So Inviting = So Yummy!
Megan V.

I just want you to know, deep in the heart of Old East Village, there is a little ray of sunshine waiting to be discovered. No, I'm not talking about the dumplings at So Inviting, I'm talking about the lady who works here! I love dumplings so I knew when I was in the area, I had to check this place out. The name itself, and just the fact that they sell these amazing pockets of goodness (by weight) had me running for their doorstep. Yamei Min popped her head out from behind the counter to give me the 411 on how everything worked. I don't think I've ever met someone SO NICE. Every time I've visited, she always greets me with a huge smile and hello. She's even gave a little discount when I waited a while she was in the back. But honestly, I'll wait forever for her! Yes, the dumplings are good. They also serve noodles, soup, and other baked goods. She also sells the dumplings frozen for you to take home. They get a bit so-so near the end of the day, but hey, she only charged us 50% for those so I can't really complain. I loved putting a few drops of malt vinegar on them and dipping them in soy. So Inviting is SO inviting and I implore you to PLEASE visit them and give it a try. It's SO worth it! ^_^

I'm not sure I can add much that already hasn't been said. My first visit was divine! Friendly service, lots of samples to taste and very reasonable prices for very delicious pot stickers and dumplings.I ended up purchasing some chicken and veggie pot stickers to go as those really hit the spot. I liked the sesame and bbq sauces as the hot was kinda hot. Prices are based on weight, so you could go overboard without realizing but it's still reasonable. My only issue is they use Styrofoam containers. I figure it's the cheaper alternative, but hopefully they can find something else and/or maybe let people bring in their own containers.

They sell Chinese dumplings and baked goods. Their dumplings are good! Make sure you eat them fresh. I enjoyed the fresh samples in store and also freshly cooked frozen ones at home. We also bought the ones already made and took them home, but couldn't eat them right away. We heated them up in the oven and the shells got a bit too hard. So don't do it. Eat them fresh!!! Personally I liked a bit thinner shells and the price might be a little expensive for dumplings, but I would probably come back. I liked some of the baked foods too. Also the couple who work there is really nice.

After reading other reviews online we decided to try this. The concept is simple, they seat you on a table then you scan the QR code to order, then the food will come and you pay the bill online simple. The restaurant is super clean and nice. It has a modern coffee shop vibe. You don't expect to eat authentic Chinese food here. But the food is great. I got beef and chicken skin on a stick, they both are flavorful and got great spicy on it. Then the noodles soup was great with Sour and Spicy base, wish it has more meat. Then the fried bun was crispy on the outside and soft inside. The intestines were little on the blend side. But overall the food was great. London is a great stopping point between Detroit and Toronto, so if you happen to stop by try this place out.

Because it is a hot pot buffet, we chose the Yuanyang pot. When I checked out, I found that the spicy butter soup base costs 10 dollar and the tomato soup base costs 5 dollar, which he didn't say it will cost before. He put the two of us at a table without lights, and the experience was very bad. There are few dishes to choose from. In the end, the price was very expensive, 40 dollar per person. After we reacted with him, the average person was only 2 dollar less. And the waiter told us they doesnt get tip! The tips all belong to the house! unbelievable! its totally illegall their boss did that! I think that why the waiter seems upset and no any good attitude! dont give any tips for them!

Despite us unable to get a seat, we ordered takeout. The lady helping us was so sweet and considerate, probably apologetic to the fact that both times I have tried coming to dine-in have failed haha. The food took around 40 minutes to finish making and I was absolutely wow'd. First off, the portions are amazing and especially at their price - phenomenal. First thing we ordered were the chicken jhol momos and needless to say that these are the best momos I've had. They were so flavourful and such a good balance between umami, salty, spicy, and a bit of sour. The Hakka house chow mein had all the classic flavours that we know and love. One thing I'll say about this, to be nit picky, is that I wish there were slightly more protein - but no complaints otherwise. The app platter was a great way to try all the popular non veg apps and the lollipop chicken by far was the fan favourite. Juicy, flavourful, tender - it was honestly so good we could eat just that. The Manchurian chicken was also amazing, slightly spicy and super flavourful. Last but not least, the mango lassi was your standard one: sweet and slightly tart. Overall, this place has become one of my new favourite places to get takeout from (and I have leftovers for days!). I definitely would like to sit in and dine one day.

This is a very mom and pop shop, where the owners work in the restaurant and live upstairs. Since there are only two to three people working, the service is VERY slow - so you have been warned! We ordered a fu qi fei pian, mapo tofu, and a beef shank pancake/wrap. The fu qi fei pian was utterly delicious!!! It wasn't overly oily nor spicy, but the perfect balance of spicy, sour, and sweet. The peanuts were delightfully crunchy, and the tripe and beef shank were very well done as well. Definitely our favourite dish. The beef wrap came in a lovely flaky crust... but the entire execution was spoiled by the fact that the wrap came overloaded with excessive hoisin sauce. The beef taste was therefore completely masked, and all I could taste was the sickening sweetness and saltiness of the sauce. What a shame! Finally, the mapo tofu. At first taste, it was very good and tasty. However, you will notice immediately that it is quite salty! Okay to have with rice, but could definitely use some more tofu to balance out the extreme saltiness. The dishes are well done, but a bit too overpowering in flavour. The service is friendly, albeit slow. Still a good find in London!
