I really hate leaving this review, but here goes. I booked an appointment as a gift for my daughter visiting from NYC for a natural mani/pedi (no gel). When she arrived she wasn't able to pick her polish color before her appointment began, so I guess the manicurist assumed she wanted gel polish, which means she buffed and roughed up her long natural nails. To make matters worse once the manicurist figured out she didn't want gel nails, it was too late and the manicure she got last 2 days before chipping like crazy. And now her nails are breaking and damaged because of the over-buffing. I feel so bad for her. Not sure how to remedy this, but be careful if you don't want gel nails if you book here. The salon is cute, its on the second level, and you can find parking in the garage (Its $3 cash, the salon can stamp your ticket to validate 2 hours for you) I got their gel manicure which is $40. They have listed prices in the salon and this particular manicure is meant to be "quick". If you're someone who doesn't mind getting a rushed service for $40, then this might be your place. This was the fastest manicure I've ever had, my nails were not filed down properly, some nails were left without any shape, the nail technician asked what color I wanted on my nails but proceeded to select a different color on her own, she left nail polish residue under my nails and fingers. When my nail salon closed down a handful of years ago, Soak was the best rated salon I found nearby. Now a happy, regular customer, I'm happy to call this my go-to nail salon. Inside you're greeted by a pink aesthetic amongst an industrial vibe. Every chair in the place is light pink, even the waiting area. They also have an IG worthy backdrop behind the check in desk. They've just recently begun some modifications to the space and it's looking great. Leslie and her team are awesome. Whether I call ahead many days in advance or the day of, they always find the time to get me in. They've got everything you'd ever want to have done (Gel-X, regular gel, even hair removal), and tons of color options. I have to shout out aestheticians Tiffany and Julie; these ladies are always able to give me what I ask for, whether it's simple or complicated, and they're absolutely lovely people. If you're lucky enough to have Leslie do your nails, you're in for a treat. TIPS: the salon is located on the second floor. You can park in the structure, but make sure to get your ticket validated before you leave the salon - parking will only be $3 if you do. Otherwise, there's street parking. I used to be very satisfied with the work at Soak nails but I have now had two bad manicure experiences in a row. The first was about a month ago right before Leslie went on vacation. I loved it initially but she had trouble curing it which we both noticed while I was there. She cured it a few more times and I thought it was fine but this beautiful manicure only lasted about a week and a half before it started coming off. I was so sad because it was pretty. Fast forward to October 1. I came back in and had my service done by Maihan. I again had an issue where the nails didn't cure correctly. I pointed out to her that my thumb was wrinkling and she thought it was weird. I suggested that maybe it was the same lamp Leslie used the previous time and maybe that was the issue. She tried curing it some more but again it didn't work. A few days later, 5 of the nails, 2 on one hand and 3 on the other were wrinkling and looking awful. I needed an appointment asap to fix it because I was starting work the next day but they weren't open on the day I needed to come in. So I ended up going elsewhere. I'm sad and disappointed in these two experiences because this ended up being really expensive for me. read more

My first time doing gel x nails I came here and Mimi did my nails. She did a really good job with the almond shape and I left happy. I called to make an appointment for fill and since Mimi wasn't available, Lynn did my nails. I literally wanted to cry everyday until I did my nails again. Not only did she make it shorter than I had asked, 2 of them were extremely short. I even offered to pay for them to fix it and instead they just start speaking in their own language obviously about me. Also my nails looked more like a V shape than almond shape. This isn't cheap. It costs almost $100 for hands and feet. I am never stepping foot in this place again. I can't stand all these women just speaking in their own language and obviously about the customers. I definitely regret tipping! read more

I will not be returning to this salon and I do not recommend it to anyone... My experience was disappointing and unpleasant. I had hoped for better service. I made an appointment over the phone for a dip powder mani-pedi and confirmed the pricing of the services as well as the x-gel removal. Upon arrival, I waited around 10 minutes before being seated in a non-massage chair. Not a problem, but I know some people really care for comfort. The girl doing my pedicure didn't even ask me what type I wanted, so I am guessing she assumed it was the classic one. She started working on my toes without even soaking my feet in the water first, which was a letdown because I usually find it relaxing after a long day of meetings. I missed the soothing feeling of having my feet dipped in hot water, which is one of my favorite parts of getting my nails done. Not to mention how extremely painful it was. My toes are still hurting a day later. When she was nearly finished shaping my nails, I was curious and asked her if having the skin and nails soaked in water was better or not, and she insisted "It was just easier for her". I mentioned it once again how painful it was and she did not care a bit. Lastly, she rushed me to dip my feet in the water to do a quick rinse, which turned out to be freezing since she didn't bother to turn on the hot water for me. Note that the classic pedicure apparently includes a 5-second massage (I am not exaggerating.) Afterward, a different girl came to do my manicure. I specifically asked both of them to please make sure the red color matches my fingernails and my toes, and they agreed it would be the same. However, the pedicure ended up being much darker than the manicure, which I really didn't like. I overheard two different girls doing pedicures and asking their clients if they liked their color or if they want to check another one. I was not given that option, mine was a very quick-paint-straight and be-done-with-it kind of pedicure. The girl doing my manicure was nice and actually did a great job, but then I was surprised to learn that cleaning cuticles wasn't included in the manicure and it costs an extra $10. It felt like I had no choice but to pay for it, as messy cuticles would ruin the overall look. To add to the frustration, I asked the girl whether they would charge for removal if I returned for a new dip powder, and she confirmed that they would. So, it turns out removal is not included, regardless of whether they did the new dip or not. It would have been nice if they had mentioned all these extra charges upfront when I inquired about the pricing initially. I guess that's why they avoid having menus or pricing signs anywhere... It feels shady! I mean, if a dip powder mani costs $45, but you end up paying an additional $65 for cuticle cleaning and removing the old dip they did, that's like a 40% increase! During my manicure, my nails were literally dipped in powder when the owner abruptly asked me about payment. I was SHOCKED when the girl doing my nails started going through my purse without permission looking for my wallet in front of the owner. I was taken aback by this invasion of privacy and it made me really uncomfortable. They should have asked if they needed to check me out during the service. I ended up getting my purse and wallet dirty with red powder. To top it all off, another customer sitting next to me was talking loudly on speakerphone, making it impossible to relax. I wish someone would have told her to please be considerate to others. As I was leaving and struggling not to ruin my polish while putting my flats on, the girl who did my pedicure was right next to me but didn't offer any help. The whole experience took two hours (5:30-7:30p), and the parking validation only covered two hours, so it's essential to keep that in mind. With validation, parking for 2 hours is $3. No street parking is available. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience. The 2-stars are for the girl that did my manicure. PS: A day after my service, I woke up to one of my toes infected. UPDATE: after 12 days, my dip power nails started lifting and coming off. NOT WORTH IT. read more

I have done gel manicures, gel extensions, and always get a gel pedicure. My nails last and never chip/break. I've never had to wait as long as I've had an appointment set. Made an appointment over a week in advance, came in about 10 min late and it wasn't a problem. You have to check in on a little screen, never seen that before. The employee who did my manicure made a HUGE deal about having to remove glitter polish. I get it, glitter is harder to remove than a regular polish, but she was sighing and complaining through the whole process. Same employee was wearing a mask and she was sniffling the whole time. She had snot on her nose which didn't exactly make me feel great, if you're sick you should just stay home. She also moved the gel oven without telling me and if smudged the gel and then told me off, made it seem like I did it on purpose. Also, the gel chipped after a week (pictured). I went in for my appointment today and showed them what I wanted they didn't complain nor said they couldn't do it. As the appointment went on, the lady did her job and work only to say she couldn't complete what I wanted and asked for. The hearts are a disaster, she didn't even clean or cut my cuticles. Didn't clean the extra nail polish to make it nicer. The acrylics are not even straight some don't have an almond shape. It's the worse nail salon I ever been to. If you can't do something then speak up. As soon as I saw her messing up I just told her to leave it as because I can see she was getting frustrated. Im just livid. read more
