Placed on the public side of the ticket barriers at Snow Hill station, this little shop is the only place in the station (vending machines aside) where you can pick up a take-away brew, sandwich or newspaper.
As is often the case with in-station conveniences, it's fairly pricy (75p for a chocolate bar!) which probably says a lot about how much the rent is as much as it does the proprietors taking advantage of their 'only shop in the station' status. Waiting for a train to London, I got a 'large' cup of tea from here which was nice but cost £1.30 and wasn't particularly large. The lady behind the counter did double-cup it for me though so it didn't burn my hand off.
The freshly-made sandwiches they stock have some oriental flavours about them although they also do cheese salad and so on. Overall, the stock is very limited but then it is a tiny space to run a shop in. However, it's outlived the Somerfield that used to stand right outside the station so it must be doing something right. read more
