This place is in the same strip mall as the laundromat I use when I need a commercial size washing machine. The dining area was very clean and decorated with a definite latino feel. All the TVs had the futbol game on. Felt like I was back in Curaçao. The food is simple and delicious. The chicken was very flavorful. The menu selection has a nice variety of choices and the pricing is fair. The girl who helped me ( Nicole ) was very sweet, friendly and helpful. Mediocre Asada street tacos last night. Also ordered 2 Chimichangas - one was crispy, one was soggy - One had no changes but didn't come with the side of beans like menu shows. Asked for one with no beans, sub rice. That didn't happen but at least I was smart enough to order a small side of rice. Chips were meh, salsa is very store-bought tasting. Can you think of any other spots in the valley that offer great fire grilled chicken with Mexican style favorites? Believe me, this is a rare commodity unless you live in Lehi where an El Pollo Loco is in plain sight. For the rest of us in the 801, El Pollo Royo offers healthy competition and a pretty awesome menu that won't kill your wallet. I drove out west to their sole location and in doing so, I wish they'd have another locale at least downtown. There, I picked up a Half Chicken meal. With a couple of sides to choose from, I ordered Rice and Macaroni Salad (Note: The Macaroni Salad is amazing with little ham, pineapple bits, and cracked pepper. I would go back just for that alone!). In addition, the order is going to come with fresh salsa (also some more choices in their salsa bar), corn tortillas, and a beverage. It's a lot of food, so much that some of this had to come to work with me the next day. I'll tell you that El Pollo Royo is a fine addition to the good restaurants out in West Valley City. I will be back again to enjoy more of what are hard to find meals around these parts of town. I found out they deliver too, so yes, consider me a fan. :-) read more

Sometimes I work real close to here and will stop by and grab some tacos. My favorite is the asada; they have four salsas to choose from 2 green 2 red and they give you some chips. Service is great because they take my order and give me the food so that's perfect. If you go at the right time they have some good telenovelas on the tv which is fun to watch while eating. read more

Very small little restaurant by Harbor Freight in West Valley. I ordered the 1/4 chicken Combe with 2 sides and a drink for $7.99. Pretty reasonable price for all that you get. See picture. The chicken was very good with just the right amount of char on it. Had fries and a salad with it which was good too. Friendly service and quick too. This place is incredible! We ordered one carne asada and one chicken taco with rice and beans - I was in heaven with everything on my plate! The meat is tender and perfectly seasoned, the rice was moist and cooked to perfection, and the beans were an ideal consistency. We also ordered the quarter chicken plate. If you go here with more than one person I'd definitely recommend sharing a chicken plate and sharing a taco plate because I honestly can't choose which one was more delicious. The chicken tasted like it had been marinated and then rubbed in spices before being cooked, full of complex flavors. The chicken here is delicious. Unfortunately the rice and beans are not. They don't taste like anything. The rice looks like they used red food coloring and is pink. The beans are runny with no flavor the champurrado is ok. Not the best but drinkable. We ordered half a chicken and only received. About 1/2 a cup of rice and beans and 2 tortillas. We had to but more tortillas and have ours reheated because they were cold right when we got them. We ate inside the place which is decent. The salsas are all watered down and taste like nothing. Not spicy at all. The staff is very nice. I would just recommend the chicken and will consider coming again just for that with nothing else. You could go to Rancho Market and buy the rice and beans there lol. read more

Best chicken tacos in Utah. Period. I consider myself a taco snob. Ever since I moved back to Utah from Chicago I've yet to find a taco place worthy of 5 full stars.... until I came here last night. Me and my gf happened to be in the area and decided to try it out and I'm SO glad I did. Here's why: -The chicken has a smoky/backyard/charcoal flavor to it. It's INCREDIBLE. -The chicken is VERY moist and tender. None of that dried out garbage here. -The salsas at the salsa bar have rich FRESH flavors ranging from mild to very hot. (Not like those plain watered down salsas you find at the popular taco trucks around here) -This place doesn't skimp on portions. When I go to taco trucks it takes about 10 of those mini tacos to fill me up. Here it only took 6. And at $1.50 each it's def worth every penny. -Everybody that works there was very pleasant, helpful and attentive. I'm honestly surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. It's really that great. I imagine it's because maybe a lot of people don't know about this place because it's located in the corner of a little strip mall. This is nothing towards the quality of the food if anything this is the best chicken in my opinion but the customer service by these new cashiers is the worst service that I had by far! The Latino man with the blond hair and the young chic as well are so rude and disrespectful they don't know how to treat the costumer ! Today I made an order for my family (4 people) and they just gave me 2 little cups of sauce I asked for more because there's no way that you can share 2 cups of sauce with 4 people!!! And the guy with the blond hair just gave me 1 more cup and he said that he can't give me more! I even say that I would pay if they need it but they didn't want to. I feel that is stupid because before the COVID-19 they let you grab all the sauce that you want without even asking so they shouldn't being thinking about how many sauces you need or want. The chicken is great. It's a hole in the wall type place that is absolutely packed. Lots of people eating here. They do a great job. The chicken is delicious, the employees are kind, and I love the rice and bean, I just wish the huge family meals came with larger amounts of the beans and rice. When I asked for them to remake it they basically tried to wipe it off and just give them back to me.
