt teased driving up seeing signs for dessert, we really wanted some churros, but, to our surprise, they didn't have any. We opted for the Hibiscus and ginger drink and the mojito instead.. The drinks were my favorite thing about this place. The mojito, minus the liquor cause they don't put that in, brought me back to my time in Cuba. I love this place so much. It gives me a great taste of south Florida right here in UT. Everything I've had here has been 10/10, from the birria torta to the veggie rice bowl, it's all amazing. I think my favorite thing is the sauce they drizzle on your tortilla chips (I could put it on everything I ate for the rest of my life!) Also, the mojitos are super refreshing and tasty so don't forget to grab one of those! My only complaint is the layout of the drive thru because I always have to do a 3 point turn to get to the pick up window. Saw their tent at the Art festival at Liberty Park and just had to try it. They have a food truck as well, the presentation is so colorful and fancy made it a tough choice to decide. Never been happier to be tricked into thinking something was cheese and finding out it was not. Each sauce is remarkable with a powerful flavor punch! One TIP: Order extra meat and toppings! The ratio of meat & toppings to rice is out of wack. I always end up with half the rice left and me wanting more meat and veggies. It's disappointing and I don't like it. Sobe Eats caught my attention as I was out running errands and actually on my way to pick up some quick fast food somewhere else. I immediately looped back around and decided to try them instead because they've got some serious curb appeal with their clean branding and little outdoor bistro area, coupled with their own drive-thru setup! (Also, small businesses are great to support over chain restaurants, especially right now.) Entering their location is a bit tricky if you're not looking out for it, so pay close attention if it's your first visit. But, if you know what you're looking for, it's easy. They're RIGHT off the main road leasing to the interstate onramp (across the street from At Home). Once you've pulled in, getting through the drive-thru is super simple. The menu is curated to include just a few options, which I love because generally that means they're able to do those few things really well. Also, it's less overwhelming trying to make a decision! You can select from four or five traditional Mexican meat options (chicken tinga, birria, seafood) as well as a vegetarian option. You can also request gluten free and keto! Meals are served as rice bowl with various different toppings and they have some kids' meal options, too. The rice-to-meat ratio could have been pushed a little more toward the meat end, but the bowls were filling! Prices range from around $5-$15 for a meal and $2-$4 for drinks. I got a Sangria mocktail and, while the meal was delicious, I would go back for that alone! SO GOOD. The only dessert option that I saw was a chocolate chip cookie, which I got when I upgraded to a combo meal. It was a good cookie and looked like it might even have been freshly made (??). But, I think it would be awesome if they offered something more in line with the rest of their menu- like tres leches, sopapillas or OMG CHURROS. I would be all up on that! I'll definitely be back soon. Even sooner if they get some Mexican desserts up in there. read more

I'm a bit conflicted about giving this a 4 or 5 star. The food was fantastic. The flavors were complex and unique and addictive and the meat is really tender. The chips on the side had a sauce on top that was amazing and I wanted more of that dip. It may have been that I was incredibly hungry but I finished my burrito and was still a touch hungry. What a wonderful experience I was able to have when these guys combined efforts with Thirst drinks and San Diablo churros to make a 'quarantine kit'. Included were two tostadas. They were so amazing! I mean I've seen photos, they look amazing, so colorful! So I had chicken and my husband had short rib. The meat itself was very moist and flavorful! The tostada was also packed with some potato and some cheese crumbs. The only thing I might change is having more cilantro because that is good stuff haha. The single tostada with all the goods on top came with another plain tostada underneath and for good reason, there is no way all of the stuff fits on the single tostada. There was a combination of flavors and textures that just worked together! Plus It filled me right up, I was surprised at how plentiful it was. I'd be happy to visit them again I. This tiny tiny little drive through is able to somehow produce a wide variety of Mexican ish food. The poke bowl was shredded not whole pieces of tuna and was actually a fairly small amount of meat for the price. Prices are overall affordable. I tried this place at the tattoo convention in 2020. Pretty great then and once I saw they had a store front figured I would check our more of their menu. Their guacamole is HANDS down one of the best guacamole's I've EVER had. The elote was something special they had that day and I've never been one to say "NO!" to elote. They nailed it with this one too. I would get again and again if a regular item on their menu. Tostadas are always a bit of a mess but this one is worth the trouble. read more
