Not my favorite car wash First of all, the traffic pattern is a nightmare. When you pull in to the lot from the road, you are often times gridlocked between people leaving the car wash/the line to the car wash/people attempting to leave the lot. It's a terrible layout. I hate to say it, but I wish the employees were a little less pushy trying to sell their car wash packages. If a "no" is given, boundaries should be respected. Customers shouldn't need to explain themselves as to why they don't want a membership. It's boundary-crossing and uncomfortable. I only come here when I'm on my way to Santee. Finally back from San Diego, and it's time to clean up my SUV after the road trip. I've missed Soapy Joe's, where I always washed my car in Sorrento Mesa, and I'm thrilled Santee has one! Just got the Maximum Wash for $25, and they threw in some awesome perks! My car feels clean and fresh again! What I love most is the unlimited vacuum - no rush like other car washes where you pay $1 per minute. I've missed this place and will definitely keep coming back. Remember, it is better to wash your car before 9am or after 5pm! It's not good for our car if you wash too hot outside. read more

A smaller SJ's compared to others around town but efficient none the less. Doubles as a gas station. I found parking after a wash and was able to vacuum and wipe down my daily. Parking is limited compared to the other SJ's in town. read more

Please avoid this location! It is causing backups onto Cuyamaca and people can't get on the freeway due to the cars waiting to get into the car wash. And, there are not enough vacuums so you'll not be able to vacuum your car. INSTEAD, GO THE THE BRAND NEW SOAPY JOES ON Mission Gorge and Fanita. It's much bigger and more accessable. SHAME on the Santee City zoning board for allowing such a dangerous traffic situation. read more

Not only did my car come out dirtier then when it went in, it ripped the paint of my 6 year old Cadillac. I cancelled my membership. The machines at this location look like they're a high school experiment. My $34.99 membership cost me thousands of dollars. Let this be a warning. read more

A fairly new car wash on Cuyamaca in Santee. This Soapy Joe's is at 8617 Cuyamaca St. It is on the lot with the Circle K/76 gas station. Inside the Circle K is an Earl of Sandwich also. We had a good experience at Soapy Joe's. We drove up the kiosk where two attendants were stationed. I selected my wash, the "Magic Joe Wash" which included a wax application and tire dressing. . The arm raised and I was guided into the wash. It took about three minutes to complete. We then exited to the free vacuum stations. I really liked that the vacuum stations had clean towels to finish up drying, etc. Although there are signs asking you to keep your detailing to five minutes. I've been waiting FOREVER for this car wash to open! Originally was supposed to be a different wash, but ended up a Soapy Joes! First time here! Compared to Five Star Wash down the road (where I am a member of) - the entry took way longer than squeaky since they do ONE car at a time and have the "entry" arm that lifts once it's your turn vs a continuous car entry. Overall seemed to clean and dry very fast. The towels for use by the vacuums were the winner for me. Will sign up to be a member soon! read more

Where there's a will, there is a way. Soapy Joe's car wash continues with its expansion with this new location in Santee. The car wash shares a location with Circle K and Earl of Sandwich which is inside Circle K. As a result, yes it can get a little cramp in the parking during peak hours. The good thing is, however, you can get a car wash, fuel, and a sandwich all in the same spot. The car wash equipment worked well and was efficient. Given the limited space, there's only one row of vacuum stations along the front of the business. Just a note, you can only enter from North bound Cuyamaca Street or west bound Prospect Street. You can attempt to enter east bound Prospect, but traffic at the light makes it challenging. I would advise to make a u-turn up a head on east bound prospect. read more

I came for a car wash, not a sales pitch. The push for a monthly membership is way too aggressive and uncomfortable--feels like you can't say no without getting pressured again. On top of that, the kids working here are immature. Loud, unprofessional, and acting like it's a joke instead of a job. Wash itself is fine, but the overall experience is a turn-off. Chill on the upselling and train your staff better. I won't be back. read more

I went to Soapy Joe's to wash my car and unfortunately had a bad experience. When drying my car I noticed that wax was still left on my car and a nice worker came up to me asking if I wanted to leave a review. I greeted her and said yes I would because my car has waxed left over, so looked and confirmed that shouldn't be on the car and then asked if I wanted to speak to a manager and I said yes. While I was waiting for the manger to come over I went to dry off my hood of the car and noticed that there was a trial of dirt down the middle of the hood that shouldn't of been there since I just took it through the wash and then scratches on the left hand side of my car. My focused was taking away from the wax and now on the hood. The manger spoke to me and asked if I wanted to file a claim and I said yes. He then recommended I do another wash because he said sometimes cars don't get clean. I followed his direction and took my car in again. I came out with the trail of dirt still on my car and new scratches. I flagged the manager over since he took photos of my car the first time and he then confirmed that the new scratches weren't there before and knew I wasn't just making up a story . If only there was a negative score for a review...My wife to took her 5 month old car, which had been immaculately maintained and parked in a garage every day/night, in for a car wash. Upon exiting the car wash she discovers that they had scratched the rear passenger and drive side of her car. When she tried to file a claim with the Santee location the employee laughed at her and questioned if the vehicle was even new, which it clearly was. Not only was the service terrible but the employees response was even worse. Relatively new Soapy Joe's location and it may be the smallest one. It is located literally at a gas station. There are only about a dozen vacuum stations although the car wash itself seems to be the regular Soapy Joe's one. Due to the small size of the location you can quickly get in and out as long as it's not too busy or crowded, which was the case during my visit. But I could easily envision times when there are no vacuum stalls available, which could be a huge inconvenience. read more

I pulled up and was immediately served and told to pull around. You are guided into the slot for your driver's side front tire and are told to place your car in neutral. This was a first for me as I am used to just slowly inching through the carwash. The process is rather quick, but effective. I did not get a chance to check out the vacuum center or drying area, but it was one of the most organized that I've ever seen. If you are in this area and don't feel like handwashing your car, this is your spot. read more

Soapy Joe's Car Wash in Santee is great in concept with a car wash, free towels to dry your car, free vacuums, and shaded area to dry and vacuum your car. The reality is that Soapy Joe's experience in Santee is not very good. More often than not, the vacuum hoses are broken. The bays are too full and you have to wait for sometimes fifteen minutes or longer - this is partially because a number of people do not pay for a carwash, but use the vacuums. There is no supervision to monitor the vacuums and towels frequently run very low. For these reasons, I cancelled my membership. I hope Soapy Joe's can get it together. read more

Was in the area, swing by and use this car wash. It was great. Leave your car in neutral gear and let the machines take care of the rest. I loved it at the end, the 8 pipes of air dryer blowing at each side of the car. Nice!! Those older car wash in Shell stations in Hillcrest that in my past use. I can't never timed my car to get through adequately blow dry time right. It's cool they held your tires before releasing you. Also at the end of the wash, coming out of it. There was a wait and go light. It will tell you if there is any traffic from the blindside! That was extremely helpful cuz it would ruined your day if you crashed the car after you washed it!! And to the left is where you can dry your car w the free towels and wipe down all those excessive water off the car & with powerful vacuum cleaners that scummed up all your dirts inside your car. Quality of wash is Magnificent! Just wouldn't have it any other way for our jeep compass.

When I pulled in to the wash, I noticed all of the vacuum stations were occupied. Came out of the wash and all of the same cars were still there. There is a time limit, but it wasn't being enforced. Yes, 5 minutes goes by fast but with such a small location the vacuums need to be monitored. I noticed one person parked next to a gas pump, preventing someone from being able to get gas. I was forced to park in front of the trash dumpster to stay out of the way. I had to go to 4 different stations to find clean towels to dry my car. That was pretty frustrating. Since my car was in the sun, the water on the windows dried leaving spots. Never got to use a vacuum. read more

I have been a Soapy Joes monthly pass holder for over 2 years and I typically go to the one on Miramar Road which I've always had amazing experiences. So I'd expect that at ALL locations but the Santee location had to prove me wrong. I want to emphasize the employees at Santee are wonderful so this is more directed at the location and operations. I literally had the most absolute worst car wash I've probably ever had since driving. My car actually came out dirtier than when it went in. The car wash sprayed way too much soap on the car and barely rinsed any of it off and when I went through the drying jets, it barely dried my car off. My car was drenched when I exited. I tried to pull into a cleaning station to be able to dry my car off but unfortunately they only have like 6 and there was a line of cars waiting so I left. My windows were so spotted from the soap drying on them that I had to use my windshield wipers so that I could see. When I got back to work and looked at my car I was annoyed by all the soap that had dried all over the body of my car. I ended up having to get my car washed a 2nd time that day (not at Soapy Joes this time) because of the trashy job this location did on my vehicle. I will never visit this location again! I'm surprised Soapy Joes even chose such a small location to open in. I'm sure I'm not the only person who has experience a crap job of a wash at this location. read more

Whatever you do don't get a car wash at Soapy Joe's in Santee. It was absolutely horrible. I've gotten better car washes at a $5 place. I had a coupon so o got their most expensive wash, $25. Half way through the tunnel the brushes stopped working and 3/4 of the way through the conveyor track stopped. The lady attendant came over and restarted the conveyor track and I tried to tell her I didn't get the entire wash including the tire wash. She just waved me through. I went back to the first attendant hat the beginning of the wash and he just gave me that deer in head lights look and threw his hands up in the air saying oh well! Today after visiting three different times with the vacuums, not working, I asked them for one of the upgraded yellow kits that have a dusting rag and a small polish block for your tires The short, black male manager said that was too much to ask The young man does not seem to understand customer service The two younger Hispanics seem to be working hard outside, but the manager was just chilling out in his office and was no help whatsoever. read more

It's a car wash, they're not exactly reinventing the wheel here. This location is kind of weird because of the traffic, sometimes it's hard to get in and it's always a pain to get out. They don't have as many vacuums as other locations, but it's probably adequate for most people. I mostly just care about how clean my car gets and it's fine for me. I'm not sold on the value of the membership since they seem to raise the price without any notice. I also don't really care if the employees are friendly since I rarely have any interaction with them. If I can get in and out without being stuck in there (looking at you La Mesa location where the machine seems to break often while I'm there) it's good enough for me.. read more

I went to soapy joes in Santee and the attendant was so aggressive and horrible. He tried to pressure me into a membership. I said "No" 3 times to a membership and he kept pressuring me. He was not going to take Nofor an answer. He kept talking about the membership and this went on for quite awhile. i Asked him to stop and he said it was his job to do that then kept talking and pressuring. I could tell he wasn't going to let me in anytime soon. I said I was going to leave and started to back up then I changed my mind and said I would stay. He told me to leave and I should go to a different car wash. I was never belligerent with him or rude just not wanting the membership. I've never had this type of experience before Anywhere especially as a customer. I felt harassed and bullied. 2/24/24- I went there around 9am, Saturday. Nice and friendly employee. I'm giving it 2 stars for the nice employee and no line. My car wasn't washed thoroughly. The back of the car wasn't washed for some reason. Then the blowers didn't get rid of at least half the water droplets on the windows or car. I took off 3 stars. This was the least clean car going through a car wash. I will go elsewhere. read more

They unauthorized a full $25 monthly membership charge the following month. I e-mailed and spoke to someone on the phone regarding unauthorized charge. They said they would refund me the unauthorized charge. They asked if I wanted one current month for 1/2 the price. I agreed. Till now I have not received the credit for the unauthorized charge. When the manager says they can not refund because of company policy, I see that this corporation is not in it for the customer, but only for stealing from the customer for there own profits. Genuinely almost crashed out at this soapy Joe's. I exit the car wash and all of the like 7 vacuum spots are full. I struggled so much to just find an area where I could wait for the vacuum spots to open but the spots are RIGHT next to gas station pumps and I almost got backed into because it was so chaotic. THEN I get to a spot and the vacuums on either side of me are not working. The left side vacuums had no suction going on and the right side vacuum the tube came apart from the nozzle. The car wash also loosened a rubber strip on the roof of my car and it flew off on the freeway. read more

I always go around 7am on Sunday or 7pm in the early evening. Usually not much of a line. Vacuums are great and they provide towels to dry your car. The attendants are always friendly and you get an air freshener. I got the $25/month membership and it's a good deal. My car is always clean now. And we always get a treat at the CircleK. It's clean inside and the guys are awesome at the register. You can get hand made sandwiches or hotdogs burgers nachos (warm up) or they warmed ones you can grab, all kinds of snacks sodas libations slushes ice cream. They are great! read more

The attendant gave me a towel before I went into carwsh which should have served as a red flag! My car came out still dusty in many areas such as the hood, the roof and the sides of my car and I had to clean it myself!! That is crazy! Will NEVER USE ONE OF THEM AGAIN! I have had a subscription to Soapy Joe's in the past so I was a little disappointed with the "Elite Event." When I scanned the QR code at the new Santee location it didn't work so one of the attendants went in the office and came out with a code which he scanned giving me access. I was supposed to have received the top-tier wash as part of the Yelp event but my car was run through the washer in about 90 seconds so if that was the deluxe wash then their service has gone way downhill; if that wasn't the wash I was supposed to get then shame on them for not providing what they had advertised. Either way, it seems like a bad way to promote a new business venture. Why invite Yelpers and then provide poor service? Don't they understand how it works? All in all, I got a quick car wash for free so I guess you get what you pay for. I don't think the event was a good representation of the value of the service. read more

Horrible car wash Worst one i have ever been. I did the deluxe $20, went through, my car came out completely Dirty! showed them that it did not clean my car. They did NOT make it right they would not even let me drive through again. The vacuums were broken, said they would be fixed shortly before closing. It was already 7 PM. clearly, there is maintenance issues at this location I have been to many so very happy this place had terrible customer service employee was rude unhelpful and their car wash is not working properly nor is there vacuum I paid 20 bucks and left with that was no cleaner? Extremely long wait times and horrible customer service. They needed an attendant to assist customers getting through the turnstiles as they paid. It was painfully slow just for one car to pass through the turnstile before the car wash. I purchased a membership card from Costco and the service attendant didn't bother to give me any information about setting up the account. They did not set up my account correctly and was not able to use my membership the next time I tried to use my membership they blamed the people who redeemed my gift card. read more

My new car was damaged in the machine, they literally brought the piece out to me. The damage to my rims are a perfect match to the grippers on the wash yet after seeing my car get damaged in the machine on video they denied it and said it was pre-existing damage. I had just purchased this car a little over a month before this incident. Shameful and unacceptable. read more
