We started off with the pickled cucumbers, with they offered as a gift for us visiting for the first time. Nice! One thing to note is that they bring everything to the table as soon as it's ready, which they mention up front. I wish more places did this, as your food is always nice and hot. We got the steamed chicken dumplings which were delicious. The real star of the show were the noodle dishes. We got the Singapore Mei Fun, Curry Duck Noodles, CKT (so good), and another noodle dish I can't remember. Deep, rich flavors with the perfect amount of spice. We sat outside and our server was terrific. We'll be back!

Roti Canai was great, the curry was flavorful and the roti fresh. Next up, Po Po Lo's Curry with chicken. Dish came out on the dry side, was covered in a curry paste with oil. And finally the char kway teow renamed to C.K.T. was a huge miss, immediately I knew this was going to be off. Noodles were very chewy, no charred smokey taste, lacked wok hei and flavor, had to send this one back. It was definitely not a CKT by any standards. Thai tea was great, no notes. Manager came to check in for feedback, said they were still training some new kitchen staff.

(Side note- if you're an ambiance person they always have incredible fresh flowers on display!) However, dinner was kind of eh! I was expecting a lot more flavor. I've been here before, but just for appetizers. I was kind of disappointed in the main courses. We ordered two stir fry's and the duck. I feel like you could get something similar or better at a whole in the wall Asian fusion spot. For the price, experience and exquisite staff, I expected a little more. Still highly recommend the apps and cocktail bar. Those are no-brainer options for a beautiful happy hour in Delray!

After 20 minutes we asked about our table and were told that several tables had paid but were lingering. Given the number of parties waiting we suggested that they be politely asked to move to the bar etc and we were told that older people would be offended. After half an hour we asked again. 40 minutes later we were told to follow the maitre d' Dwayne, who walked ahead of us gestured to our table and kept walking...no apology for the wait, no menus just rude and dismissive. The district manager was there and happened to speak to my husband and had ordered a couple of apps and apologized for the conduct of the staff. The waiter was ok...not at the level of service one would expect at a restaurant of this calibre. The chicken dumplings and chilled lettuce wraps were good. We then ordered ribs, and two salads which were good. For dinner we ordered a variety of things to share...food came out slowly, plates and empty glasses were not removed unless we asked for them to be. The beef ravioli were outstanding. The stir fries and noodle dishes were good. The special noodles with seafood was good but didn't have a ton of seafood. Our night got off to a bad start...when going somewhere that confirms and reconfirms reservations but doesn't honour them and staff are dismissive and rude, it is hard to look past that. The food was good but there are many outstanding restaurants in Boca/Delray that honour reservations and values their patrons. Would I go back? Not likely.

You'll have no problem finding parking as it has street parking all around and a garage that's $1.50 an hour (could be worse). The restaurant was clean and has a nice, calm vibe to it. The happy hour menu has a good selection of drinks and food. I like that it's offered everyday and at convenient times. We ordered: 1) Red Dragon and Triole Sexy ($13 per roll)- we liked it! Good presentation, simple, did not fall apart, tastes good. Price and portion was a plus 2) Salmon Carpaccio ($12)- comes with 5 pieces, topped with fried garlic and yuzu/truffle oil. I barely tasted truffle and I would think it would have came with more pieces, at least 6-8. Overall, tasted good 3) Beef short rib skewer ($9)- comes with 2 skewers of bite size pieces was underwhelming, a bit pricey. It was dry and def needed some oil and salt to make it juicy and some flavor Service was great! Sushi chefs did a great job with the rolls and apps. Do recommend for happy hour!

A couple days before I stopped at a different sushi place in Atlantic Ave and I have tried a bunch of sushi restaurants in Delray and dare I say, they got nothing on Akira; This is the best sushi spot in town. Their kimchi butter sauce was unforgettable and the drinks were on point too! Service wise it was just okay. I was expecting a bit more, the server didn't show much emotion and didn't clear the dirty plates from the table. It didn't ruin the experience, but I'm a fool for outstanding service. Can't wait to be back to try all of their rolls and more!!

Our server was great, knew the menu well, gave solid recommendations, and was very helpful throughout the night. Probably not necessarily, but we'd definitely come again with a group of friends who haven't tried it before. Overall, a solid spot with good service and good food
